[This wiki page is updated with the changes from the developer's latest release "Epic Battle (4): City's Chaos War A " (link to the latest apk). Some changes were implemented in cooking food in this version along with some bugfixes: the addition of the Vegetable food item, which is an important ingredient as it replaces mushrooms in many recipes, the nerfing of the raw meat debuffs, the removal of mushrooms from recipes and their change to a cookable item, the addition of almost 15 new cooking recipes. Also many new recipes for bombs and ammunition were added, which are displayed in the Alchemy page.]

File:Cooking.jpg

In addition to creating potions and blandfruits in exactly the same manner as Sprouted (3 seeds / Blandfruit + seed), Alchemy Pots are now mostly used to combine various foods and other ingredients together into meals and combat-related and other miscellaneous items. As a matter of fact in SPS-PD they are much more Kitchens and Workshops than Alchemy Pots. For details about the combat-related and miscellaneous items you can visit SPS-PD's Alchemy page. Most cooked foods are more filling than their individual components or their simpler “non cooked” counterparts like chargrilled meat and frozen carpaccio. They become essential to players deep in the dungeon, as common food items satisfy much less hunger than before. Food can be a scarce resource in some parts of the dungeon, however, also eating lots of food at once can now grant the "Overfed" buff to increase a player's attack. Additionally, a high-levelled Alchemist's Toolkit can give players up to two more slots for inputting ingredients, allowing the cooking of certain super foods with many buffs and/or cures like the six different types of Pills, Foamed Beverage and especially Hamburger and Perfect Food, which would normally be unobtainable. On the other hand, it has lost its function to help brew more potions with less seeds, and it has become practically a Culinary Toolkit in SPS-PD.

File:Alchemy.jpg

Be careful about what the hero inputs, as almost all trial-and-error recipes will result in the creation of a "Garbage" item, that hurts the hero when eaten, barely satisfies any hunger at all, and can only be sold for 10G. In the hero stats’ tab there is a hunger counter that can range from 0 to 800. After 600 the hero will become “Hungry”, which has no effect and is just a warning that “Starving” at 800 is near, which causes appr. -1% of HP every 10 turns (in integer numbers, so it will always be -1 HP in low levels, and will increase following the hero's HP increase). Hunger increases by 1 per 1 turn, but practically in the counter by 10 every 10 turns. One thing to note is that if hunger is equal to 800, the amount of hunger reduced by food is multiplied by 1.5 (in previous versions there was a minor bug that was happening randomly and not often: sometimes hunger surpassed the 800 limit and reached 805 to 810 and in this case the 1.5 multiplier did not work - this bug seems to have been fixed). As it will become apparent in the following section, scrolls, potions, meat, berries, mushrooms, seeds, clean water, honey, gel, stone ores, rations, and nuts can all be used in cooking.

[Note: Normally the outcome of brewing, cooking etc. is not shown in the right box of the alchemy interface, and the player has to know which ingredients to combine. The pictures were merged here for economy of space.]

Food Recipes and Edible Consumables

All food apart from Garbage has a minor or major healing effect (technically, even Garbage has one, but the healing is less than the damage done). In the following list, when an item is described as a “Random Drop” with "No recipe", that means practically that it is only found, sold or dropped in the dungeon. Apart from plain Honey, all other types of cooked food (including recipes with honey) as well as rations of both sizes and pasties are sold in the Dolya Town food shop of Cooker M.O.S., but other random drops like meat or nuts aren’t, nor is garbage.

A recipe the requires “Meat” will accept (plain) Meat, Mystery Meat, Chargrilled Meat, or Frozen Carpaccio. A recipe that requires “Ration” will accept an Overpriced Ration, a regular Food Ration or a Pasty (or any holiday version of Pasty). All cooked items apart from Chargrilled Meat, Cooked Blandfruit and Frozen Carpaccio can't be recooked: for example, 1 mushroom and 2 Herb Meats will produce Garbage and not Kebab, even though apparently Herb Meat contains meat. All recipes in the current version of SPS-PD work without a pronbblem.. They are listed in order of hunger satisfaction. After these detailed decriptions get displayed, a concise table with all the recipes follows.

Edible Consumables and Recipes that require only 2 or 3 Alchemy slots

[Note: In the just immediately previous version "City's Chaos War (without A)" all recipes with vegetables could be also made with mushrooms, but this is not possible anymore. As the two versions are very similar, players should check the main screen to see if there is an A at the end of the version's title or not, or just try to combine two meats and a mushroom and see if the result is a kebab (version without A) or garbage (version with A).]

Garbage

Null Food
Garbage
Only garbage in here.
  • Recipe: Any combination that isn't included in this list and in the list of the Alchemy page.

Blue Milk mushroom

[Note: There was a change made in the update of the latest version, City Chaos War A, in which the mushrooms have become unavailable as ingredients for cooking and only the Vegetable can be used in their recipes (they remain edible items though). In addition, all mushrooms can now be created via cooking. Also as their effects are the same with Sprouted, Sprouted's descriptions which give all the important details are also displayed.]

Every pet loves it, that is why it is called pet food.
  • Recipe: Clean Water + 2 (raw or toasted) Nuts

  • Recipe: None

Random drop mostly from high grass (Thieves also have a 10% chance to drop it, and also Albino Giant Piranhas after some of thse initially spawned get killed). It is also sometimes sold in the Northwest shop in Dolya Town. Hunger –20, no special effects. Due to its low nutritional value and its rarity it is much better to be used as an ingredient in the many recipes it is included, some of which produce high quality food items. Not to be confused with the removed Edible Grass item, with which they share the same sprite.

Berries

[As the effects of the berries are the same with Sprouted, Sprouted's descriptions are also displayed.]

Black berry
Black berry
A delectable berry. This berry is full with life energy.

This dark red berry grants Regeneration, and occasionally Mind Vision. Invaluable in boss fights and on tough floors.

Blue berry

A mysterious blue berry. It is full of knowledge.

This deep blue berry reveals the map of the current floor, including secret doors and traps. It also reveals all items. Occasionally grants Regeneration. [In SPS-PD it doesn't reveal secret doors and secret traps, but grants the Treasure Search ability that shows all loot in the floor, apart from that in hidden rooms.]

[Note: Selemene is the goddess of the moon in the Dota 2 game.]

Cloud berry
Cloud berry

  • Recipe: None

Random Drops, with the sole exception of the Full Moon Berry, which is only found in the "Prison reward bag", which the 100th Mossy Skeleton drops in the Prison Challenge as a challenge reward. Hunger –50, they cause various beneficial effects each, which are almost exactly the same with Sprouted (with a minor difference in the Blue berry), and most have a chance to cause Regeneration. Practically eaten for their buffs and not for their nutritional value.

Edible Grass

Removed: Edible Grass
Some simple vegetable.
  • Recipe: Clean Water + Seed (not Nut) / Berry

This recipe seems to have been removed and produces Garbage in the latest version of SPS-PD, although the item still exists in the game code. Its effects used to be: Hunger –60, removed Crippled, Bleeding, Weakness, and Poison debuffs.

Mystery Meat

SproutedPD mystery meat
Mystery Meat
Eat at your own risk!
  • Recipe: None

Random Drop. Hunger –75, has a moderate chance of randomly causing Fire, Poisoning, Rooting, or Slowness like in Sprouted, but it does this less often than in that mod. It usually doesn't cause any debuffs in SPS-PD, but when it does, they can be harsh (for example its poisoning will reduce the hero's HP from full to almost zero) so eating it raw should generally be avoided. However, it works fine in any recipe that requires meat, and if there is not an alchemy pot easily available, there are many ways to burn or freeze it and make it safe chargrilled meat or frozen carpaccio.

Honey

Honey (SPS-PD)
Honey
It is made by honeypot.
  • Recipe: Honeypot, Shattered or normal

Vegetable Soup

Vegetable Soup
Vegetable Soup

Ice Cream
Ice-cream
A honey icecream.
  • Recipe: Clean water + Icecap seed + Honey

Hunger –90, +5 to 12 maximum HP permanently, removes Poison, Weakness, Bleeding, Burning debuffs, and heals up to half the hero’s maximum HP.

Meat

Mystery meat
Meat
Just like normal meat sold in the market.
  • Recipe: None

Random Drop. Hunger –100, has a low chance of randomly causing Fire, Poisoning, Rooting, or Slowness like in Sprouted. Mildly dangerous, it should be eaten only when there are no means to make it safe (burning / freezing / cooking).

Chargrilled meat

Chargrilled meat
Chargrilled Meat
It looks like a decent steak.
  • Recipe: None

Obtained by igniting Meat or Mystery Meat, Hunger –100, no extra effects.

  • Recipe: None

Unique edible item that is granted as a reward if the hero completes all challenge depths with above 100 kills in each. Hunger –100. Grants either +1 Str, +60 HP or +2 Str, +30 HP permanently. Obviously it is eaten for its big benefit in stats and not for its nutritional value.

Fruit Salad

Fruit Salad
Fruit Salad
This food is made by fruit and water. In this world, you don't need salad.
  • Recipe: Clean Water + 2 Berries

Hunger –130, heals 33% of maximum HP, with the possibility of overfilling the hero’s health.

Blandfruit cooked

Raw: Blandfruit / Cooked: (Seed name)fruit
Raw: So dry and insubstantial, perhaps stewing it with another ingredient would improve it.

Cooked: The fruit has plumped up from its time soaking in the pot and has even absorbed the properties of the seed it was cooked with. It looks ready to be eaten!

The raw Blandfruit fruit can be cooked with any seed to produce different types of cooked blandfruits, a few combinations are useless or of low value though:

  • + Blandfruit seed / Seed Pod seed > the seed gets spent and a still uncooked blandfruit is produced (don"t do it).
  • + Blindweed > Blindfruit, grants the Attack Up and Invisibility buffs for 15 turns, unthrowable.
  • + Dewcatcher / Upgrade Eater > Heartfruit, functions like a potion of Life overfilling the hero's HP bar, unthrowable.
  • + Dreamfoil > Dreamfruit, grants the Holy Light buff for 10 turns and Immune to Gases buff for 15 turns, when thrown shatters like a Potion of Purification.
  • + Earthroot > Earthfruit, when eaten grants the Imbued with Earth buff for 30 turns, when thrown functions like a potion of Paralytic Gas.
  • + Fadeleaf > Fadefruit, grants the Treasure Search buff for 5 turns and the Mind Vision buff for 40 turns, unthrowable.
  • + Firebloom > Firefruit, when eaten grants the Imbued with Fire buff for 30 turns, when thrown functions like a potion of Liquid Flame.
  • + Icecap > Icefruit, when eaten functions just like a Frozen Carpaccio but satisfies +150 hunger, when thrown functions like a potion of Frost.
  • + Phase Pitcher > Mightyfruit, adds +15 HP to the hero's max HP but not +1 Str. like it does in Sprouted, unthrowable.
  • + Rotberry > Rotfruit, adds +1 Str. like in Sprouted, unthrowable.
  • + Sorrowmoss > Sorrowfruit, when eaten grants the Imbued the Imbued with Toxicity buff for 30 turns, when thrown functions like a potion of Toxic Gas.
  • + Starflower > Starfruit, doesn't automatically level up the hero but adds randomly an amount of XP between the hero's current gathered XP and the hero's max XP (the hero better eat it a little before leveling up, to secure the immedate stat upgrading), and also grants the Bless buff for 20 turns.
  • + Stormvine > Stormfruit, when eaten grants the Levitation buff for 20 turns and the Defense Up buff for 10 turns, when thrown releases Confusion Gas like a potion of Levitation would.
  • + Sungrass > Sunfruit, functions like a Healing potion, unthrowable.

Most of the blandfruit outcomes when they are eaten and thrown are similar with those of Shattered PD but with the additional potion side effects or changes of SPS-PD, apart from the fact that when they are thrown, they don't leave blandfruit chunks. The cooked blandfruits that were described as "unthrowable" can actually get thrown, but do not shatter when thrown. All cooked blandfruits satisfy +150 hunger. A summary table follows:

Seed Blandfruit Effect (only eaten or eaten / thrown)
Blandfruit uncooked none
Blindweed Blindfruit Invisibilty p.
Dewcatcher Heartfruit Life p.
Dreamfoil Dreamfruit Purification p.
Earthroot Earthfruit Imbued with Earth / Paralytic gas p.
Fadeleaf Fadefruit Mid Vision p.
Firebloom Firefruit Imbued with Fire / Liquid Flame p.
Icecap Icefruit Frozen Carpaccio / Frost p.
Phase Pitcher Mightyfruit +15 HP
Rotberry Rotfruit Strength p.
Seed Pod uncooked none
Sorrowmoss Sorrowfruit Imbued with Toxicity / Toxic gas p.
Starflower Starfruit Experience p.
Sungrass Sunfruit Healing p.
  • Hunger –150, due to its rarity, it is basically eaten in specific circumstances for its various beneficial effects in combination with the different seeds and not for its nutritional value (Icefruit is the only one that has no guaranteed extra effects and functions just like the food item of Frozen Carpaccio while satisfying +150 hunger - don't cook an Icefruit for eating it, but only if you need a potion of Frost and don;t have enough Icecap seeds to brew a potion). Also, een if the hero wants to, it cannot be eaten raw (there is even a game message: "You can't bear to eat it raw!").

Note: Apparently some recipes produce food much more efficient in satisfying hunger than other recipes, but on the other hand these “low hunger satisfaction” recipes provide very useful buffs or cures (for example Fruit Salad reduces hunger only by –130, but heals 33% of maximum HP, with the possibility of overfilling the hero’s health), so it will be better for the hero to wait until he/she gathers the necessary material for a recipe that he/she will need more, rather than cook all the food he/she can with the recipe ingredients which are already available to him/her.
