A2.)  Not much, if anything.  I closed the original Hall of Fame thread & started a continuation for it.  That's it, really.
A3.)  Dead, pretty much (but that's just my perspective; Idk for certain how many people still play the original PD).
Hasn't had an update since 1.9.2a. I imagine because there are so many mods now & the playerbase flocked to those mods. And Watabou likely got tired of supporting it & wanted to move on to new games.

If Watabou had released an update on all the platforms it's currently available on, giving it Legacy Mode, I imagine many would return to play (including myself).

I would've asked what Depth you were on, before asking you anything else.
But I also would've suggested you wait for the best weapon & armor you could find (up until Depth 12~13), before investing Upgrade scrolls into anything; and that trading up is recommended, until you either find the best weapon/armor, or have reached Depth 12-13 & still haven't found anything (in which case you upgrade whatever best weapon/armor you've found thus far & just go for it).
My guides cover the optimal weapon & armor levels you should have, at a given depth/stage/boss fight, so I suggest giving those green numbers a look.  ; j
Eventually, though/With enough time, you'll get a natural feel for what levels you'll need to have to be able to take things on.  =)

That's not how this thread works.
You're supposed to only record the equipment that you've succeeded in obtaining the Amulet of Yendor with and/or ascended to the Surface with.

For example ↓

You tap on one of your recorded victories on that screen ↑, and it'll show you the items you had equipped, the moment you obtained the Amulet of Yendor/ascended to the Surface.
The items that appear are the items you're supposed to record on this thread.
And if you don't want to type it out, you can simply screenshot those items (rather than the Top Ranking screen you uploaded).
Look at the screenshots in the original Hall Of Fame thread as examples.

It's called the Weightstone (See: → Weightstone ).

• Non-battle staff (slowness, regrowth, teleport, amok preferred)
• Battle staff

They're wands (See: → Wands ), not "staffs".

My favorite class is the Assassin.
My least favorite class is the Battlemage. (Warlock too, for that matter. Mage sucks. ^^)

That's completely off-topic & not what the Miscellaneous explanations/story Section is for.
That section's for any pertinent explanations regarding your equipped items upon obtaining the Amulet of Yendor/ascending to the Surface, the items in your Backpack during either, or how you were able to manage your victory for that session.  (See previous entries in the original Hall of Fame thread.)

No clue, but I think they're just that - butterflies.
I think they're there merely as a graphic to symbolize Transformation & nothing else.
But *shrug*; you'll have to ask Watabou himself.

For some weird reason, this wiki doesn't hold posting data, if a person has stayed on a page for too long while composing a post, before clicking Reply/Submit.
I've also learned the hard way to copy & paste my posts on Notepad prior to posting → refresh the wiki page (so the wiki doesn't lose my post) → paste my post back on the page → click Reply/Submit (since the wiki only remembers your post if you click Reply/Submit not too long after composing your post - no more than 10 minutes).

You bring up an excellent point (& now I'm wondering why none of us have implemented this yet cause it's a good idea..hahah).
However, I'd like to see what Mdsimmo thinks (since he's the Senior Admin), before we decide on/act on/proceed with this.

(Also, I have no qualms with wielding the banhammer straight out of the gate.
SS99's also free to do so, but I think he prefers to leave the banhammering to me, Idk; LoL.)

It already is; it's protected under the 5^th bullet of Parameters.

There are times when the potion is needed much more than the seeds it's brewed from.
Particularly when potion usage is more frequent than seed usage.
Things are usually at a calmer pace when requiring seeds; and a more frenetic pace when requiring potions.
Also, the potion brewing badges still exist, last time I checked.
