[This wiki page describes the current version "0.9.4 Testers' Party - the Start". No significant changes have been made in pets or allies in this version, with only the addition of the Soul of Rabbit drop from the Ice Corps boss in the Bossrush challenge. Nevertheless, two important changes and also a new pat addition have happened in the directly previous version "Year Hunter": a) pets can't be released on challenge book or dolya slate depths anymore and b) all pets seem to have been buffed and even the Random Soul pets with just a little attention to avoid them getting surrounded by enemies can easily reach late-game (but not end-game due to their new limitations in travelling), and c) the Baby Year pet got first introduced (it used to be always available as a unique pet card drop from the Year Beast in Spring Festival Town in the directly previous version, but in this version its Dolya Slate page has become a radom drop of the Year Beast in the Yog-Dzewa fight, so the Baby Year has also become randomly available).]

Overview[]

Original PD had already an ally character, the Golden Bee, and Sprouted PD has added the pets feature in Pixel Dungeon, but SPS-PD has extended both of these features, adding 10 new pets and 6 new allies and also changing most of the allies and pets that it has kept from Sprouted PD. This makes the total amount of SPS-PD's allies 14 and of SPS-PD's pets 19.

Allies[]

Their general difference from pets is that they don't get released from a Random Soul or a Soul of Mobs but from ally-specific items, wands or a special skill and with the exception of the Sad Ghost, they aren't capable of surviving for long. Their general similarity with pets is that they also help the hero in the fight against enemies. The Mr. Destructo, Fairy, Golden Bee and Sad Ghost allies have been received from Sprouted PD (with many changes implemented to them though), while the Steel Bee and both Fairies have been pets in previous versions of SPS-PD like in Sprouted PD, but the Baba, Little Tree, Mobile Sattelite and Thundercloud allies are totally new. This makes the total number of SPS-PD's allies 14.

Note that the Leader subclass of the soldier summons stronger versions of all allies, and also an aggressive sheep named Baba, instead of a plain passive sheep when using the wand of Flock. Note that the game considers the ally characters as generally "non-fiendly" to the hero and as a consequence possible targets, so when the player selects the ally's tile, the hero won't move there and change places with the ally, like he/she would do with a pet, but will attack the ally instead. Allies don't fight back, but they receive unnecessary damage this way. Lastly, an ally creating item can't get transmuted to another item of this type (for example a Fairy Card to a Control Mobile).

Moving[]

Fairy[]

Fairy Sprouted PD
Fairy
Fairy can heal your wounds.

She was still a pet in older versions of SPS-PD. She now gets released instantly only from a Fairy Card, and specifically for the Huntress class when she uses her Summon Fairy option of her skill kit, and never gets released from a Soul of Mobs. Unlike her previous pet version and the fairy of Sprouted PD she doesn't attack enemies but only follows the hero around and heals him/her. She has 200 HP, no Armor or Evasion, it constantly loses health, 1 HP per turn, and eventually vanishes, approximately affter half a depth is explored.

Fairy Card SPS-PD
Fairy card
Draw a card, summon a fairy.

Warlock Fairy (Leader subclass only)[]

Sugarplum Fairy Sprouted PD
Warlock Fairy
Warlock Fairy can heal your wounds and harm your enemy.

She was also a pet in older versions of SPS-PD. When specifically the Leader subclass of the Soldier will use a Fairy Card, he will get a Warlock Fairy instead, and never a plain Fairy. She is an enhanced version of the plain fairy, as in addition to healing the hero she also attacks enemies and has attack stats (Damage: min. depth number + 12 - max. deth number + 25, Accuracy: 60 + dungeon depth, Evasion: 20, Armor: 0). Her attack can be either ranged or melee, depending on the distance of the enemy, but it is a plain attack and not a lightning bolt like in Sprouted PD. She has double the plain Fairy's HP (400), but like her she also loses 1 HP per turn, and due to her aggresive nature against enemies and the increased HP loss because of them fighting back, she also does not survive for long. Both Fairies are immune to all buffs and debuffs.

Golden Bee[]

Golden bee
Golden Bee
Despite their small size, golden bees tend to protect their home fiercely. This one is very mad, better keep your distance.

This is a case of "my enemy's enemy is my friend" as it is aggressive to the character closer to the shattered honeypot from where it gets released, so the hero can use it as a temporary ally to attack or distract enemies. Nevertheless, If it manages to kill the enemy and there is only the hero around left, it will attack the hero. Its HP, Accuracy and Evasion depend on the current depth [HP: (20 + depth number) * 4, Accuracy, Evasion: (9 + depth number), Armor: 0 ] and its melee Damage is min. its max HP/10 - max. its max HP/4. Its other version is a true ally to the hero though.

Honeypot
Honeypot
This large honeypot is only really lined with honey, instead it houses a giant bee! These sorts of massive bees usually stay in their hives, perhaps the pot is some sort of specialized trapper's cage? The bee seems pretty content inside the pot with its honey, and buzzes at you warily when you look at it.

Steel Bee (Leader subclass only)[]

Steel Bee Sprouted PD
Steel Bee
Strongly armored in steely plates, this bee is here to fight!

When specifically the Leader subclass shatters a honeypot, a friendly Steel Bee is released, that will never attack the hero but only enemies. It is a reintroduction of the Steel Bee pet from Sprouted PD and older versions of SPS-PD but as an ally and also a stronger version of the Golden Bee. Its HP, Accuracy and Evasion depend also on the current depth [HP: (50 + depth number) * 4, Accuracy: Evasion * 2, Evasion: (15 + depth number), Armor: 0] and its melee Damage is min. its max HP/8 - max. its max HP / 2. It has 30 more HP than the Golden Bee, and because it does not attack the hero, it will survive for longer, but due to its aggresive nature against enemies and its melee type of attack, it also does not survive for long. Both Bees are immune to Poison and the Golden Bee also to Amok.

Little Tree (Huntress class only)[]

Plant King SPS-PD
Little Tree
A normal tree

The Little Tree is a melee attacking ally, which can be summoned only by the Huntress class after using her Living Root special skill. In early hero's levels only 1 is summoned, but their number increases as the Huntress levels up by +1 tree every 15 levels, so they become 2 at level 30, 3 at level 45 etc. Each Little Tree has 10 HP, Accuracy 40, no Armor or Evasion, deals 10-30 damage, and can also apply the Leech Seed debuff. It is also immune to Poison. Due to its very low HP, it is basically expendable and mostly useful in high hero's levels due to the bigger amount of them that gets generated, as a distraction to enemies and as a way to weaken them before the Huntress attacks them. Note that it shares the same sprite with the Plant King of the Bossrush challenge, but there is no way for the player to confuse these two characters, unless the Huntress is fighting specifically with the Plant King and also summons Little Trees.

Sad Ghost from the Dried Rose[]

Sad ghost gif
Sad Ghost [from the Dried Rose]
The ghost is weak on their own, but their form is solid enough to be equipped with a weapon and armor. They will be able to use these items just like you do.

Some information about the Sad Ghost should also be noted here, as it is very similar to the rest of the allies, even though it gets summoned by an artifact. It is more similar to its Shattered PD version than that of Sprouted PD, as the Sad Ghost of SPS-PD can equip weapons and armors, starting with a Strength of 13 at level 0 and gaining 1 Str. every 2 levels (so its strength caps at 17). Its HP are 50 + (20 * level of Dried Rose), its Evasion is [(hero's level + 4) * 2], its Accuracy is (hero's level + 9 with the bonus of its equipped weapon, if it has one) and the melee Damage it deals and its Armor depend exclusively on the weapon and armor it has equipped (it deals 0-5 damage without a weapon equipped, which does not scale up with the rose's levels). Unlike the hero, it just can't equip weapons or armors of higher strength. It is immune to Burning, the scroll of Psionic Blast and Toxic gas. After being defeated, either by the hero or an enemy, it has a 30% chance of dropping a very useful in early levels tier 2 Wraith Breath melee weapon with 4 tiles range, that cannot get obtained otherwise. It is the only ally that the Leader subclass has not access to a stronger version of it.

Dried Rose
Dried Rose
Is this the rose that the ghost mentioned before disappearing? It seems to hold some spiritual power, perhaps it can be used to channel the energy of that lost warrior.

Stationary[]

Mobile Sattelite[]

Mobile Satellite active SPS-PD
Mobile Sattelite
Mobile Sattelite

This is a totally new ally. It gets released instantly from a Control Mobile, it is stationary unlike all the previous allies, has no melee attack but zaps constantly and rapidly laser beams against enemies. It is has 100 HP, Armor, Evasion: 0, Accuracy 30 + depth number, Attack Delay: 0.33, ranged Damage: min. (its current HP/8) + 5 - max (its current HP/2) + 10. It also constantly loses health and eventually vanishes.

Mobile Satellite SPS-PD
Control Mobile
It will summon a mobile satellite.

Ex Mobile Sattelite (Leader subclass only)[]

Ex mobile satellite
Ex Mobile Sattelite
Ex Mobile Sattelite

When specifically the Leader subclass of the Soldier will use a Control Mobile, he will get an Ex Mobile Sattelite instead, and never a plain Mobile Sattelite. It is also stationary and beam-zapping but a stronger version of the Mobile Sattelite, as it is even quicker in attacks (Attack Delay: 0.25) and has Accuracy: 60 + dungeon depth, Evasion: 35, Armor: 0, ranged Damage: min. (its current HP/6) + 10 - max (its current HP/2) + 20 and it has triple the Mobile Sattelite's HP (300). It also constantly loses health and eventually vanishes, just a lot of turns after the Mobile Sattelite would.

Mr. Destructo[]

MrDestructo SPSPD
Mr. Destructo 2.0
You use this thing and it is attacking mobs.

This ally is borrowed from Sprouted PD and is kept for the most part unchanged in its behavior. Like in Sprouted PD, when it gets activated and thrown, it shoots disintegration rays in any direction that enemies are located, remaining on the tile it was thrown. While it will never target the hero or the pet, it may hit him/her/it by accident, as the disintegration rays pierce enemies or if an enemy is moving and gets behind the hero/pet. It is stationary like the Mobile Sattelite, it has 100 HP, Evasion: 3, Armor: 0, Accuracy: 20 + depth number, and its ranged Damage is min. depth number - max. depth number + 12. Its life span is similar to the Steel Bee's or the Warlock Fairy's, because will be attacking back. Unlike Sprouted PD it doesn't deactivate and it is not reusable after getting it recharged, so it eventually gets destroyed by the damage it receives.

Mr. Destructo 2.0 (Leader subclass only)[]

MrDestructo2 SPSPD
Mr. Destructo 2.0
You use this thing and it is attacking mobs. It was upgraded by the power of the Leader.

This ally is also borrowed from Sprouted PD, but it is not a product of transmuting a fully charged plain Mr. Destructo anymore. When specifically the Leader subclass of the Soldier will use a Mr. Destructo, he will get a Mr. Destructo 2.0, and never a plain Mr. Destructo (1). It is also stationary and beam-zapping but a stronger version of Mr. Destructo (1), as it has 200 HP, Evasion: 35, Armor: 0, Accuracy: 30 + depth number, and its ranged Damage is min. depth number + 20 - max. depth number + 32. Like Mr. Destructo (1) it eventually gets destroyed by the damage it receives.

Stationary and Moving[]

Sheep[]

Sheep gif
Sheep
This is a magic sheep. What's so magical about it? You can't kill it. It will stand there until it magically fades away, all the while chewing cud with a blank stare.

For all the subclasses other than the Leader a wand of Flock will always summon the familiar sheep of Sprouted PD, which apart from being useful for disarming traps in the Sokoban puzzle depths, in SPS-PD it has the extra feature that attracts the enemies' attacks, and works as an ally in the sense that the hero can use sheep as distractions for enemies. Note that when an enemy has started attacking the hero, it can't be distracted by a spawned sheep anymore and will contiue attacking the hero.

Shattered-Wand of living earth
Wand of Flock
This wand looks like an ordinary stick, but the gold ornaments at both ends make it look less ordinary. It can summon flock.

Baba (Leader subclass only)[]

The Leader subclass of the soldier when he uses the wand of Flock in depths lower than 51 and higher than 55 (basically in all the game's depths apart from the puzzle depths), he will summon an agressive ram named BABA.

Baba SPS-PD
BABA
LEVEL TOO HARD, BABA IS DONE. BETTER LOOK OUT, BABA HAS GUN.

It has the lowest HP among all allies, 20, but rather high Damage (min. depth's number +10, max. depth's number +20) and very high accuracy (100), and basically it is a killing machine with very short lifespan (its other stats are Armor: 0 and Evasion: 10). It can attack in both melee and non-melee range depending on the distance of the enemy (it is a ram with a gun, as the game description states). Unlike all the other allies that spawn from infrequent items or from a special skill that needs recharging, so the instance of summoning them has to get picked wisely, if the hero has an upgraded wand of Flock, he/she can litterally spam the enemies with angry BABAS, as this ally is designed to be expendable and optimally to get used in big amounts. Both wand allies are immune to all buffs and debuffs.

Thundercloud[]

Thundercloud SPS-PD
Thundercloud
A Thundercloud.

Like in the Sad Ghost subsection some information about the Thundercloud should also be noted here, as it is very similar to the rest of the allies, even though it gets summoned by a wand. When the wand of Thundercloud reaches at least level +10, it will summon a small grey and yellow immovable cloud that occasionally takes the form of a tank, with 200 HP and no armor or evasion, which has Accuracy 500 and an attack delay of 0.5, zaps [wand's level number] successive Lightning bolts to enemies, which deal 20-45 damage per bolt at level +10 of the wand (their damage scales by +1/+3 per level of the wand), and finally dissolves away like the rest of the allies, either from taking damage or by itself. The turret does not zap enemies at melee range and in this case it uses a weak melee ability. If the +10 wand has less than 10 charges, it will create the area of electrical storm of its previous levels.

This wand can create an automatic cloud at the target site.

KEKE (Leader subclass only)[]

Keke SPS-PD
KEKE
KEKE IS MOVING, MOBS WILL BE DEAD

Like with all previous allies, the Leader subclass of the soldier will summon a stronger version. It has lower HP than the thundercloud, 100, moves instead of having a stable position, and throws bombs instead of zapping lightnings, also equal in number to the wand's level, which deal 30-80 damage each, and their damage scales up by +1/+5 per level. Its other stats are the same with those of the thundercloud. Both wand allies are immune to all buffs and debuffs.

Coconut (currently unavailable)[]

Sprouted Portal Key
Summon Key
It can summon Coconut.

Also there is a Coconut ally mentioned in the game code, that is summoned by an item named in the code "Summon Key" with the sprite of an Ancient Key from Sprouted PD, but this key and therefore this ally don't seem to spawn in current SPS-PD. It is supposed to be the ally version of the Bomb Cat pet, which also doesn't seem to appear in current SPS-PD. It is supposed to have 200 HP, no Evasion, Accuracy: 40 + depth number, melee Damage min depth number + 10 - max depth number + 16, and throws Build Bombs as its special attack. Its enhanced version which is supposed to get summoned by the Leader has 400 HP, Evasion: 20, Accuracy: 40 + depth number, melee damage min depth number + 20 - max depth number + 32, and also throws Build Bombs as its special attack. All these were mentioned obviously for reasons of possible future relference and players should not expect to find a Summon Key in the current version of SPS-PD.

General note: Unlike pets in SPS-PD there isn't any prohibition in the spawning of allies in any depth of SPS-PD or because another ally is already active.

Pets generally[]

Pets has been yet another subject to receive a mixture of additions, changes, and re-theming in SPS-PD. Firstly, instead of eggs, pets are summoned from Souls that are mostly obtained in the same way as in Sprouted PD. There are two types of souls:

  • A Random Soul that all Classic skins start with in their backpack ald is also sold regularly by Pet Dealer Lery in Dolya Town, to instantly summon one of the weaker pets. The Random Soul is only radomly sold by Pet Dealer Lery in Dolya Town.
Random Soul SPS-PD
  •  A Soul of Mobs that it is found rarely as loot in the regular dungeon and in the Rat King's chests in the Tengu's Hideout, is sold randomly in the regular dungeon's and Dolya Town's shops, sold regularly by Pet Dealer Lery in Dolya Town, dropped rarely by Dwarf Warlocks instead of a potion, is one of the rewards of Sokoban 4 puzzle, and it replaces the eggs of Sprouted PD. It can be hatched similarly to Sprouted PD's eggs in order to summon a more powerful pet
Soul of Mobs SPS-PD

Note: "Electy" stands for Elect(ricit)y

  • While the Random Soul can be theoretically used for the same purpose, as it can also receive elemental influences like the Soul of Mobs, its energy counter will reset itself whenever the game is reloaded, and it also will ignore any elemental influences it has for its pet outcome (so there is absolutely no point in keeping the Random Soul unbroken to get a stronger pet after throwing it on some traps). Also, instead of shaking the soul, players simply Listen to it. Nothing will be heard from the Soul of Mobs if it's not ready: before 100 turns in the backpack opening the Soul of Mobs will just waste it, "its energy will disperse" as the game message says, and after 100 turns and still without some sound, the Soul of Mobs will produce a Random Soul. Some word or whisper will be heard if one of the less powerful Soul of Mobs pets is ready to get released, and a big noise will be heard if something more powerful is contained. This applies only to the Soul of Mobs, as the Random Soul is ready from the start and always makes big noise, which is somewhat misleading as the Random Soul pets are weaker than almost all the Soul of Mobs pets. As a bonus, Souls now show their energy - turns in the hero’s backpack and elemental influences in a counter (a characteristic of eggs borrowed from Easier Sprouted Pixel Dungeon).
  • The Random Soul is only capable of providing these pets: Fly, Gentle Crab, Metal Klik, Ribbon Rat, Snake, Spidersilk Klik. If the Soul of Mobs is opened (Summon option) after 100 and before 1,000 turns in the hero’s backpack without any elemental influences, it provides a Random Soul. After 1,000 turns and before 2,000 turns without any elemental influences, a Web Spider is summoned. From 2,000 turns and on without any elemental influences, a Blood Scorpion is summoned. Lastly, depending on which element a Soul of Mobs will be influenced by addtionally and sometimes also by an extra factor like the time of the year, it can also summon a Blue Dragon / Bug dragon / Chaos Elemental / Gold Dragon / Green Dragon / Light Dragon / Red Dragon / Shadow Dragon /  Velocirooster / Violet Dragon.
  • An item also related with the handling of pets is the Lantern of Soul Collect, that can be used to store any pet by throwing the lantern at it (it can be used only once, but lanterns are sold often in all regular dungeon shops and also randomly in the northwest Dolya Town shop). The lantern's game description is inaccurate in the part that it also describes the lantern's damage, as the lantern can not be used as a thrown weapon, nevertheless it gets stored in the weapon's container (Portable Scarecrow), after it becomes available. Lastly, when the Lantern contains a pet, it cannot get dropped anymore, it starts getting stored in the backpack, and when it is thrown it will release the pet and get spent.

The pets that used to be able to survive and follow the hero until almost end-game used to be all the Soul of Mobs pets, but none of the Random Soul pets. Nevertheless, after a recent update all pets of SPS-PD have had their survivability improved, so players can now try reaching late-game even with a Random Soul pet, but still Soul of Mobs pets have better survivability in comparison and the skills of most of them are more powerful. The reason that late-game and not end-game was mentioned previously was that pets also can't follow the hero anymore to challenge depths, Dolya Slate depths, the BossRush challenge and generally to anywhere that reaching its depth requires teleportation (moreover they also can't spawn originally in these depths, by getting released by a random soul/soul of mobs/lantern with a soul). The Book of Soul (formerly whistle) also doesn't work in general in current SPS-PD and will summon a pet nowhere. This essentially prohibits pets from visiting any of the end-game areas.

Apart from influencing the Souls of Mobs in order to get a specific pet, the hero can also buy specific ready-to-release-a-pet cards from Pet Dealer Lery at the top east corner of Dolya Town, but for a heavy price, 12,500 gold each (don't confuse them with the ally summoning items, these are randomly sold in the regular dungeon shops and in the northwest Dolya Town shop, but never by Pet Dealer Lery, and with the exception of the fairy card they have very different spites anyway). Pet Dealer Lery also sells randomly Random Souls also for 12,500 gold and Souls of of Mobs for 1,250 gold, but only one of all these these items in each hero's visit. Note that Pet Dealer Lery does not spawn in any case in Dolya Town but only after the "5 pets released" badge is obtained, which means that the hero will have already released some pets before he/she will be be able to buy a new pet from Lery, so his shop is more of a bonus game feature that relies much on the games RNG (5 souls generated as loot or merchandise > hero having them hatched and releasing the 5 pets).

Pet dealer Lery SPS-PD
Pet Dealer Lery
He is another element of this union. He is good at training pets.

All pets gain XP by getting fed or by the hero killing enemies with or without the help from the pet but with it being on the same depth (unlike Sprouted PD, where the pet doesn't earn XP when the hero kills the enemies, without the pet having hit them) and all have the same rate of levelling up: they need only 2 XP to have their first level up, but need 6 XP for level 3, 12 XP for level 4, 20 for level 5, 30 for level 6, 42 for level 7 etc. The arithmetic progression of levellng up is: XP needed = (level + 1) * (level + 2). The levelling up message for pets is: "Your pet grows stronger" and will be repeated for each new level, when the hero feeds the pet with suitable food for the first time. For the first ten or so levels pets can grow rapidly, but after a point it becomes more and more difficult for them to get a new level, even if the hero feeds them often and around level 25 their growing practically stops, unless they are fed constantly - the XP needed for level 27 is 702, for level 28 is 756, for level 29 is 812, and for level 30 is 870. 30 is the level cap for all pets. At this level all Soul of Mobs pets apart from the Bug Dragon and the Gold Dragon will have 40 Accuracy, 35 Evasion and 370 HP, and all Random Soul pets 40 Accuracy, 35 Evasion and 240 HP.

Pets never receive damage by the hero's melee or ranged attacks or by scrolls of Psionic Blast, but they can get damaged by their wands, harmful potions he/she throws at them etc. They are also immune to the Burning, Caustic Ooze, Poison, Rooting and Stone Ice debuffs and to Demon Blood gas, (note that they seem to get burned, but the debuff goes away from them after 1 turn without harming them), but not immune or resistant to any other debuff. Although it would be perhaps expected that pets with a specific elemental attack and/or an elemental inspiration would have a bonus immunity to the specific type of elemental damage, this is never the case, and so the Blue Dragon can get frozen, the Green Dragon can get shocked by electricity etc.

Pets are very helpful in all the chapter boss depths, but due to the many minions the can surround and kill them when either DM-300 or the Spider Queen spawn in depth 15, it is not advised to get taken along when fighting these two chapter bosses. They are normally locked outside the third and fourth chapter boss depths anyway, but using a wall-destroying bomb, the Classic Performer's Shovel, the Vtuber Perrformer's Button, or the Builder Follower's Diamond Pickaxe can give access to a locked outside pet, and they can also be alternatively stored in the Soul Lantern and get released inside the chapter boss depth after its door gets locked. After a recent update pets can't travel along the hero, get summoned by a Book of Soul (formerly whistle) or get released in any of the Challenge Book, Dolya Slate, Big Boss depths (with the only exception being the first one with Yog-Dzewa), and generally to any depth that visiting it requires using a portal/teleportation: their spawning on these depths was sometimes leading to game crashes, so this ability was removed from them by default to simplify matters. In addition, because the Book of Soul (formerly whistle) item is not working in general in the current version, pets essentially can follow the hero only in the regular dungeon and only if they follow him/her tile by tile. This practically also means that pets will be following the hero until late-game (Yog-Dzewa), but not afterwards, as they are prohibited from visiting all the end-game areas, and they will be able to reach max level only after a lot of feeding > additional levelling up.

Pet features[]

All pets start with stats much higher than the pets' stats of Sprouted PD. Soul of Mobs pets start weaker in health than the Random Soul pets, but soon get stronger, due to their double HP gain per level. Pets have a subtab of their own in the hero's tab, which shows their level, health, stats and skill availability. They also have a chance to regain 1 point of HP per turn, the default chance being 10% (nevertheless some pets like the Easter Bunny and Violet Dragon have a better regeneration rate and the Velocirooster has worse).

Pet Food
Pet Food
Every pet loves it, that is why it is called pet food.

Feeding pets not only heals them fully, but also instantly recharges their skill and adds 120 XP to their counter > helps them to quickly level up, especially after they first get released. Apart from the specific food that each pet eats, all can eat Pet Food, which can be bought in the north west shop of Dolya Town and is also cooked in an alchemy pot with 2 nuts and 1 clean water (in the following sections, when a pet is described as just eating meat, that means all types of meat, otherwise the specific type of meat will be getting named). Note that in comparison to Sprouted PD almost all pets are now much more useful in late game, as they all have a high dodge ability from early on, and also their level is no longer capped at 20 but at 30, so they can become much more powerful than before and stand a chance against late-game enemies, especially the Soul of Mobs pets.

The player should only try to keep up the pet with the depth difficulty, by feeding//levelling it up, when he/she sees that that the pet struggles, especially Random Soul Pets, which are the weakest. All pets always fly, meaning that they can levitate above traps without activating them, above chasms etc. (and as a consequence are also immune to rooting), even those that have an animal equivalent in the real world but that only walks, so in SPS-PD crabs, rats, scorpions, snakes etc. all fly. The Rogue class in general does not work well with pets at all after the Rogue chooses a subclass, as: a) when both the Assassin and his pet are attacking the same enemy, the enemy remains aware even when the Assassin goes in stealth mode because the pet is still visible and attacking, so the Assassin unfortunately loses his basic advantage, and b) the Freerunner must always wait for his pet, as it is slower than him, so he also loses his basic advantage. In short, after a Rogue chooses his subclass, he should put his pet in a lantern and sell it or dismiss it.

As mentioned previously pets can't travel along the hero, get summoned by a Book of Soul (formerly whistle) or get released in any of the Challenge Book, Dolya Slate, BossRush or Big boss depths (with the only exception being the first one with Yog-Dzewa), because their spawning on these depths was sometimes leading to game crashes, and this ability was removed from them by default to simplify matters (the Book of Soul item is also currently non-functioning in general). They follow the hero, when he/she steps on a Warping trap, but not when he/she steps on a Ptifall trap or falls into a chasm. Pets get also teleported along with the hero when he/she reads a scroll of Teleportation, but not when he/she steps on a Fadeleaf plant or a regular Teleportation trap. They are normally locked out in the third and fourth chapter boss depths, but using a wall-destroying bomb, the Classic Performer's Shovel, the Vtuber Perrformer's Button, or the Builder Follower's Diamond Pickaxe can give access to a locked outside pet, and also they can be alternatively stored in the Soul Lantern and get released inside the chapter boss depth after its door gets locked.

The movement speed of all pets is 1, the same with the hero's if the hero hasn't a ring of Haste equipped. This ring adds +10% to movement speed already from level +1, the effect is just not very apparent at low levels, as it gives one extra movement turn every 10 turns at level +1, every 9 turns at level +2 etc. and the movement bonus becomes straightforward only at level +10, as it is 1 extra movement turn per turn. This change affects drastically pets, as already from level +3 / +4 of the ring they start getting left behind, because the ring of Haste in SPS-PD does not affect their movement speed. Practically, if the player wants a pet along with the hero in the dungeon, he/she souldn't bother to upgrade and equip a ring of Haste to the hero, as he/she will always wait for the pet and the advantage of the ring will get wasted.

Like in Sprouted PD, no new pet can get released from the Random Soul/Soul of Mobs/pet card if a pet is already active in the game (regardless of where it is), but apart from getting killed, a pet can be also stored in a Lantern of Soul Collect for later use, and in this case a new pet can be released without a problem. A Lantern with some soul is also sold for 1,000 gold, instead of 100 gold when it is empty, and this is a nice way to make some money from the initial pet, when the hero has a stronger pet ready to get released.

  • HP: 95 (+5 per level),
  • Melee Damage: min. 10, max. 10 + (pet's level * 2)
  • Accuracy: 11 (+1 per level)
  • Attack Delay: 1 (it is not shown in the pet tab, no scaling)
  • Armor: pet's level number (it is not shown in the pet tab, no increased scaling)
  • Evasion: 6 (+1 per level, it is not shown in the pet tab)
  • Speed: 1 (it is not shown in the pet tab, no scaling)
  • Regeneration chance: 10%, +1 HP (no scaling)
  • Skill proc: 10% chance (not charged but randomly happening, while specifically the Spidersilk Klik has 1% chance)

None of the Random Soul pets exists in Sprouted PD and most of them are borrowed either from Goblins Pixel Dungeon (Spidersilk and Metal Klik) or from Unleashed Pixel Dungeon (Fly, Snake - in this mod they are enemies). Gentle Crab and Ribbon Rat are totally new pets, and are adaptations of the Sewer Crab and Marsupial Rat enemies. Nevertheless, none of them are the same with their pet or enemy equivalents in SPS-PD, Goblins PD and Unleashed PD, so the player should not consider that he/she knows how good is a pet, because he/she has already encountered it in another mod or in SPS-PD. Apart from the two Kliks all the other pets can probably be considered totally new pets, as they don’t exist as pets in any other mod. All Random Soul pets start with the same base stats mentioned before, are ready from start to get released, and a "Big noise is heard" when the hero listens to the Random Soul, which should not get confused with the same message that is heard from Soul of Mobs for dragons, Random Souls never release a dragon. No message is shown when a Random Soul Pet special ability will be applied, as it has no recharging and get activated randomly (so it is always sort of "ready"). Also all Random Soul Pets eat pet food, apart from their preferred food type.

Fly[]

Fly SPS-PD
Fly
This fly buzzes with enthusiastic ambition, dreaming to one day become a vbeautifull butterfly.

It eats meat and Slows enemies for 5 turns.

Gentle Crab[]

Gentle Crab SPS-PD
Gentle Crab
It is a gentleman and also a crab.

It eats seeds and meat, debuffs enemies with 10% Armor Break for 5 turns, and apart from being a crustacean, it is also a gentleman because it wears a hat.

Metal Klik[]

Metal Klik SPS-PD
Metal Klik
A freshly hatched metal klik grew from the proximity of stuff in your backpack. Such a cute ball! It might try to eat you gear...

It eats Escape Knives (but not Lucky Throwing Knives, or any other thrown weapon), Stone Ore and Garbage and Stuns enemies for 3 turns.

Ribbon Rat[]

Ribbon Rat SPS-PD
Ribbon Rat
This cute little rat wears only a ribbon that it cherishes highly, but for unknown reasons. It looks ready to show you its pride at just about any moment.

It eats meat, nuts and seeds. Its special ability is a Stronger Melee hit.

Snake[]

Snake SPS-PD
Snake
This snake used to enjoy its days under the soft glow of moonshine with its brother, before it decided to follow its wanderlust into the great unknown.

It eats meat and Poisons enemies from to 5 up to 7 turns.

Spidersilk Klik[]

Spidersilk Klik SPS-PD
Spidersilk Klik
A klik entirely made of spider silk. It's oddly fluffy. It seems to enjoy food and cloth items.

It eats seeds and nuts (but not clothes, this part is copied from its description in Goblins PD, and doesn't apply in SPS-PD) and has the Gifts special ability like the Hook and Ham weapon. This ability makes enemies extra loot that they don't normally drop, even artifacts and rings, but applies it very rarely (it has 1% chance to proc), and also it mostly generates rather common items.

Soul of Mobs Pets[]

Soul of Mobs card SPS-PD
Soul of Mobs
It is an egg in Sprouted, but in here it is called soul. Just try to get one pet from it. You can feed your pet to make it stronger.

Unless stated otherwise in their specific descriptions below, all the Soul of Mobs pets at level 1 start with:

  • HP: 80 (+10 per level)
  • Melee Damage: 6-8 (min. +1, max. +3 per level)
  • Accuracy: 11 (+1 per level)
  • Attack Delay: 1 (no scaling)
  • Armor: pet's level number (it is not shown in the pet tab, no increased scaling)
  • Evasion: 6 (+1 per level, it is not shown in the pet tab)
  • Speed: 1 (it is not shown in the pet tab, no scaling)
  • Regeneration chance: 10%, +1 HP (no scaling)
  • Skill recharging rate: +1 charge per turn at level 1 with always 500 turns needed in all levels. The charges gained per game turn is the stat that changes with level ups (see just below).
  • The formula that determines the charges gained per turn is much more complicated than the previous ones, so players should just know that until level 20 of the pet the charges will remain basically 1 per turn, but at level 20 they will suddenly jump to +10 per turn and will remain there, with an occasional +20 per turn which will occur randomly even at max level 30, it will just happen a little more often at max level.

Most of the Soul of Mobs pets exist also in Sprouted PD, just with slightly different or totally different names, but their attack power, special attack and health are never all at the same time similar with those of their equivalents in SProuted PD, so the player should not consider that he/she knows how good is a pet, because he he/she has used it in Sprouted PD. The Steel Bee and both Fairy pets of Sprouted PD and of previous SPS-PD versions have been changed to allies (see previous section). New Soul of Mobs pets can be considered in SPS-PD:

  • the Bug Dragon
  • the Chaos Elemental (although it exists as the Newborn Fire Elemental enemy in Shattered PD)
  • the Gold Dragon
  • the Light Dragon
  • One more new pet is also mentioned in the game code, the Bomb Cat, but it is currently unavailable.

A message is always shown when a Soul of Mobs pet's special ability is ready, naming the ability. Also all Soul of Mobs pets eat pet food, apart from their preferred food type. The element that makes a Soul of Mobs hatch a specific pet is sometimes also the element of its special attack (Blue Dragon - Ice / Chaos Elemental - randomly Electricity, Fire, Ice, Poison / Green Dragon - Electricity / Red Dragon - Fire / Violet Dragon - Poison), but in some of the pets these are not connected at all, or even the exact opposite happens, as for example the wand of Light influences the Soul of Mobs to hatch a Shadow Dragon with a shadow ranged attack.

Blood Scorpion[]

Blood Scorpio Sprouted PD
Blood Scorpion
A super sized blood thirsty scorpion. Its tail is tipped with a dangerous stinger.

Caustic Finale ready to use.

  • Its basic stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It also exists in Sprouted PD as a plain Scorpio. It is ready to get released after a Soul of Mobs remains for 2,000 turns in the hero’s backpack (i.e. the Energy counter hits 2,000 or more). Its listening message is: "You hear some word", which is also the Web Spider's message, and as the Blood Scorpion is a somewhat better pet than the Web Spider, the player should check the energy counter, before he/she releases the pet, if he/she would prefer a Blood Scorpion. It eats meat and its special melee ability is now called "Caustic Finale", which does not deal increased damage but applies Caustic Ooze to enemies, and at the same time can also Heal the pet and the hero. As it requires only a lot of turns in the hero’s backpack, this is a rather easy pet to obtain. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Scorpion sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Note that no different/better pet than the Blood Scorpion is hatched if the Soul of Mobs remains in the hero's backpack for more turns than 2,000 without any elemental influence applied to it.

Blue Dragon[]

Blue Dragon Idle
Blue Dragon
Blue Dragon is good at Ice magic.

Ice Nova ready to use.

  • Its basic stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It also exists in Sprouted PD with the same name. It is ready to get released after the Ice counter of the Soul of Mobs reaches 20 (by zapping it with the wand of Freeze, throwing it at Frost traps or Icecap plants or throwing potions of Frost at it, but only 10 Ice is needed if the month is December). Its listening message is: "You hear big noise". It eats meat and potions of Frost and has a Freezing special ranged attack (named Ice Nova by the game), which deals double the pet's regular damage and has the same effects against enemies with the wand of Freeze. Because of the many ways available to activate the Ice counter, this is the second easiest dragon to obtain, with the Red Dragon being the first. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Blue Dragon sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Bug Dragon[]

Bug Dragon SPS-PD
B u G d r A g O N
? ? ? ? ? ?

? ? ? is ready.

[Note that the sprite has its colors moving rapidly like a kaleidoscope, but this could not be depicted with a still image.]

It starts with:

  • HP: 200 (+20 per level)
  • Melee Damage: 20-25 (min +1, max +5 per level)
  • Evasion: 21 (+1 per level)
  • All its other stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It gets always released on September from a soul of mobs that would normally release a Gold Dragon, and this soul of mobs also has a very low 2% chance to release the Bug Dragon on any other month of the year (for details about hatching a Gold Dragon see relevant section above). Its listening message is the same with the Gold Dragon's ("Huge sound wave hurts your body"), it eats meat, and has a special ranged attack named "? ? ?", which deals damage equal to 5 times its regular melee damage (this is the same with the Gold Dragon's special ranged attack, just renamed to unknown). Its stats make it undoubtedly the strongest pet of SPS-PD along with its Gold Dragon regular variant, and with the Easter Bunny being the second strongest. It is never sold as a pet card by Pet Dealer Lery, and it will get only released from a Soul of Gold Dragon when the month is September. As a result it is the hardest dragon (and pet in general) to obtain.

Chaos Elemental[]

Pet dealer Lery SPS-PD
Chaos Elemental
A chaos elemental. I think it is powerful.

Unknown Blast ready to use. Are you cool?

  • Its basic stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

As a pet it is totally new, but it also exists as an enemy in Shattered PD as the "Newborn Fire Elemental", that spawns in the Old Wandmaker's ceremonial candles quest. It also looks like a doppelganger of the Pet Dealer Lery NPC from Dolya Town. It is ready to get released after almost every elemental counter in the Soul of Mobs reaches at least 5 (apart from Light and Dark) and the soul has 50 energy from the backpack. Its listening message is "You hear some whisper", which it shares with the weaker in its special attack Velocirooster, so the player should also check the counter before he/she releases the pet. It eats any scroll, and has a special attack known as "Unknow(n) Blast", which deals always double its regular damage and does randomly one of five things: zap with a Lightning bolt the enemy, deal Triple Melee Damage, zap with a Fire bolt the enemy, zap with a Poison bolt the enemy, or zap with an Ice bolt and Freeze the enemy in place (all of its ranged attacks look like a firebolt zap but apply randomly any of these effects). Its Fire special attack very rarely ignites flammable tiles or causes the Burning debuff to enemies, but still it does, so it is not a good idea to get taken along in depths with high grass that the hero wants it to remain intact for farming dew and seeds. Due to the requirement of most elemental influences in the counter, this is a rather hard pet to obtain. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Chaos sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Gold Dragon[]

Gold Dragon Idle
Gold Dragon
Missing NO.

Deably Breath ready to use.

It starts with:

  • HP: 110 (+10 per level)
  • Melee damage: min. 10 + pet's level, max. 10 + (pet's level * 5)
  • Evasion: 11 (+1 per level)
  • All its other stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

This is a totally new dragon variant. It is ready to get released after every elemental counter in the Soul of Mobs reaches 20 (only 10 Ice is needed if the month is December) and also the energy counter reaches 2,000, with the only exception being when the month is September, in which case a soul of mobs with the same influences always releases a Bug Dragon instead. Unlike all of the other dragons its listening message is: "Huge sound wave hurts your body", it eats meat, and has a special ranged attack named Deadly Breath, which deals damage equal to 5 times its regular melee damage. Note that its regular damage is also more than double than that of the other Soul of Mobs pets, which makes it a very powerful pet in all circumstances along with its Bug Dragon rare variant. It is the only pet that starts with 11 Evasion and 110 HP, but has the same levelling up rate. Its stats make it the strongest pet of SPS-PD along with its Bug Dragon rare variant, and with the Easter Bunny being the second strongest. Obviously, due to all the elemental influences needed this is a very hard pet to obtain. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Gold Dragon sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Soul of Gold Dragon SPS-PD
Soul of gold dragon
Soul of missing No.

Note: Missing No. most probably refers to an unofficial Pokemon species found in the video game series Pokemon Red and Blue. Players of this game series can only encounter Missing No. (short form of "missing number") via a glitch, while the fact that SPS-PD's Gold Dragon has a variant named Bug Dragon makes this reference even more probable.

Green Dragon[]

Green Dragon Idle
Green Dragon
Green Dragon is good at Electricity magic.

EMP ready to use.

It starts with:

  • Attack Delay: 0.8
  • Regeneration chance: 20% (same amount of HP gained with the default amount)
  • All its other stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It also exists in Sprouted PD with the same name. It is ready to get released after the Electricity counter of the Soul of Mobs reaches 20 (by zapping it with the wand of Lightning, creating an electricity storm around it with the wand of Thoundercloud or throwing it at Lightning, Shock and Storm traps – the Shock trap charges the counter up to 10 at once and Storm trap charges the counter up to 20 immediately, while the wand of Thundercloud's charging depends on the power of the storm it creates). Its listening message is: "You hear big noise", it eats meat and scrolls of Recharging, and has a ranged Lightning special attack (named EMP by the game), which deals double the pet's regular damage and it is further increased by +50% against enemies standing on water. Unlike most soul of mobs pets, it has double the chance of gaining HP at each turn, at 20% and also it is a little quicker in in its melee attacks, as it has an attack delay of 0.8. Traps and wands associated with electricity damage are rather many all together, so this pet can be considered rather easy to obtain. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Green Dragon sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Light Dragon[]

Light dragon SPS-PD
Light Dragon
It is a light dragon.

Light Shoot is ready.

  • Its basic stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

This is a totally new dragon variant. It is ready to get released after the Dark counter (yes, the Dark counter, it is not a typo) in the Soul of Mobs reaches 20 (by throwing it on Flock, Guardian - but not Alarm - or Summoning traps, or zapping it with a wand of Flock). Its listening message is: "You hear big noise", it is eats meat, and has a special ranged attack named Light Shoot, which is a bolt of Light that deals damage equal to enemy's current HP/4 and also Blinds enemies. The high damage output of its special attack makes it the second strongest dragon in SPS-PD and also the third strongest pet in general (although its all other stats are not exceptional), after the Gold/Bug Dragon and the Easter Bunny. The wand and traps related with its hatching are all rather uncommon but not rare, so this is a moderately difficult pet to obtain. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of White Dragon sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Random Soul[]

Random Soul card SPS-PD
Random soul
Summon a random basic pet.

It is one of the two SPS-PD's equivalents of Sprouted PD's eggs. This item will be dropped on the ground if the hero breaks a Soul of Mobs with no elemental energies and at least with 100 energy from their backpack (with less energy the Soul of Mobs will just get wasted). There in no listening message that prepares for the release of the Random Soul itself. It is also a starting item of all Classic skins and gets sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold, but it doesn't spawn as loot in the dungeon, in contrast to the Soul of Mobs, which is an infrequent drop/find.

Red Dragon[]

Red Dragon Idle
Red Dragon
Red Dragon is good at Fire magic.

Flame Breath ready to use.

  • Its basic stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It also exists in Sprouted PD with the same name. It is ready to get released after the Fire counter in the Soul of Mobs reaches 20, (by zapping it with the wand of Firebolt or Meteorite, by throwing potions of Liquid Flame at it, or by throwing it at Firebloom plants, Fire and Blazing traps – Wand of Meteorite gives 1 charge, Wand of Firebolt, potion of Liquid Flame, Firebloom plant and Fire trap give 2 charges, Blazing trap gives 5 charges). Its listening message is "You hear big noise.", it eats meat and potions of Liquid Flame, and has a ranged Fire special attack (named Flame Breath by the game), which deals double its regular damage. Unlike its Sprouted PD equivalent it rarely ignites flammable tiles or causes the Burning debuff to enemies, but it still does, so it is not a good idea to get taken along in depths with high grass that the hero wants to remain intact for farming dew and seeds. Because of the good amount of fire related traps and the potions of liquid flame and firebloom seeds being common drops, this is the easiest dragon to obtain. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Red Dragon sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Shadow Dragon[]

Shadow Dragon Idle
Shadow Dragon
Dark dragon, brings shadow, is born in light.

Shadow Wave ready to use.

  • Its basic stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It also exists in Sprouted PD with the same name, but it is nerfed very much in SPS-PD in comparison. It is ready to get released after the Light counter (yes, the Light counter, it is not a typo) in the Soul of Mobs reaches 20, by throwing it on Flashing traps or zapping it with the Wand of Light. Its listening message is: "You hear big noise", it eats meat, and has a ranged Shadow special attack (named "Shadow Wave" by the game), which deals triple its regular damage. Nevertheless, its shadow special attack is a Dark elemental one, which is unfortunately the element/enchantment that many enemies, including most bosses, have resistance or immunity against, so this pet can eiither deal a lot of damage with its special attack, or very little/none at all. As a consequence practically it deals the less damage in a general sum compared to all the other dragons of SPS-PD and it is very much nerfed compared with its equivalent in Sprouted PD, which is the strongest pet of that game. Lastly, as there is no Dragon Cave depth anymore, the only ways for the hero to obtain a Shadow Dragon are those already mentioned before in this paragraph. The wand and traps related with its hatching are all rather uncommon but not rare, so this is a moderately difficult pet to obtain. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Shadow Dragon sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Velocirooster[]

Velocirooster Sprouted PD
Velocirooster
The Velocirooster is a vicious cousin of the domesticated rooster. It races through the dungeon and attacks with razor sharp talons and a vicious beak. This one has a collar with a tag. It reads: "To Sprouted from Unleashed. Please enjoy this Velocirooster."

Claw ready to use. Cock-a-doodle-roar!

It starts with:

  • Regeneration chance: 5% (amount of HP gained same with the default amount)
  • All its other stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It also exists in Sprouted PD with the same name. It is ready to get released after the Fire counter in the Soul of Mobs reaches 5 (by zapping it with the wand of Firebolt or Meteorite, by throwing potions of Liquid Flame at it, or by throwing it at Firebloom plants, Fire and Blazing traps – Wand of Meteorite gives 1 charge, Wand of Firebolt, Fire trap, Firebloom plant and potion of Liquid Flame give 2 charges, Blazing trap gives a full charge for a Velocirooster). Its listening message is: "You hear a whisper", it eats seeds and nuts, and has a Claw stronger melee attack as its special attack, which is double its regular melee damage. Unlike most Soul of Mobs pets, it has half the chance at gaining HP each turn at only 5%, but after the recent buffing of all pets it is rarely in the danger of taking too much damage and dying, it just needs a bit more attention than the other pets. It is a very easily obtained pet but also not as strong compared to the other pets that are also easily available, mostly because of the mediocre effect of its special attack, so better zap/throw the Soul of Mobs on fire a little more and get a Red Dragon. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Velocirooster sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Soul of Velocirooster SPS-PD
Soul of velocirooster

Note: The Velocirooster pet is inherited from Sprouted PD, but it was originally an enemy in Unleashed PD, from which Sprouted PD has borrowed its sprite, that's why that mod and not Sprouted PD is mentioned in the pet's description. As a side note, in Sprouted PD part of its game description also mentions Unleashed PD: "This Velocirooster has a collar with a tag. It reads: To Sprouted from Unleashed. Please enjoy this Velocirooster."

Violet Dragon[]

Violet Dragon Idle
Violet Dragon
Violet Dragon is good at Earth magic.

Poison touch ready to use.

It starts with:

  • Attack Delay: 0.8
  • Regeneration chance: 20% (amount of HP gained same with the default amount)
  • All its other stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It also exists in Sprouted PD with the same name. It is ready to get released after the Earth counter in the Soul of Mobs reaches 20 (by zapping it with a wand of Acid or Poison, or throwing it on Ooze, Poison, Venom Gas, Toxic Gas and Weakening traps - Sorrowmoss plant has no influence on the Soul of Mobs, neither does Toxic Gas itself, but only the Toxic Gas trap tile). Its listening message is "You hear big noise", it eats meat and potions of Toxic Gas, and has a ranged Poison special attack (named Poison Touch by the game), which deals double its regular damage. Unlike most Soul of Mobs pets, it has double the chance at gaining HP each turn, at 20% and also it is a little quicker in in its melee attacks, as it has an attack delay of 0.8. Because of the good amount of traps and wands that are available and can give the specific influence, this is the second easiest dragon to obtain, with the Red dragon being first. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Violet Dragon sold by Pet Dealer Lery for 12,500 gold.

Web Spider[]

Spider Sprouted PD
Web Spider
A small fuzzy spider seems to like trying to hide under your armor. However, despite its clingy shyness, it looks ready to help just like any good pet.

Web is ready for use.

  • Its basic stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It also exists in Sprouted PD as a plain Spider. It is ready to get released after a Soul of Mobs remains between 1,000 and 2,000 turns in the hero’s backpack (i.e. the Energy counter reaches 1,000 or more, but before 2,000), and its listening message is: "You hear some word". Renamed from Sprouted PD’s Spider, it eats meat, Roots and Poisons enemies as a special attack when in melee range (it is named "Web" by the game) but doesn't flee afterwards like the Cave Spinners which have the same attack do. It is rather different from the useless Spider of Sprouted PD, as in SPS-PD it is as good in regular melee fighting as the rest of the Soul of Mobs pets and has the same amount of HP and evasion with them, only its special attack is less powerful. Note that it is also the only pet that its special attack can have a directly negative effect on the hero, because he/she also gets rooted by its webs. Because it requires just 1,000 turns for the Soul of Mobs to remain in the hero’s backpack, this is the easiest Soul of Mobs pet to obtain, but as there are also other easily obtainable pets, compared to them the Web Spider is not the best choice of a pet – the easiest alternative is just to wait for 1,000 turns more and get a Blood Scorpion instead, which has a much better special attack and also heals the hero. It is also a ready to get released pet from a Soul of Web sold by Pet Dealer Lery.

[Note: Readers should not expect to encounter any of the three pet types that follow in current SPS-PD. They are mentioned here only for possible future reference (first) and for comparison with previous versions of SPS-PD (second and third).]

Bomb Cat (currently unavailable)[]

Bomb Cat
Just someone who can help your survival in the first few days. It might leave soon.

Super Explode ready to use.

There is also a Bomb Cat pet mentioned in the game code, alternatively called also Cococat, which also has a separate pet card releasing it, but neither this pet nor its card spawn currently in SPS-PD by influencing the Soul of Mobs, and the Pet Dealer Lery does not sell it. In the code it is described as having 10,000 HP, evasion 5 + pet's level, accuracy is not mentioned so it is most probably the same with the other soul of mobs pets, it deals the default melee damage of most pets, has Super Exlode (trowing Build Bombs) as its special attack and eats nuts. Due to it being OP because of its insane amount of HP, it vanishes after a while and it is more an ally than a pet. Note that this paragraph has been added for reasons of possible future reference, and players should not expect to have a Bomb Cat pet in current SPS-PD.

Life Fairy and Lifestealer (withdrawn)[]

In all the previous versions of SPS-PD they were available as pets and were very similar to the Fairy pets of Sprouted PD, but they have been changed to the Fairy and Warlock Fairy allies (see section above for details about them).

Pet card-only pets[]

Bunny of Easter Egg[]

Bunny Sprouted PD
Bunny of Easter Egg
As Easter traditions, Easter bunnies and eggs were once famous all over the world.

Wild Bite ready to use.

It starts with:

  • Regeneration amount: 20 HP (same regeneration chance with the default chance)
  • All its other stats are those mentioned in the beginning for all Soul of Mobs pets.

It also exists in Sprouted PD as Bunny. The Soul of Rabbit that releases it spawns rarely in gardens and only on April and May like the Rainbow Egg does in Sprouted PD, but during the rest of the year it gets always dropped by the Ice Corps boss in the Bossrush challenge and can be also bought from the Pet Dealer Lery’s store in Dolya Town for 12,500 gold. There isn't any way available to influence a Soul of Mobs in order to release a Bunny.

It eats seeds and has a super strong melee attack as its special attack: regular min. damage * 5 - regular max. damage * 4 (it is named Wild Bite by the game). Also, when it regenerates, it gains 20 HP instead of only 1, which along with its strong special attack makes it the second strongest pet of SPS-PD, after the Gold dragon/Bug dragon. Its soul getting always dropped by the Ice Corps boss of the Bossrush challenge makes it rather easily obtainable in theory, but because the Dungeon Guard that beating it gives access to the Bossrush challenge is a difficult opponent for heroes in early levels, it is practically a pet not easily obtainable before mid-game. Alternatively, if Pet Dealer Lery has spawned in Dolya Town heroes can just visit the town often and wait for Pet Dealer Lery to sell its pet card.

Baby Year (randomly available during most of the year)[]

Baby Year
A baby year

[Note: The Baby Year pet has the same sprite with the Year Best miniboss, and their sprite will be soon uploaded to the wiki.]

This pet is only available when the Year Beast miniboss in the Yog-Dzewa fight drops a Spring Festival Land dolya slate page, so the Spring Festival Town area becomes accessible, the hero can visit it, defeat the Year Beast for a second time there, and get the Soul of Year pet card dropped by it (unlike with the dolya slate page in depth 25, the Year Beast in Spring Festival Town always drops a Soul of Year pet card). If the Year Beast does not drop the Spring Festival Land page, and it does not do that every time during most of the year, the above whole chain of events will get broken, and the Baby Year pet will not be available at all (its pet card in never sold by Pet Dealer Lery, and a Soul of Mobs can't get influenced to release it, so it has the same limitations with the Easter Bunny, just stricter). During most of the year the Year Beast will drop the Spring Festival Land dolya slate page only if it is killed within 5 game turns, but from late January to early February the amount of turns needed will get overincreased to 1,000. The pet card is from the beginning ready to release the Baby Year, and when the hero listens to the pet card, he/she hears big noise.

It is a very a peculiar pet, as its max HP are 1,000 and its Evasion 50, while it is dealing damage 10 (+ current level*2) and has no special attack, but a special feature: it attracts enemies to attack it, and because of its high evasion and its immense amount of HP it is mostly functioning as a tanky distraction for them, allowing the hero to attack other enemies, or just take down the enemy that was attacking the pet. The rest of its stats are the same with those of the regular Soul of Mobs pets. As a side note, because of the general limitations that exist for all pets to travel to any area outside of the main dungeon and at the same time because of the fact that the Baby Year pet starts becoming available only after the main dungeon is fully explored, the Baby Year ends up more a game novelty than a practically useful pet.

[Note: the pet card of the Baby Year has the same sprite with the Random Soul but a different title.]

Hierarchy of pet hatching[]

SPS-PD follows most of Sprouted PD’s hierarchy of pet hatching (and when a pet does not exist in Sprouted PD, its position in the hierarchy of SPS-PD is based more or less on the rarity of the needed influences). That means that if more than one influence is fulfilled for a Soul of Mobs, the higher in hierarchy pet is chosen by the game (the list goes from highest to lowest):

  1. Gold Dragon [All + Energy] / Bug Dragon [All + Energy + September]
  2. Shadow Dragon [Light]
  3. Chaos Elemental [Most + Energy]
  4. Blue Dragon [Ice]
  5. Light Dragon [Dark]
  6. Violet Dragon [Earth]
  7. Green Dragon [Electricity]
  8. Red Dragon [Fire]
  9. Velocirooster [Fire]
  10. Blood Scorpion [Energy]
  11. Web Spider [Energy]

For example, if a Soul of Mobs has 2,500 Energy, 20 Ice and 20 Fire in its counter, it will hatch a Blue Dragon and not a Red Dragon or a Blood Scorpion.

All Random Soul pets and also the Baby Year and Bunny of Easter Egg pets can't be a product of elemental or other influence on the Soul of Mobs and they are either released randomly by a Random Soul, or only get released by specific pet cards (Bunny of Easter Egg, Baby Year), so they are not included in the above list.

List of Influences (Plants, Potions, Traps, Wands) on Soul of Mobs > Pets[]

  • All > Gold Dragon (20 Elemental, 2,000 Energy), Bug Dragon (20 Elemental, 2,000 Energy, September)
  • Dark - Wand of Flock, Flock/Guardian/Summoning traps > Light Dragon
  • Earth - Wands of Acid/Poison, Ooze/Poison/Venom/Weakening traps > Violet Dragon (20)
  • Electricity (misspelled as "Electy" in the soul counter) - Wand of Lightning & Thundercloud, Shock, Lightning and Storm traps > Green Dragon (20)
  • Energy - Turns in hero’s backpack > Blood Scorpion (2,000), Web Spider (1,000)
  • Fire - Wands of Firebolt/Meteorite, Fire/Blazing traps, Potion of Liquid Flame, Firebloom plant > Red Dragon (20), Velocirooster (5)
  • Ice – Wand of Freeze, Frost trap, Potion of Frost, Icecap plant > Blue Dragon (20, Decemeber 10)
  • Light – Wand of Light, Flashing trap > Shadow Dragon (20)
  • Month - April and May > Bunny of Easter Egg (in the sense that its pet card might spawn in the dungeon as loot, but a Soul of Mobs can be influenced to release it), Bug Dragon (20 Elemental, 2,000 Energy, September)
  • Most: Earth, Energy, Fire, Ice, Lightning > Chaos Elemental (5 Elemental, 50 Energy)
  • None > Baby Year, Fly, Gentle Crab, Metal Klik, Ribbon  Rat, Snake, Spidersilk Klik

Note that apart from the potions of Frost and Liquid Flame, and the Firebloom and Icecap plants, no other potion or plant has an elemental influence on pet hatching, unlike Sprouted PD. Many wands also have no elemental influence in the Soul of Mobs (Wands of Blood, Charm, Disintegration, Flow, Magic Missile). Lastly, several traps (Alarm, Confusion, Cursing, Disarming, Disintegration, Distortion, Explosive, Grim, Gripping, Paralytic gas, Pitfall, Rockfall, Spear, Teleportation, Warping, Worn Out) have no elemental influence in the Soul of Mobs - interestingly, also none of them can destroy it.

List of Pets based on the difficulty to obtain them[]

  • Extremely hard: Baby Year, Bug Dragon (unless the time period is appropriate)
  • Very hard: Gold Dragon
  • Hard: Chaos Elemental
  • Moderate: Bunny of Easter Egg, Light Dragon, Shadow Dragon
  • Easy: Blue Dragon, Green Dragon, Violet Dragon
  • Very Easy: Blood Scorpion, Red Dragon, Velocirooster, Web Spider
  • No difficulty: Fly, Gentle Crab, Metak Klik, Ribbon Rat, Snake, Spidersilk Klik

Apart from the Random Soul pets, which are all instantly available, the easiest pets to hatch are the Web Spider and the Blood Scorpion (they only need a lot of turns in the hero’s backpack) and also the Red Dragon and Velocirooster (1 potion, 1 plant, 2 wands and 3 different traps can all have a Fire elemental influence). The Blue Dragon is also rather easy to hatch, because apart from a trap and a wand, a plant and a potion can also be used for the Ice elemental influence. The Violet Dragon can also be considered easy to hatch, because of the availability of Ooze, Poison, Venom Gas, Toxic Gas and Weakening traps, but less than the previous dragons. The hatching of almost all the other pets depends very much on the RNG of each run, with the pets that need a combination of influences or a chain of events the most difficult among all. Lastly, the Bunny of Easter Egg is a deviation from the above, as a Soul of Mobs can't get influenced by any element to hatch it, but it is always a drop from the Ice Corps boss in the Bossrush challenge. The difficulty to obtain it is judged as moderate, because the Dungeon Guard that gives access to the Bossrush challenge is a rather difficult opponent for heroes in early levels, so this pet becomes practically obtainable only from mid-game and on.

Late-game survivability[]

  • Excellent: Baby Year, Bunny of Easter Egg, Bug/Gold Dragon
  • Very Good: Blue Dragon, Chaos Elemental, Green Dragon, Light Dragon, Red Dragon, Violet Dragon, Shadow Dragon
  • Good: Blood Scorpion, Velocirooster, Web Spider
  • Mediocre: Fly, Gentle Crab, Metal Klik, Ribbon Rat, Snake, Spidersilk Klik

Note: The survivability of all pets has been much improved in recent versions of SPS-PD, but in older versions the Random Soul pets didn't have any chance to survive from mid-game and on, and that was also rather difficult for the Blood Scorpion, Velocirooster and Web Spider.
