1st boss- Medium difficulty
2nd boss- EASY
3rd boss- crushinlgy uprepared
so, i may be a newb, but the second boss is the easiest one, to me. first boss depends on the rooms you find, and the third boss seems immortal.
I agree with Warlokthegreat. I had almost no trouble with the first boss, and the second boss was nothing.. got through levels 11-14 without any trouble, had plate armor +5 with entanglement and a +4 battle ax with shocking. I unfortunately only had one health potion, a full dew bottle, a wand of avalance and a wand of firebolt, some javelins, tomohawks, shurikens, various scrolls, and a ankh. I came down (It was my first time getting to the 3rd boss after like 70 runs) and got COMPLETELY destroyed. One thing I reccomend is go through all gravestones in the sewer levels (when you have nothing to loose) because they have some very good items in them, albiet the wraiths. (wraiths are easy to kill if you fight them one at a time while they are in doorways)
I don't understand how you got wrecked, though; you should've won with those strong items.
Your armor was more than enough to protect you, your +4 Shocking BA would've dealt double damage if DM-300 was standing on water, 1 Healing potion's enough with Entanglement in play, the full Dew Vial should've saved you, the Wand of Firebolt would've inflicted damage-over-time while you were striking DM-300 with your BA, your missile weapons would've dealt some damage before DM-300 even got near you to start the fight, and the Ankh should've revived you for the fight. The only thing you could've used was maybe 2 Potions of Purification, to mitigate damage from the Toxic Gas & avoid getting Paralyzed by the rubble.
What was your attack sequence?
Perhaps I could help you reorganize your attack sequence, so you don't die with a similar set of items next time.
Cause you seriously should've won with all of those items. I know I would've.
@ Ultimatecub:
Apologies for the late reply, and even though Zehren already assisted you, I'd like to answer anyway, since you posted on my thread, and therefore directed your question at me.
To answer your question in the Stage 3 Guide thread; in terms of your melee weapon alone, not really, no. Well, except..
Contrary to Zehren's Step 0, I would advise against upgrading during a Boss Fight. You'll want to have upgraded that Short Sword before you even descend to D-15. That way, you don't waste any turns in fighting DM-300.
But with the items you have, you'll need to resort to Ranged Combat instead. (At least until you find a high-tiered melee weapon in the next stage.)
In the guide above, read from the beginning of Ranged Method, then skip down & read both Paralyzed Ranged, and Flock & Amok Ranged.
Since you have the easiest two Ranged methods both available to you, it won't be too difficult to beat DM-300.
Note: I normally would not advise the use of a Scroll of Terror for this Boss Fight, unless you're a veteran who knows what they're doing. Good thing you lucked out with the direction that DM-300 ran to in fear; otherwise, it could've ran to a used trap, and you definitely don't want that to happen.
In reference to Zehren's guide in the Stage 3 thread, before Step 1, I would first instruct you to have DM-300 step onto one of your Sorrowmoss seeds, so that it starts receiving damage-over-time as you lure it to the water.
Then, to make sure it doesn't follow you out of water, while you create distance from DM-300, I would zap the Wand of Flock to the neareast wall tile, then zap DM-300 with Wand of Amok. Then I would proceed with Zehren's Steps 2-4. And if the P-Gas begins to dissipate, throw another P-Gas potion & continue throwing the Javelins 'til you're out. And if your Lightning wand recharged within that time, zap DM-300 again.
For your 3rd & final P-Gas potion, wait for DM-300 to step out of water, before throwing your 2nd Sorrowmoss seed for it to step onto, then paralyze it with your final P-Gas potion, then throw your sole Liquid Flame potion at DM-300 for more DoT. Again, if your Lightning wand recharged within this time, you should still use it, even if DM-300's not on water anymore.
If DM-300 is still alive at this point, it's now time to resort to melee combat. Proceed with Zehren's Steps 1b-3b, then zap a Wand of Flock nearby, then zap DM-300 with Amok. This should save you several free attack turns, before DM-300 begins to tear away at your Herbal Armor from Earthroot. Once you've run out of charges for those two wands, proceed with Zehren's Step 4b & continue attacking with your base-level Venomous Short Sword. Hopefully, you've gotten DM-300 to low-enough health at this point, that Herbal Armor would buy you enough turns to defeat DM-300 with the base-level Short Sword.
Keep striking until DM-300's defeated. And if you're low on health after the fight, rather than drinking your final Healing potion, step on your Sungrass seed & keep tapping Wait until you're fully healed. Feel free to eat your Overpriced FR if you're Starving, then proceed to the D-16 Shop.
Since you've already invested Upgrade scrolls in your Scale Armor, it's probably wiser to just sell your base Plate Armor, since any Upgrade scrolls you get from here on out, you'll want to apply onto the best melee weapon you find at this stage. If you don't find a Tier-4/Tier-5 melee weapon at Stage 4, I really don't know how else you can reach the end, beyond investing your Upgrade scrolls into your Lightning wand instead.
Then, proceed to my Stage 4 Guide.
Whatever bombs I didn't use on the 2nd boss, I use on the robot, weaving in shots from whatever ranged weapons I have while it's paralyzed. Once I run out, I'll throw down seeds and drink a purification potion if I have one, and go to town.
One time I went into the fight with ten bombs. All I did was chuck bombs and nothing else and still left the fight with one left.
