[This wiki page describes the current version "0.9.4 Testers' Party - The Start". Τhree secondary changes have been made in this version: a) the Spring Festival Town depth of the directly previous version "Year Hunter" is still available but much more difficult to become available (in the sense that the Year Beast miniboss currently drops its Dolya Slate page in the Yog-Dzewa depth only if it gets killed within 5 turns, and not within 1,000 turns, which was the prerequisite during the Spring Festival celebrations), b) the Stone Beetle enemy has been added in Dolya Town, which attacks the hero in every visit, and c) although no new NPCs have been introduced in Dolya Town, some familiar NPCs who were already existing in Dolya Town now add something new to their behavior after the hero defeats Zot and can give to the hero an item or offer a service. This last new feature of these NPCs has given to this version its name, as they are all inspired by actual playtesters of SPS-PD, but it is still in development, so nothing has been drastically changed in SPS-PD's end-game yet. Nevertheless, the developer plans to add a fully developed storyline regarding these playtester NPCs in a future version. The inspiration behind the name of this new version and behind the storyline that remains to be fully developed becomes evident in this version's introductory message: "At the start of 2020 a horrible virus attacked our world. We don't know where it came from, but we have survived from it... for now. Home quarantine is boring, so some testers decided to improve this test version. The first part of Testers' Internet Party has started." You can read about SPS-PD's Sokoban puzzles in their separate page and about the Energy Core fight in the Bosses page.]

Dolya Town (formerly Dolyahaven) generally[]

Dolya Slate contents SPS-PD

Dolya Town is sorted sixth in Dolya Slate's contents, after the hero has gathered all of its missing pages, and its depth has the number 55. Its page is named "Invitation to Town" and is always sold in the Caves shop for 2,250 gold. When the hero first arrives in Dolya Town, this message is displayed: Dolya, located in the northwest of the Empire, is famous for its beautiful and unique scenery. Xianquan mountain is sheer and cliffy, which is known as the natural scenery of Dolya. Sorry, there are no tours and other services available in this scenic spot at the present. Note: xian quan in Chinese means "solenoid", a type of coil.

Apart from being renamed to Dolya Town, Dolyahaven has had so many changes that it has gained an entire new purpose. Now that the Dolyahaven Mines have been completely removed, this little village of Sprouted PD has become a town in SPS-PD for the hero to increase their stats, interact with 52 NPCs (the vast majority of them totally new in relation to Sprouted PD) and accept new quests. However, it is initially rather restricted; as the hero progresses through the dungeon, more services are added into Dolya Town and also some additional NPCs start appearing. Consumable items and characters able to receive damage are regenerated in Dolya Town in every hero's new visit, so the shops have totally new merchandise, enemies killed in the previous visit respawn (with the only exception of the Violet Dragon that after it gets killed does not respawn), previously opened chests reappear with new loot etc.

After defeating one of the third chapter's bosses the hero should open in each visit the two chests that start spawning in the Cooker M.O.S. room, as they always contain items like common berries and Starflower seeds, but most often pieces of dark gold (after many visits in Dolya Town, the hero will not need any mining to fulfill the Blaksmiths' demands for it). In addition, 7 more chests also spawn after defeating any of these chapter bosses, but they are only accessible if he/she buys two keys for the hotel room at the top right and Locastan's room at the top left of Dolya Town, and 2 more spawn after defeating one of the fourth chapter's bosses (these chests are located inside the open room at the east corner of Dolya Town with the Honey Poooot, Jinkeloid and Rawberry NPCs in it). Note that the previous game-crashing bug that was being triggered by the hero sleeping in the hotel room bed has been fixed, in the more general sense that sleeping in that bed has been disabled.

Instead of generic villager NPCs, Dolya Town is inhabited with 52 friendly characters, most of whom are depictions: a) of developers and pixel artists of other Pixel Dungeon mods, including all that have influenced SPS-PD and also of some fellow Chinese developers, b) of a few redditers that the developer appreciates their work for the PD community, c) of translators of Pixel Dungeon mods to Chinese, and d) of SPS-PD's playtesters (the majority of the most recently added NPCs belong to this last category, and have also given to the current version its name, "Testers' Party"). On a side note, this can be described as a manifestation of the Confucian principle of reciprocity - bao, which encourages people to show their gratitude not just verbally by saying "thank you", but by acting in a manner that shows gratitude. That being said, someone not familiar with the variety of PD mods could use Dolya Town as a fun introduction to the subject matter and also to some of the people that are involved with the Pixel Dungeon community, without bothering with more details than those mentioned in each NPC's game description. Also, although a wiki page about a roguelike game is apparently not the most appropriate place for literary criticism or social theory, it should be noted that SPS-PD is an excellent example of intertextuality and multiculturalism in both its NPCs' references and the multiethnic character of its holiday weapons.

Due to the very big number of Dolya Town's NPCs, they will be divided into four groups based on their location/lack of specific location: a) top left quarter (18 NPCs), b) top right quarter (14 NPCs), c) bottom half (14 NPCs) and d) wandering (6 NPCs). Some enemies are also located In Dolya Town which are described last and all together, as in contrast to the NPCs they are not many. Here is a full map of Dolya Town, divided in the first three aforementioned parts (characters cut by the map's internal borders are all wandering NPCs and were just "immobilized" by the screenshot):

Dolya Town map full & NPCs SPS-PD

Note that some NPCs start appearing in Dolya Town only after a condition is met (most often after the hero has earned a badge in the specific run, no matter if it has been earned in general or not), so players should not expect to see all the NPCs that follow in the hero's first visit in Dolya Town, the big majority of them will already be there though. A few NPCs (all of them playtesters of SPS-PD) also add some type of new behavior after Otiluke is rescued.

Lastly, in the current version of SPS-PD there is no way for a pet to exist in a Dolya Slate depth and as a consequence in Dolya Town, like they do in Sprouted PD: the Book of Soul (formerly whistle) doesn't work in general so it can't summon them, ready-to-generate-a-pet souls, pet cards or lanterns with a soul can't release a pet there and pets don't get teleported along with the hero to any Dolya Slate depth even when they are standing on a tile next to him/her. This applies also to the pet cards sold by Pet Dealer Lery, so don't worry if a pet card bought by the dealer doesn't offer an option to summon a pet, it will work just fine as soon as the hero returns to the regular dungeon.

Top Left quarter NPCs[]

Dolya Town NPCs top left quarter SPS-PD

Alfred, Abbey and Abeys[]

Alfred, Abbey and Abeys NPC SPS-PD
Alfred, Abbey and Abeys
This is the developer of Fushigi-No Pixel Dungeon.

They represent the developer of Fushigi No Pixel Dungeon, HappyAlfred. All three characters displayed are also NPCs of that mod. When the hero first interacts with him, he says: "Hello, I am Alfred, they are Abbey and Abeys." but in all the folowing interactions, an alchemy-pot-like game window titled Hungry Abbey will appear and Alfred will be saying each time: "Abbey is hungry, but I have no food now. Can you give me a ration, meat and fruit? I 'll give you something after I finish cooking." Note that by "fruit" Alfred means berry and that Alfred's window has the same restrictions with alchemy pots, so cooked meat or food items which contain ration or berries will produce garbage (so only raw/chargrilled/frozen meat, plain berries and overpriced food ration, regular ration and pasty/its holiday versions can produce a reward). After the player puts in the game window one item of each type and selects Combine, Alfred will give back an [Onigiri] Food Ration, a food item that satisfies only -200 Hunger, but is mostly useful due to the Fushigi No Bless buff it offers for 150 turns, which increases the hero's Luck by +5 (the effect is equal to having a +5 Lucky Badge equipped), and their Strength by +1. This food item is only available as a reward by Alfred and can be obtained as many times as the hero offers the requested food items for the hungry Abbey.

There is also a second item that this game window can generate, but it is an Easter Egg, as Alfred does not mention it at all. If the hero puts two Nut Vines and 1 random Berry, a tier 1 Leaf armor will be generated instead. The Leaf armor's sprite and name are borrowed from Happy Alfred's mod Fushigi No PD, so it is an expectable bonus offer from these NPCs. Its defense scaling is very low and it offers better defense only in comparison to the light Vest armor (slightly), while its other stats are very similar to the normal Cloth armor's. As a result, it is more a game novelty than an actually useful armor. They are already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Apostle[]

Apostle NPC SPS-PD
Apostle
A sparkling cube, mechanical and magnetic in sound, maybe it is one tester from another world. [Note that the lines inside the cube change colors rapidly like a kaleidoscope, but this can not be shown by a still image.]

They represent a playtester of SPS-PD. When the hero interacts with them they just say: "ONLY MAGIC CAN DEFEAT MAGIC." or "sadhidlsijkanduiowhaodiwjqa". They are already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Bilboldev[]

Bilboldev NPC SPS-PD
Bilboldev
This is the developer who has built Skillful Pixel Dungeon. He is a good person.

This chest represents Bilboldev, the developer of Skillful Pixel Dungeon. When the hero interacts with it, it says either: "LOL, you're gonna have to be patient with Skillful Pixel Dungeon updates. xD." (the chest is somewhat humble regarding the current state of this mod, as Skillful PD is often updated), "Well what's unique about SPD is the skill system and the campaign I plan on picking up soon.", or "Hatsune's sacrifice will not be forgotten!" (this last message is a reference to the only playable character of Skillful PD's campaign mode). It is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Bottom Shopkeeper[]

Shopkeeper
Shopkeeper
This stout guy looks more appropriate for a trade district in some large city than for a dungeon. His prices explain why he prefers to do business here.

He doesn't interact verbally with the hero, but only gives the option to the hero to buy items from him. He is one of the very few NPCs that exist also in Sprouted PD's Dolyahaven. For details about his merchandise see shops section below. Both of the Shopkeepers of Dolya Town start to sell their merchandise after the hero has obtained a level +12 or higher item, so if the hero doesn't use scrolls of Upgrade on one of their items and just upgrades them with dew, the shopkeepers will appear after he/she reaches the end of Demon Halls, and still a scroll or two might be needed to "unlock" them, as upgrading with dew sometimes adds +1/+2 extra levels to items, but does not do that very often, and the regular cap of upgrading with dew is level +10.

ConsideredHamster's Mimic[]

ConsideredHamster NPC SPS-PD
ConsideredHamster's Mimic
While this looks like the developer that has built YAPD, this is not him. Rather, it is his pet.

This pet mimic represents ConsideredHamster, the developer of Yet Another Pixel Dungeon. When the hero interacts with it, it says either: "I'm so hungry... I only need $1, could you feed me please...?", or "Pineapples!". It is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Cooker M.O.S.[]

Cooker M.O.S. NPC SPS-PD
Cooker M.O.S.
A tester from another world. He is a cook now.

He also represents an SPS-PD playtester. Unlike previous versions of SPS-PD Cooker M.O.S. is not already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit anymore, and only appears after the hero has eaten 40 food items and obtains the relevant badge. Then Cooker M.O.S. appears and opens a food store which sells randomly almost all of the food items that found/dropped as loot in the dungeon or are normally obtained only via cooking in alchemy pots, (with the exceptions of Honey and of all mushrooms, he sells food items cooked with honey though), and provides them in a random group of four food items in each hero's visit. When the hero interacts with him, he says either: "Need some food? Choose what you want." or "Before I started playing this game, I was an adventurer."

Hate Sokoban[]

Hate Sokoban NPC SPS-PD
Hate Sokoban
He is a tester from another world. Maybe he is from Pony Town.

He is another SPS-PD playtester, but he looks like a pink "My little pony" character and his sprite is most probably a reference to both the withdrawn mod of Remixed Dungeon "Pixel Ponies" and to the hate that many Sprouted PD players feel for the Sokoban puzzles. When the hero interacts with him, he says: "You know, this is just a game. I came here to test it, isn't that fun?", and "If you suck in any Sokoban level, try to use the wand of Flock. If you want to summon a fairy, use the wand of Flock to shoot the soul of mobs." Note that his second advice about the fairy was valid in previous versions of SPS-PD, but the pet fairy is changed into an ally summoned by a specific card in current SPS-PD and heroes can't get it by influencing souls of mobs anymore.

He is one of the NPCs that add something to their behavior after the hero defeats Zot, as a game window might start appearing with a message "Do you need a wand of Flock?", and after the hero selects "Ok", a wand of Flock is generated in the inventory for free. This window can appear randomly many times, and the hero can get many wands in this way for free, but with Zot having been defeated this gift isn't in any way game-changing. Note also that this NPC never offers a wand of Flock before Zot is defeated.

Locastan[]

Locastan NPC SPS-PD
Locastan
This is the developer who has built Goblins Pixel Dungeon. Goblins Pixel dungeon is based on Unleashed Pixel Dungeon.

This goblin represents Locastan, the developer of Goblins Pixel Dungeon, a mod of Unleashed Pixel Dungeon. When the hero interacts with him, he says either: "Huh, this lamp? Well you see, this is actually Unleashed Pixel Dungeon. If you don't mind, I need it in my adventure.", "It's not a piece of crap, it's a sophisticated adventuring tool.", or "This is a locked door, maybe I can open it." Note that he never opens the door, unless the hero buys another key from G2159687 to enter the room, in which case Locastan has no reaction. The room contains 3 treasure chests, but they start spawning only after the hero has beaten one of the third chapter's bosses.

Nut Painter[]

Nut Painter
A tester, he loves nuts.]

[This NPC's sprite has been recently retextured and his new image will be soon uploaded to the wiki.]

He represents another playtester of SPS-PD. He indeed loves nuts, as when the hero interacts with him he either says: "Nut is the best!" or "Nuts forever!" He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Nyrdie[]

Nyrdie NPC SPS-PD
Nyrdie
This is the developer who has built Remixed Pixel Dungeon. He is a little red mascot.

He is the little red mascot from the main menu of Remixed Dungeon that represents the developer of that mod, NYRDS (note that although the developer is mentioned as one, NYRDS is actually a developers' team, that uses this collective name and also has a "personal" profile with this name in some social media). When the hero first meets him, he says: "Hey folks! Nyrdie here.", and then "Advice of the day: don't forget to brush your teeth!" He is located just next to the top shopkeeper and is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Oldnewstwist[]

Oldnewstwist NPC naked SPS-PD
Oldnewstwist
A gnoll traveller. He is almost naked.

He represents Oldnewstwist, a pixel artist and secondary developer of Deistic Pixel Dungeon. He is hidden in a secret room in the back of Cooker M.O.S.' store. When the hero first meets him he is almost naked and says in a single message: "Ah! Please don't hurt me! I'm not like the other Gnolls you will find throughout the dungeon! Unlike the feral Gnolls you've encountered before, I'm from a clan of civilized, nomadic Gnolls. We travel from settlement to settlement in an attempt to spread our ways of peace and our tribal knowledge. I ended up here after being dragged away from my group, by those rabid thugs that I am ashamed to call brethren.", and if the hero talks to him again, he will say: "Brr.. It is cold. Why did those goons have to rip off my clothes..?". Although it is not as obvious as the quests of the NPCs in the main dungeon, this is also a quest for the hero: he/she can help Oldnewstwist by defeating the Gnoll King challenge boss in the Treasure Map challenge depth, who always drops the Gnoll Clothes item, which were stolen by Oldnewstwist (note the quest can be fullfilled without having first talked to Oldnewstwist, as the Gnoll King will always drop the clothes anyway).

Gnoll clothes Oldnewstwist NPC SPS-PD
Gnoll clothes
A small, delicate windbreaker. It doesn't seem to be the size of a human being.

When the hero meets Oldnewstwist with the Gnoll Clothes in the inventory, he will then say: "I heard you defeated the evil Gnoll King! That's great! He won't be terrorizing us anymore! Hey, did he have any clothes?" A game window appears asking for the hero to give him his clothes, and immediately afterwards the character's sprite changes to a more modest version of a gnoll rogue and Oldnewstwist says: "These fine fibers will keep me very warm! Thank you for the clothes, and thank you again for defeating the evil Gnoll King." At the hero's next visit in Dolya Town he wil have already opened up a shop of his own that sells a single holiday weapon like a Christmas Tree or a Pumpkin Lamp, different in each hero's visit. When the hero interacts with him now, he will either repeat the just previous message, or he will say: "By the way, I'm selling out-of-season holiday weapons now." Note that Oldnewstwist is slightly inaccurate, as he sells randomly all of the game's holiday weapons, including the Key Message, which is currently the on-season holiday weapon and is also sold in the depth 1 shop of the main dungeon. The only difference between the two key messages is that Oldnewstwist sells all of his weapons for 2,500 gold, while the Key Message in the depth 1 shop costs only 500 gold, so buying this specific weapon from Oldnewstwist is certainly not a bargain (visit the melee weapons page of SPS-PD for a full list of holiday weapons).

Oldnewstwist NPC clothed SPS-PD
Oldnewstwist
Now that he has the warmth of good clothing, he can comfortably begin some trading of his own.

All the weapons that Oldnewstwist sells are very interesting, as they refer to different world cultures and religions and give the game a multiethnic feel, which must certainly be applauded as a developer’s decision in general. Nevertheless, they are also all tier 1 weapons, are sold for 2,500 gold each, and with only three exceptions they deal very low damage because they have the lowest damage scaling with upgrades, +1/+1. So, by the time the hero will be able to kill the Gnoll King and give Oldnewstwist the Gnoll Clothes, he/she will have no practical use for most of these weapons, apart from decorating the Safe Room for Christmas, Halloween or the Chinese Spring Festival. The three exceptions, but which among them only one is a really worthwhile purchase are: a) the Lollipop which deals an impressive damage of 50 points at level 0, but due to its Fragile attribute it soon gets self-destroyed, b) the Toy Gun, (1-10, +1/+3), but which is sold for 2,500 gold, while the Type B Pistol in the prison depth shop, which has very similar stats, is sold for 1,000 gold and is also available to the hero much earlier, and c) the Red Packet thrown weapons (they are 5 in number, but are expendable as all thrown weapons are), which deals damage equal to the hero's available gold, so it can practically insta-kill any enemy, as long as the hero has enough gold. For the reasons already mentioned just before only the Red Packet is worthy of the expense of 2,500 gold, just make sure that you save it for very strong enemies or bosses, because it gets spent with every use, and only 5 uses are available with each Red Packet. Oldnewstwist is already in Dolya Town (almost naked) in the hero's first visit.

Ren[]

REN NPC SPS-PD
REN
He is a developer in China. He loves East Project, so he is mixing that into his Shattered mod. He is hard working.

He represents the developer of Touhou Pixel Dungeon, (unfortuntely his mod is available only in Chinese, and in English there only this post available describing it). East Project is a translation of the Touhu Project game title, which a bullet hell shoot em' up video game, and from which Touhou Pixel Dungeon got the inspiration for its title. Along with Cooker M.O.S. and the Shopkeepers he is one of the most important NPCs of Dolya Town, as he is the one who provides the hero with the Challenge Book item, which is very important generally for every run's progress.

When the hero first meets Ren, he/she will most probably have in the inventory at least one challenge poster - page, and in this case Ren will say: "Nice to meet you, I'm Ren. You found my message on that challenge picture, right? Take this Challenge Book, it can help you." If the hero does not have any portal in the inventory, Ren will say any of the messages that follow, which he also starts saying after he gives the Challenge Book to the hero: "If I have time, I will tell you a story about the best place in my world.", "Well, I like teas, no matter what tea it was." or he will ask "What does Usami-Renko mean?" (answer: she is a recurring character in the Touhou Project game series). If the hero later in the game completes the "100 enemies killed" goal in all four of the challenge depths and obtains all four reward bags, whenhe/she will see him again, Ren will say: "You have found all secrets in each challenge?! Take this, a weapon from my Touhou Project Pixel Dungeon. Well, it is only in Chinese language." and will give to the hero as a bonus reward for completing all challenges the Reimus Goei weapon. Otheriwise Ren will keep talking about teas, best places and Usami Renko, subjects that he will also return to after handing the Reimus Goei. Note that the hero doesn't have to keep the reward bags unopened and meet Ren with all of them in the backpack, just them having been generated is considered enough by Ren. The Reimus Goei is a unique weapon with interesting features that can't be obtained otherwise, but at the time the hero will have completed the "100 enemies killed" goal in all four challenge depths, the Reimus Goei most probably will be too weak to be of use in fighting (for details about this weapon folow the link above). Ren is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit. Note that Ren appears with the same sprite but slightly different name and completely different behavior also in another mod by a Chinese developers, Darkest Pixel Dungeon.

Secretary Kostis12345[]

Secretary Kostis12345 NPC SPS-PD
Secretary kostis12345
She is the secretary in this town, and she works very hard.

She represents reddit user kostis12345, who has contributed much in the writing of these SPS-PD wiki pages. She either asks the hero: "Did you see our mayor? We still have lots of things to do." or advises him/her: "If you have questions about the game, go to http://www.pixeldungeon.wikia.com and search for Special Surprise Pixel Dungeon. Come on Teletubby, teleport us to Mars." The Teletubbies and Mars conclusion is certainly random, but also a catchphrase of the American drag queen Tammie Brown, which has inspired Kostis12345's sprite. She is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Shield Goblin[]

Shield Goblin NPC SPS-PD
Shield Goblin
A tester goblin, he holds a shield, an artifact from Unleashed Pixel Dungeon.

He also represents a playtester of SPS-PD. When the hero interacts with him, he says: "It's a good world, but it's still too simple for Goblins." or "See this shield? It is full with chaos energy." The second message is a reference to the Shield of Wonder artifact of Goblin Pixel Dungeon, which is mistakenly described as being an artifact of Unleashed PD. He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

He is one of the NPCs that add something to their behavior after the hero defeats Zot, as a game window might start appearing with a message "Want a shield? 3,000 gold.", and after the hero says "Yes", 3,000 gold pieces are taken from the inventroy and a Goblin Shield is generated in it. This window can also appear randomly many times, but 3,000 gold for a tier 3 weapon that deals 3-16 damage at level 0 and has a +2/+4 damage scaling is not exactly a bargain, so there is certainly no point in buying this weapon many times (and actually not even once, considering the fact that Zot is defeated and all fighting is basically over). Note also that this NPC never sells a Goblin Shield before Zot is defeated.

Goblin Shield
A shield from a goblin.

Top Shopkeeper[]

Shopkeeper
Shopkeeper
This stout guy looks more appropriate for a trade district in some large city than for a dungeon. His prices explain why he prefers to do business here.

Like the bottom Shopkeeper he also doesn't interact verbally with the hero, but only gives the option to the hero to sell items to him. Both of the Shopkeepers of Dolya Town start selling their merchandise only after the hero has obtained a level +12 or higher item, so if the hero doesn't use scrolls of Upgrade on one of their items and just upgrades them with dew, the shopkeepers will appear after he/she reaches the end of Demon Halls, and still a scroll or two might be needed to "unlock" them, as upgrading with dew sometimes adds +1/+2 extra levels to items, but does not do that very often, and the regular cap of upgrading with dew is level +10. About his merchandise see shops section just below. He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Treasure Hunter S.M.R.[]

Treasure Hunter S.M.R. NPC SPS-PD
Treasure hunter S.M.R.
A tester from another world. He is a demon eye.

He also represents an SPS-PD playtester. He appears only after the "All rings identified" badge is obtained, and is located in the left part of the Cooker M.O.S.' store. When the hero interacts with him, he says: "Hi, need some treasure?" or "I am not human. But I am a treasure hunter." He sells adamant items for 3,750 gold (wand), 5,000 gold (ring), 6,250 gold (weapon) and 7,500 gold (armor), but sometimes 10 pieces of dark gold for 250 gold (buying some is an alternative way to satisfy the Blacksmiths' demands more quickly in combination with the dark gold that spawns in the Dolya Town chests).

TypedScroll[]

Typedscroll NPC SPS-PD
TypedScroll
This is the developer who has built LCPD. He looks like an error. [Note: Typedscroll switches constantly between a normal sprite and a glitched sprite, but the second instance fits his game description more.]

He represents Typedscroll, the developer of Lovecraft Pixel Dungeon, which is mentioned in the game description, but also of other mods (Plugin, Statistics, Overgrown PDs) one of which he has published under the alias Anonymous PD. SPS-PD uses almost exactly the same sprite with the depiction of TypedScroll that is displayed in the "About" screen of Lovecraft PD, it just adds an evil grin to his sprite and a distortion effect, to match his game description with a graphic glitch (his mods are rather notorious for their bugs, so this visual decision by the developer is more a playful symbolism than anything else). When the hero interacts with him, he says: "I'm TypedScroll, I don't know what should I say now." and "Have more confidence on my LCPD." (on a side note, you shouldn't have too much, as this mod has been abandoned for more than two years now). He is located just next to the bottom Shopkeeper and is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

XiXi0.12[]

Egoal NPCs SPS-PD
XiXi0.12
This is the cat who has built Darkest Pixel Dungeon.

Although this cat is named XiXi0.12, the name displayed could also be Egoal, as it represents the developer of Darkest Pixel Dungeon and uses the same sprite with the depiction of Egoal in his mod (he is Egoal the Cat there). When the hero interacts with him, he asks: "Meow, adventurer. A peaceful town, isn't it? I can‘t see any pressure in your face, because your journey is very easy? So my question is: Egoal is a good person, right?". The hero has the option to answer either: "Right" or "Who is he?". With the first answer the cat says: "I'm glad for your answer, but I don't have a present for you this time. Good luck." (in Darkest PD, the cat also asks this question and with any answer he gives some necessary items to the hero), and with the second answer the cat says: "Meow, do you know Darkest Pixel Dungeon? I hope you can go there to continue your adventure, You will do that, right? Good luck." XiXi0.12 will not ask the question again, and in all the following interactions with the hero he will just say: "Meow, I'm the developer of Darkest Pixel Dungeon, you can call me Egoal." He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Top Right quarter NPCs[]

Top right quarter NPCs SPS-PD

Alive Fish[]

Albino Giant Piranha SPS-PD
Alive Fish
A fish man.

Although it has the sprite of Albino Giant Piranha, this is a friendly fish, which only says either: "Blub blub blub..." or "Bubble..." when the hero interacts with it. It is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Curse Ankh - Union hunter[]

Curse Ankh NPC SPS-PD
Curse Ankh
He is a demon hunter, as you see.

They represent a translator who helped translate Shattered PD in Chinese. When the hero interacts with them, they either say: "Do you need a drink or pet food? Just kidding!" or shout: "Burn! Purify! For Sargeras' great expedition!", most probably a reference to the World of Warcraft Sargeras character, who is there the leader of the Burning Legion. He now appears in Dolya Town after the "3 potions cooked" badge is obtained.

Dachhack[]

Dachhack NPC SPS-PD
Dachhack
This is the developer who has built Sprouted Pixel Dungeon. He is still working, right?

A sprout with a halo above it, it represents Dachhack, the developer of Sprouted Pixel Dungeon. When the hero interacts with him, he says: "I'm Dachhack. Sorry for those bugs in Sprouted Pixel Dungeon that cause it to crash.", "New Sprouted is in test phase, just wait for that." (as a side note, if you are interested, you can find a link for Sprouted PD's most recent test version in the main text of its wiki page) or "This halo...it refers to Deistic Pixel Dungeon, a mod based on Sprouted, I guess." The last message refers to Deistic Pixel Dungeon, an old but interesting mod of Sprouted PD. He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Fruit Cat[]

Fruit Cat NPC SPS-PD
Fruit Cat
He is a merchant.

This NPC is hidden in the top right corner of Dolya Town at the end of a pathway behind a single burnable overgrown shrub that is directly behind a statue, so seeds of Firebloom or zaps with a wand of Firebolt can't open a path, but only potions of Liquid Flame and Fire/Huge/Two bombs. He sells almost every special bomb type for 500 gold, mini, regular and two bombs for 250 gold, as well as Ankhs for 1,250 gold and scrolls of Regrowth for 2,500 gold. He won’t appear until the "250 enemies slain" badge is obtained, but the hero will most probably have obtained that by the time he/she gets access to the "Invitation to Town" page in the caves shop and subsequently to Dolya Town. When the hero interacts with him, he says: "After Coconut left, I bought this shop and started selling bombs. For now this shop belongs to the Union." or "Believe it or not, Coconut had a bunch of Ankhs just lying around here before he left. He didn't even take any with him, he just left them in a pile to collect dust! Anyways, you'll probably need them more than I do."

G2159687[]

G2159687 NPC SPS-PD
G2159687
This is the developer who has built ESPD.

This octagon represents G2159687, the developer of Easier Sprouted Pixel Dungeon (ESPD). When the hero interacts with him, he says: "I'm G2159687, do you love my ESPD?" or "I fixed some bugs in Sprouted and made it easier. I also built another version like EVPD, you know, easier." EVPD stands for Easier Vanilla Pixel Dungeon, another mod of this developer. Sometimes, when spoken to, he will not say the previous messages, but instead a game window will appear and he will ask: "Do you want to stay for one night in here? [He means the locked room just a few tiles to the right] It only costs 100 gold pieces." The hero will then answer "Yes, I want" and will purchase a key. After the hero defeates any of the third chapter's bosses this room will start containing four treasure chests (that usually have inside Dark Gold, but also Starflower seeds and common berries, so be sure to open them) and a bed, which has now become only decorative, altough it used to allow sleeping in previous versions. Note that the previous game-crashing bug that was being triggered by the hero sleeping in the hotel room bed has been fixed, in the more general sense that sleeping in that bed has been disabled. That key can also open the room that is located in the top left corner of Dolya Town and Locastan is standing outside of it, that also contains 3 chests but no bed, in which the chests also start spawning after the any of the third chapter's boss are defeated - if the hero wants to open these too, he/she can just buy two keys by talking repeatedly to G2159687. He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Honey Poooot[]

Honey Pooot NPC SPS-PD
Honey Poooot
A sophisticated adventurer, assistant to the trade union chairman, is responsible for helping with various trade union tasks, including the testing of various new items.

They represent another playtester of SPS-PD. When the hero interacts with them, they say: "See that black cat? He is my leader." (they refer to Rawberry, who is located in the same room with them), or "This is honey cap, not a robe." They are already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

They are one of the NPCs that add something to their behavior after the hero defeats Zot, as they start also dropping a Pooot Key, a portal item that can teleport the hero to depth 45, which is an empty version of the Sweet Home, without any items there, but with an alchemy pot, a flooded room etc. After the hero leaves this mock Sweet Home, a sword-like item with "No text found!" name and game description will spawn in the inventory (the sprite of this item is identical with that of the new weapon Tengu's Katana so it will be named here for the reader's ease "Tengu's Sword"). The hero can keep talking to Honey Poooot and then they will drop more Poooot Keys, with an extra sword getting generated after each new visit to the mock Sweet Home, but this will not have any purpose, and will create instead a minor problem, as the sword item can't be dropped from the inventory, so getting many of them will clutter the inventory permanently. Note also that this NPC never offers a Poooot Key before Zot is defeated.

For the Shadow Eater weapon that gets crafted by the Troll Blacksmith with the combination of [Chaos Pack given by Mercenary] + [Cursed Blood given by Said by Sun] + [Tengu's Sword given by Honey Poooot] read the relevant section of the Said by Sun NPC.

Poooot Key
A teleporting item from Poooot.
Weapons tier 2 Fushigi No
!!!No text found!!! [Tengu's Sword]
!!! No text found!!!

Other wiki contributors should note that in the game code the "!!! No text found!!! [Tengu's sword]" item is named EmptyBody.

[The image of the Poooot Key will be soon uploaded to the wiki.] Pooot keys are stored in the key ring, like all the other portal items.

Jinkeloid - Union president[]

Jinkeloid NPC SPS-PD
Jinkeloid - Union President
She is the Union President, some kind of ice element.

She represents a translator of Remixed Dungeon and Shattered PDs in Chinese, who is also the developer of Music Implant Shattered Pixel Dungeon (it has two versions with a different playlist each, Fside & Wside), which is available only in the Chinese language. When the hero interacts with her, she says: "Now the union is just a tourist spot. Welcome here.", and "In this place, freezing by ice will make you take more damage." Note that there is not any damage multiplier in effect while the hero is frozen in Dolya Town, but she might be referring to the recently added in Dolya Town Stone Beetle enemy, which applies the Stone Ice debuff upon its death. She is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Juh9870[]

Juh9870 NPC SPS-PD
Juh9870
Developer of Moonshine Pixel Dungeon.

He represents the Juh9870, one of the developers of Moonshine Pixel Dungeon. When the hero interacts with him he says: "Dreams are forbidden, said my grandpa, who also brewed good moonshine." and "So... Well, I hope I can find more things in here." The part of the message mentioning that dreams are forbidden is a reference to two withdrawn mods that Juh9870 was involved with, Dreamful PD and Forbidden PD. He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Otiluke[]

Otiluke Sprouted PD
Otiluke
Otiluke, a great wizard from Dolya Town. You can ask from him a reward.

As expected, he only appears after the hero defeats the final boss Zot and the "Otiluke rescued!" badge is obtained, like he does in Sprouted PD. When the hero first meets him in Dolya Town in end-game, Otiluke will say: "Finally, after so much time, I see my hometown again!" and "I will help you to enter the Tower, if you want.", but if the hero insists in bugging him, he will finally respond: "Ok, I know what you want, take this counterfeit Amulet. I had to give the real one to the Tower, but don't worry, this works the same way, and I have more if you need them". If the hero continues to talk to him, he will give another amulet, and another amulet etc. As he said, they are fake and he has many. Note that Otiluke's "counterfeit Amulet" is the game's actual Amulet of Yendor and in SPS-PD this the first time that the hero can "End the Game" by using it.

Pet Dealer Lery[]

Pet dealer Lery SPS-PD
Pet Dealer Lery
He is another element of this Union. He is good at training pets.

He represents another translator of Pixel Dungeon. He looks very much like the Newborn Fire Elemental enemy from one of Shattered PD’s Old Wandmaker quests and shares the same sprite with the Chaos Elemental pet of SPS-PD. He opens his shop only after the hero has already released 5 pets (unlike previous versions of SPS-PD just wasting Souls of Mobs without hatching and releasing pets doesn't affect the "pets released" counter) and he/she has obtained the "Summoned 5 pets!" badge. When the hero interacts with him, he either asks: "Are you cool?" or says "I sell eggs here." He sells either a specific pet card with a ready-to-get-released pet (for example a Soul of Web or a Soul of Green Dragon) or a Random Soul, all for 12,500 gold each, or a Soul of Mobs for 1,250 gold. His shop is one of the only two ways for the hero to acquire all year an Easter Bunny pet by buying a Soul of Rabbit (the other is to get it as a drop from the Ice Corps boss in the Bossrush challenge). In the code he is supposed to sell randomly also the rare Soul of Cat, which releases a Bomb Cat pet, but this does not seem to be happening in current SPS-PD. The player should have in mind: a) that when Lery sells a specific Soul of X Pet, sometimes the name of the soul is not identical with the name of the pet: Soul of Chaos releases the Chaos Elemental, Soul of Rabbit the Bunny of Easter Egg, Soul of Web the Web Spider etc. and b) that pets can't exist in any Dolya Slate depth and as a consequence in Dolya Town, so don't worry if the pet card bought by Lery doesn't offer immediately an option to summon a pet, it will work just fine as soon as the hero returns to the regular dungeon.

Rawberry - Chairman of the Union[]

Rawberry NPC SPS-PD
Rawberry - Chairman of the Union
She is the Chairman of the Union.

She represents a translator who helped translate Shattered PD and Remixed PD in Chinese and who is also the administrator of the biggest Pixel Dungeon-related Chinese Tencent QQ community. She looks like a cat but claims: "I am a magical princess from another dimension." and also says: "Friendship is magic!" and "The world's still the same, there's just...less in it." He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit. Note that Rawberry appears with the same sprite but slightly different names in two other mods by Chinese developers, Darkest Pixel Dungeon and Fushigi No Pixel Dungeon.

Shattered Flame Blast - Union Fire Mage[]

Shattered Flame Blast NPC SPS-PD
Shattered Flame Blast - Union Fire Mage
He is a fire mage.

He represents another translator of Pixel Dungeon. He either shouts "Me!" aggressively or says: "I want to burn something!", or "If a target is burning, it will move fast." (he is right, the Burning debuff increases speed by +25%). He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

The Mayor Noodlemire[]

Mayor Noodlemire NPC SPS-PD
The Mayor Noodlemire
He is the mayor in this town. He also wrote a book about the chancel.

He is the depiction of reddit user Noodlemire , who is the developer of Chancel Pixel Dungeon (and not an author of a book about chancels), and who has also contributed much in the initial writing of the SPS-PD wiki pages. He first welcomes the hero to Dolya Town and introduces himself as the Mayor. In early hero levels he will then say to the hero to come back again later to find more things, but from mid-game until end-game he repeats that Dolya Town used to be a great town, but because of the enviromental pollution a lot of people have left. He is one of the few NPCs that exist also in Sprouted PD's Dolyahaven, put only as a plain Villager. He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Uncle S.[]

Uncle S. NPC SPS-PD
Uncle S.
He is one strong man in Union.

He represents an early administrator of a Chinese Sprouted PD forum and appears after the "3 potions cooked" badge is obtained. He sells enhancing pills (Magic pill, Power pill, Smash pill etc.) for 1,250 gold each, one in every hero's visit, items than can be obtained otherwise only by using a +6 Alchemist's Toolkit, as all their recipes require 4 slots in the alchemy pot. Note that he never sells any other product of alchemy aside from pills. His only dialogue is to ask the hero if he/she wants any training.

Bottom Half NPCs[]

Bottom half NPCs SPS-PD

ARealMan[]

ARealMan NPC SPS-PD
ARealMan
He loves alchemy and collects indepedent games. He is still in the Union.

He represents an actual Chinese game collector, and appears like Uncle S. after the "3 potions cooked" badge is obtained. He is located in the secret room below the garden of high grass at the bottom right corner of Dolya Town. When the hero interacts with him he says nothing, but an interface which is identical to that of the alchemy pots appears, with the title "Wonderful experiments from ARealMan" and the following instructions: "Put three rings in here to create a random artifact. It will cost 1,000 gold pieces." The hero can put three rings into the slots and after paying 1,000 gold he/she will get a random artifact. Keep in mind that the level of the rings doesn't affect at all the quality of the artifact and it will always be of level 0, so it is better to use only unupgraded rings for this purpose.

Geological Surveyor Xavier251998[]

Xavier251998 NPC SPS-PD
Geological Surveyor Xavier251998
A geological surveyor named Xavier251998.

He represents Xavier251998, who is the pixel artist and secondary developer of Lovecraft Pixel Dungeon (SPS-PD uses exactly the same sprite with the depiction of Xavier251998 in the "About" screen of his mod). He looks like a pixel art version of Jason Voorhees from the "Friday the 13th" film series and drops a piece of chargrilled meat when the hero first talks to him, saying: "Take this meat, my friend" (he drops it only once). In the next interactions with the hero he will either say: "It's said that the town had had a glorious time, with a lot of magic ore exports, which brought considerable income to the town. But all this was over before Otiluke was ready to go." or "I was doing a project about the relationship between crystal movement and man-made mining. Unfortunately, there was a dragon in the mine site, and then I couldn't get into the mine cave." The second message is a warning about the Violet Dragon hidden in the bottom left corner of Dolya Town. After a recent update he has also started having a "pet", as the Stone Beetle enemy always spawns next to him on every hero's visit. He is one of the few NPCs that exist also in Sprouted PD's Dolyahaven, but as a plain Villager. He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Mercenary - Thirteen the Frozen Mist[]

Mercenary NPC SPS-PD
Mercenary - Thirteen the Frozen Mist
A warlock who seems a little mad. He came here because of a broken map of Dolya Town and of the lead of Honey Poooot. In his words, he stays here to create more chaos.

He is another playtester of SPS-PD. When the hero interacts with him, he randomly says: "Greetings, my name is Thirteen. I'm just a normal mercenary. By the way, It's not the first time we meet, right?" / "It's not the elements, but their controllers make them evil." / "My colours are strange? Bro, they are just RGB." / "Remember, the past is never dead, it's not even past." / "Se Neh Gep Dyus! Uo Sh Yuh! Nat Sh Yuh!" / "There are still some glitches in this world. At least they won't create a black beast." He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

He is one of the NPCs that add something to their behavior after the hero defeats Zot, as a window starts also appearing with the message "The world needs more chaos...", which shows a Power Hand. This can be confusing, because all the other NPCs that change their behavior after Zot is defeated show in their game windows the item that they offer, but the Mercenary is an exception in this, and his game window shows the item he asks for. The hero can only satisfy his demand if he/she has already completed the Bossrush challenge and had the Power Hand item dropped by the Original Yog boss in their inventory. This item also gives access to SPS-PD's Endless Mode and allows the player to end the game from very earlier, so the player will have to choose for which purpose of those three the Power Hand will be used, but at this point ending the game is also available with the Amulet, so the meaningful choices are actually two: Endless Mode or exchanging it with the Mercenary's item. After the hero gives the Power Hand to the Mercenary, an item with the sprite of the Demon Contract but with a "No text found!" name and game description will spawn in the inventory (it is named "Chaos Pack" in the game code, so again for the reader's ease this name is also used here). If the hero does not have the Power Hand in the inventory, the Mercenary will say "You don't have enough money, come back another time.", but no money will be needed in any case, just the Power Hand. For more details about the Power Hand item in general you can visit the Bossrush challenge page. Note also that this NPC never offers a Chaos Pack before Zot is defeated.

[The image of the Chaos Pack will be soon uploaded to the wiki.]

Millilitre Isaac[]

Millilitre Isaac NPC SPS-PD
Millilitre Isaac
He is a tester, he is frightened.

He represents another SPS-PD playtester, while his sprite in combination with his name are direct references to the Binding of Isaac game. He is located in the secret room below the garden of high grass at the bottom right corner of Dolya Town. When spoken to he either says: "Leave me alone..." or "I want to go home..." He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

He is one of the NPCs that add something to their behavior after the hero defeats Zot, as a game widow starts also appearing with the title "Power Pill" and the subtitle "You see a blood donating machine in his hand." Apparently after Zot got defeated Millilitre Isaac has started operating a blood bank, and after the hero "Sells blood" he/she will take damage equal to 100 HP but will also receive from 500 to 3,000 gold pieces that will be added in the inventory. This monetary exchange can be repeated many times, as long as the hero has enough blood/HP to spend. Note also that this NPC never offers to buy the hero's blood before Zot is defeated.

Rune Scholar Lynn[]

Rune Scholar Lynn SPS-PD
Rune Scholar Lynn
An excellent Rune scholar.

She represents the creator of Shattered PD's webpage in Chinese. She appears in Dolya Town after the hero gives her a Dew Mushroom in the Mining Caves in the regular dungeon. In Dolya Town she says: "I have fixed that altar. You can use it now." and also asks: "What should I do next?" Her first message refers to the pedestal inside the Dolya Town temple, which can be used in transforming two Magic Stones to a tier 6 Relic weapon.

Rustyblade - Battle master[]

Rustyblade NPC SPS-PD
Rustyblade
He is the Battle master in this Union, and he has his own legendary story.

He represents also a translator who helped translate Shattered PD and Remixed Dungeon in Chinese and he appears after the hero has obtained the "Level 40 reached" badge, along with the Test Mob just below him and Trainer Rain to the left. When the hero interacts with him, he either says: "I am a master." or "Def. up, def. down, atk. up, atk. down, these things are basic buffs."

Said by Sun[]

Said by Sun NPC SPS-PD
Said by Sun
A cat, also a alchemy tester.

This cat represents another playtestester of SPS-PD. It is located in the secret room below the garden of high grass at the bottom right corner of Dolya Town but only appears after the "Otiluke rescued!" badge is obtained. When spoken to, it either says: "Next step... wait, I did a mistake..." or "They asked me to help with the test, and I came here.... Oh, I didn't say anything..."

It is one of the NPCs that add something to their behavior after the hero defeats Zot, as a game window starts also appearing with a "No text found!" title and the subtitle "A chaos item, you only need 100,000 gold for it.", which sells Cursed Blood (it has a blood drop sprite but a "No text found" name and game description) for the aforementioned price. If the hero doesn't have this amount of gold the Said by Sun will say "You don't have enough money, come back another time." but unlike the Mercenary before it actually means what it says and this amount of gold is needed. If the hero has skipped selling most of the dropped weapons by Animated Steels in the Energy Core, this is the time for him/her to do it, as selling appr. 2/3 of them will reach the 100,000 goal, otherwise the hero might consider selling a lot of their blood to Millilitre Isaac nearby. Note also that this NPC never offers Cursed Blood before Zot is defeated.

!!!No text found!!! [Cursed Blood]
!!!No text found!!!

[The image of Cursed blood will be soon uploaded to the wiki.]

After the hero has obtained a) the Chaos Pack given by the Mercenary NPC in exchange for the Power Hand, b) the Tengu's Sword found after visiting the mock Safe Home by teleporting there with the Poooot Key and c) the Cursed Blood by buying it from Said by Sun, he/she can take these three items to the Troll Blacksmith (not Welder) in the caves and have him forge them to a single Shadow Eater weapon. This is a tier 4 weapon with a strength requirement of 15, dam. 4-22, Accuracy - Delay - Range of 1, and dam. scaling +1/+4, which also has the Asleep-Cost and Whisper attributes and it is cursed by default. Currently this weapon is just an Easter Egg of SPS-PD as it serves no specific purpose, but it will be a part of a storyline that will further involve the playtester NPCs in a forthcoming version. That said its stats are not impressive anyway, and for the hero to get access to the crafting materials for this weapon, he/she should have already defeated Zot, so any important fight will be completely over. All in all, players who will bother with gathering the three materials needed for the crafting of this weapon should have in mind that they are doing it only for the novelty factor.

Shadow Eater
A cursed weapon built by all testers. Uncursing will remove its power.

[The image of the Shadow Eater will be soon uploaded to the wiki.]

Shattered Pixel Dungeon[]

Shattered PD NPC SPS-PD
Shattered Pixel Dungeon
This is a sign of Shattered Pixel Dungeon, the most succesful mod of Pixel Dungeon.

This is the sprite that Evan Debenham, developer of Shattered PD, uses for him in the "About" screen of his mod. When the hero interacts with it, it says: "I'm made by 00-Evan. Welcome here!", "Evan is trying to fix something that's broken (me, perhaps). He is so obsessive that he doesn't know what he should say.", or "I will try my best to make Shattered more funny, more reasonable, and more challenging." It is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Tempest102[]

Tempest102 NPC SPS-PD
Tempest102
He is a translator and a musician.

Although this NPC was existing also in older versions of SPS-PD, he has been relocated and has opened a shop, so he is much more important for the hero (his game description has also been changed). He represents another translator of Pixel Dungeon and he also appears after the hero has obtained the "Level 40 reached" badge. When the hero interacts with him he says: "I only had a tent in the past, but now I have my own shop." and "Welcome to my instrument studio. Do you want to buy anything?". In each hero's visit his shop sells 3 items, which either are weapons with the resonance attribute (they all look like musical instruments, so they justify his shop's description as a musical studio), all for 2,500 gold each regardless of tier, or scroll-like items that can boost the hero's Accuracy, Dexterity, or Magic Power by one point each, and are titled "Learn how to Attack", "Learn how to Dodge", and "Learn how to Use Magic". He sells the scroll-like items for 1,250 (Attack), 2,500 gold (Dodge) and 5,000 gold (Magic) each. Note that Tempest102 sells these items randomly and in one hero's visit he might be selling only resonance weapons and in another only "Learn how to..." items. The scroll-like items used to get sold by Trainer Rain in previous versions of SPS-PD, but that does not happen anymore.

Trainer Rain[]

Trainer Rain NPC SPS-PD
Trainer Rain
A trainer who is ready for battle.

This NPC has also been changed and has passed the shop he was keeping in previous versions of SPS-PD to Tempest102, so he has become less important for the hero. He represents another translator of Shattered PD in Chinese and also appears after the hero has obtained the "Level 40 reached" badge, along with the passive Test Mob below him, and Rustyblade to the left of him. When spoken to, he advises the hero: "Check your DPS on that scarecrow." or asks: "Want to train yourself?" Trainer Rain does not specify which one of the scarecrows below him is "that scarecrow", but in any case heroes who just want to check their DPS should attack the passive Test Mob directly below Trainer Rain and not the aggressive Clockwork Scarecrow to his right. The only reason to attack the aggressive Clockwork Scarecrow to the right is when Trainer and the passive Test Mob still haven't spawned, but the player wants to obtain the Portable Scarecrow container from early on (this is not recommended in very early hero levels though).

Udawos[]

Udawos NPC SPS-PD
Udawos
This is the developer who has built Pioneer. He seems like that he is doing his job now.

He represents Udawos, the developer of the game Pioneer, a sci-fi spinoff of Pixel Dungeon, which uses many of its assets but it is not a rogualike, and also of Chernog:Fortress of the Mad Admiral RPG. When the hero interacts with him, he says: "I'm Udawos, have you ever played my Pioneer before? My new game is Chernog: FOMTMA. You can download it in google play store.", and also "In fact, Pioneer is not a Roguelike game. Rather, it is an RPG." (which is an accurate description). He is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

UNIST HeXA[]

Unist Hexa NPC SPS-PD
UNIST HeXA
This is the developer of UNIST Pixel Dungeon... I have never heard about this mod...

This floating crystal represents HeXa, who is the developer of UNIST Pixel Dungeon. When the hero interacts with it, it says: "I'm HeXA,the developer of UNIST Pixel Dungeon. I think you have never heard about that mod before." and "It can only be downloaded in South Korea, but you can find the code in github." Note that this information is inaccurate, and UNIST Pixel Dungeon is available in the Google Play Store for all countries. It is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Watabou[]

Watabou NPC SPS-PD
Watabou
this is the developer who has built the original Pixel Dungeon from the ground up... Amazing...

This friendly alien invader represents Watabou, the developer of Original Pixel Dungeon, and is the same sprite that Watabou uses for himself in the "About" screen of his game. He appears only after any of the fourth chapter's bosses get defeated by the hero and for some unknown reason he spawns inside a wall. When the hero interacts with him, he says: "I'm Watabou, still here in spirit even if I haven't updated Pixel Dungeon in about three years." (the years are actually four), and "Pixel Dungeon isn't my only game. You should try the other ones I have made, like Patient Rogue."

White Ghost[]

White Ghost NPC SPS-PD
White Ghost
She was one of the mages in the Union, but she disappeared in one of the Tower's tests.

She represents an actual Chinese player and appears also after any of the fourth chapter's bosses get defeated by the hero. She is located in the secret room below the garden of high grass at the bottom right corner of Dolya Town. When spoken to, her only remark is: "Still... you remember me..."

Wandering NPCs[]

931451545[]

931451545 NPC SPS-PD
931451545
This is one of the translators who helped translate Shattered into chinese... [Note that the number and letters in their sprite move rapidly, but this could not be depicted with a still image.]

They represent a translator who helped translate Shattered PD in Chinese. When the hero interacts with them, they either say: "I'm 931451545." or "I was king of that Union." They wander already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Ømicrónrg9[]

Omicronrg9 NPC SPS-PD
Ømicrónrg9
This long-haired human seems to be a crusader of the old times, but he is actually a Scholar who restlessly researches for different worlds in this big universe. He's here because Honey brought him, and he is collecting data about this world and sharing information about other worlds. He has not slept well so he may be aggresive.

He represents a reddit user who has spent a considerable amount of time in the documentation of all Pixel Dungeon mods and this wiki's mods catalogue owes a good part of its completeness to his "Mods Charts" project. When the hero interacts with him, he randomly says: "Be cautious with the piranhas. They are dangerous when unarmored." / "Hey! Out of my way, I have no time for this nonsense. My mod tree won't be made by itself!" / "Hope is still an illusion!" / "My left eye got burnt because of excessive time spent at the computer, searching for new mods. It was a needed sacrifice." / "There are 24 Pixel Dungeon mods which start with P. This is not a joke!" / "This world takes stuff from around 9 different worlds! Isn't that amazing?" He wanders already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Dream Player[]

Dream Player NPC SPS-PD
Dream Player
A tester, an element, and colourful. [Note that their sprite changes colors rapidly like a kaleidoscope and their eyes move around, but this could not be depicted with a still image.]

They also represent a playtester of SPS-PD. They are the most laconic NPC of Dolya Town as they either say "Funny!" or ask "Funny?" They are also the only wandering NPC that does not appear in Dolya Town from the hero's first visit, but along with Pet Dealer Lery only after the hero has released 5 pets and obtained the relevant badge.

They are one of the NPCs that add something to their behavior after the hero defeats Zot, but the effect of this new behavior is the most drastic among all NPCs: a game window starts also appearing with the "Chocolate pudding cup" title and the subtitle "WanT fUnNy?", and after the hero responds "Funny", their level will return to 1 (and all the secondary stats that were increased because of level ups will also return to their base value), and their max HP will get down to just 50, with the excess HP just overfilling temporariry the HP bar. Players who find this amusing should leave talking to Dream Player for just before ending the game with the Amulet, as their hero will just be a little stronger in HP than when he/she originally spawned in the dungeon, and won't have many chances to survive in the regular dungeon after sewers. Note also that this NPC never offers to do something funny before Zot is defeated.

Maintainer S.O.F.S.[]

Maintainer SOFS NPC SPS-PD
Maintainer S.O.F.S.
He is a priest and also he is the only repairman in this town.

He represents an early SPS-PD playtester. When he is spoken to, he either says: "Guest, may I delay you for a moment to talk about our heavenly father, Kesulu?", "Many things that the dreamer and the day know are often forgotten by the dreamer at night.", or "Well, there lots of things I need fix. I am tired with this..: Kesulu is most probably a reference to the chinese pronounciation of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulu. He wanders already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

SadSaltan[]

Sadsaltan NPC SPS-PD
SadSaltan
The draftsman of Moonshine Pixel Dungeon. The name "Moonshine" is hung on his clothes.

He represents Sadsaltan, one of the developers of Moonshine Pixel Dungeon. When the hero interacts with him, he either says: "Oh. New wanderer in this dungeon? People do not often show up here. Here all become either rich or dead. When a man has got money in his pocket, he begins to appreciate peace.", "By the way, if you'll pass by the city - visit my saloon! It's easy to find saloon, just say 'Moonshine Dungeon' and the locals will show you the way.", or "Take my business card, maybe I can offer you a drink in my bar." (the card is in text only and does not spawn in the hero's inventory). His sprite is faithful adaptation of the male Gunslinger class of Moonshine PD. He wanders already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

Shower[]

Shower NPC SPS-PD
Shower
A tester with a knuckle.

She also represents a SPS-PD playtester. When spoken to she either says: "Nice to meet you, I am Shower. You also can call me Mumu.", "See the pond on the East side?", or "Here is a beautiful town, with lots of people. I think I'll spend some time in here." She wanders already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit.

She is the last NPC of this list that adds something to her behavior after the hero defeats Zot, as she starts also offering to the hero the Special Knuckles weapon for free. This is a tier 1 wepon with the sprite of the knuckleduster just a little darkened and improved stats in comparison to the plain knuckleduster (dam. 1-10, Accuracy 2, Delay 0.5, Range 2, dam. scaling +2/+3, Blunt and Block attributes) but still not impressive, and in any case most of the fighting will have ended for the hero after Shower starts offering this weapon. Note also that this NPC never offers the Special Knuckles before Zot is defeated.

Knuckleduster
Special Knuckles
A powerful knuckleduster blessed by the Knuckles sect. [Its actual sprite in-game is a bit darker.]

Dolya Town Shops[]

All shops are restocked in every hero’s new visit. Sleeping in the hotel room isn't possible anymore, so there is no way for the shops to get restocked during the current hero's visit in Dolya Town, like they used to do in previous versions of SPS-PD.

ARealMan[]

ARealMan NPC SPS-PD

This is specifically an exchange store. The RealMan appears after the hero has brewed 3 potions and obtained the relevant badge, and when the hero interacts with him an interface which is identical to that of the alchemy pots appears, with the title "Wonderful experiments from A Real Man". The hero can put three rings into the interface's slots and after paying 1,000 gold he/she will get a random artifact. Keep in mind that the level of the rings doesn't affect at all the quality of the artifact and it is always at level 0, so it is better to use only unupgraded rings for this purpose.

Bottom shopkeeper / Shop with Typedscroll[]

Typedscroll NPC SPS-PD

The shop is located at the center of the left corner of Dolya Town and opens after a +12 item has been obtained by the hero and so also the relevant badge. It sells scrolls of Upgrade and Magical Infusion for 2,500 gold, Magic Stones for 1,250 gold, all weapons and armors regardless of tier or rarity for 2,500 gold when unenchanted and for 3,750 gold when enchanted, and all wands and rings for 1,875 gold (it never sells guns though). It also sells randomly thrown weapons in various prices, depending on their amount and type. Like they do in the regular dungeon, unidentified scrolls cost less than the identified ones, but in this shop both scrolls are rare, so around mid-game, after the shop starts to sell items and if the hero had not used/identified either the scroll of Upgrade or Magical Infusion yet, he/she can buy these scrolls here for only 500 gold. It is the only place in the dungeon that the hero can find a Runic Blade, and also the only place he/she will find more Magic Stones than the 6 that Golems drop as loot. Note that if the hero doesn't use scrolls of Upgrade on one of their items and just upgrades them with dew, the shop will open only after he/she reaches the end of Demon Halls, and still a scroll or two might be needed to "unlock" it, as upgrading with dew sometimes adds +1/+2 extra levels to items, but does not do that very often, and the regular cap of upgrading with dew is level +10.

Cooker M.O.S.’ shop[]

Cooker M.O.S. NPC SPS-PD

It is located at the top right of Dolya Town and opens after the hero has eaten 40 food items and obtained the relevant badge. It sells various food items, both found/dropped in the dungeon or produced only through cooking in alchemy pots. Nevertheless it does not sell raw materials like plain monster meat, mystery meat or their grilled/frozen version and it doesn't also sell plain Honey or mushrooms (it sells food items cooked with honey though). The recipes for some of the most powerful cooked items (Hamburger, Perfect food etc.) require a +6 or +10 Alchemist’s Toolkit, so the hero might find here very valuable food items here that he/she can’t obtain otherwise, if he/she hadn't found or upgraded an Alchemist's Toolkit yet. Its prices are totally random: rather valuable food items like Foamed Beverage or Ice Cream are sold from 50 to 100 gold and other rather useless and easily produced like Gel for 1,250 - also most food items that contain Honey are sold for 12,500 gold, but not always. Pet Food is not sold here, but randomly in the top shop, along with other raw materials useful in cooking like nut vines, nuts, berries and mushrooms that the Cooker M.O.S. shop never sells.

Fruit Cat shop[]

Fruit Cat NPC SPS-PD

It sells randomly every special bomb type for 500 gold, mini, regular and two bombs for 250 gold, as well as Ankhs for 1,250 gold and scrolls of Regrowth for 2,500 gold. Like they do in the regular dungeon, unidentified scrolls cost less than the identified ones, so after the Fruit Cat appears the hero can buy scrolls of Regrowth here for only 500 gold, as it is the only scroll the Fruit Cat sells. The Fruit Cat appears after 250 enemies have been killed and the relevant badge is obtained, but at the time that the hero will be reaching the caves shop and buying the "Invitation to Town" page, this amount of enemies will most probably have already been killed, and in consquence the Fruit Cat will be spawning in Dolya Town already from the first hero's visit. Note also that the Fruit Cat's shop is hidden behind some tree walls at the top east corner of Dolya Town, and the access to it is given only after the hero burns an overgrown shrub behind the decorative statue in the small pond there.

Oldnewstwist’s shop[]

Oldnewstwist NPC clothed SPS-PD

It is located in a secret room in the back of Cooker M.O.S.' store and opens after Oldnewstwist’s quest is completed (Oldnewstwist is in Dolya Town already from the first hero's visit, but doesn't open his shop before his quest gets completed). It will sell a single holiday weapon for 2,500 gold each time the hero visits Dolya Town. It is the only place in the dungeon for the hero to find off-season holiday weapons, but almost none of them will be actually useful to the hero, at the point that he/she will be able to fullfill Oldnewstwist's quest. The only exception to this is the Red Packet holiday thrown weapon, which deals damage equal to the gold in the hero's inventory, so it can even insta-kill big bosses if enough gold is available.

Pet Dealer Lery’s shop[]

Pet dealer Lery SPS-PD

It is located just next to the Alive Fish, in the pool at the top left of Dolya Town, and opens after 5 pets have been released from Souls of Mobs or Random Souls and the relevant badge is obtained(unlike previous versions of SPS-PD just using a Soul of Mobs by wasting it doesn't affect the pet counter). It sells pet cards with specific ready-to-get-released pets (for example a Soul of Violet Dargeon that can only summon a Violet Dragon), a Random Soul like the one that all class hero skins have as a staring item in their inventory, or a common Soul of Mobs. These are always sold one-at-a-time and all at the cost of 12,500 gold each, even the Random Soul, with the only exception of the Soul of Mobs that costs 1,250 gold. His shop is one of the only two ways for the hero to acquire an Easter Bunny pet all year, by buying a Soul of Rabbit (the other way is by having it dropped as loot by the Ice Corps boss in the Bossrush challenge). The player should have in mind: a) that when the shop sells a specific Soul of X Pet, sometimes the name of the soul is not identical with the name of the pet, for example the Soul of Chaos releases the Chaos Elemental, the Soul of Rabbit the Bunny of Easter Egg, the Soul of Web the Web Spider etc. and b) that pets can't exist in any Dolya Slate depth and as a consequence in Dolya Town, so don't worry if the pet card just bought doesn't offer immediately an option to summon a pet, it will work just fine as soon as the hero returns to the regular dungeon.

Tempest102[]

Tempest102 NPC SPS-PD

It is located at the bottom right of Dolya town. It appears after the hero reaches level 40 and the relevant badge is obtained. It sells 3 items each time, which either are weapons with the resonance attribute, all for 2,500 gold each regardless of tier, or scroll-like items that can boost the hero's Accuracy, Dexterity, or Magic Power by one point each, and are titled "Learn How to Attack", "Learn How to Dodge", and "Learn How to Use Magic". It sells the scroll-like items for 1,250 (Attack), 2,500 gold (Dodge) and 5,000 gold (Magic) each. Note that the shop sells these items randomly and in one hero's visit it might be selling only resonance weapons and in another only "Learn how to..." items

Top shopkeeper / Shop with Nyrdie[]

Nyrdie NPC SPS-PD

The shop is at the top left corner of Dolya Town and opens after a +12 item is obtained and so also the relevant badge. It sells various items at various prices: regular Potion and regular Scroll prices range from 500 to 1,000 gold (this shop doesn't sell rare scrolls), berries or mushrooms cost from 125 to 250 gold, seeds 250 gold, but Pet Food and nut vine-related food items only 25 gold. This is the only shop in the dungeon that the very useful in recipes but infrequent ingredients Nut and Nut Vine are sometimes sold, only for 25 gold, along with mushrooms and berries. A Mr. Destructo, Fairy Card, Control Mobile and a Lantern of Soul Collect cost the most among its merchandise, 2,500 gold each.

Treasure Hunter S.M.R.[]

Treasure Hunter S.M.R. NPC SPS-PD

It appears after the hero has identified all ring types and obtained the relevant badge, and is located in the left part of the Cooker M.O.S.' store. It sells most often one adamant item each time, for 3,750 gold (wand), 5,000 gold (ring), 6,250 gold (weapon) and 7,500 gold (armor), but sometimes 10 pieces of dark gold for 250 gold.

Uncle S.[]

Uncle S. NPC SPS-PD

It appears after the hero brews 3 potions and ontains the revant badge. It sells enhancing pills (Magic Pill, Power Pil, Smash Pill etc.) for 1,250 gold each.

Note that the only shops that buy items from the hero are those of the Bottom with Typedscroll and Top with Nyrdie shopkeepers. All the other shops only sell items.

NPCs/Enemies appearing <-> Badges obtained/Quests completed[]

The order with which these characters are mentioned in the bullets below follows the order of their associated badges in the Badges page of SPS-PD.

Badges - NPCs[]

  • Fruit Cat appears and opens his store only after the "250 enemies slain" badge is obtained.
  • Rustyblade - Battle Master, Trainer Rain and Tempest102 appear and Tempest102 also opens his store only after the "Level 40 reached" badge is obtained.
  • Treasure Hunter S.M.R. appears and opens his store only after the "Al rings identified" badge is obtained.
  • Watabou and the White Ghost appear only after the "4th boss slain" badge is obtained.
  • Cooker M.O.S. appears and opens his store only after the "40 pieces of food eaten" badge is obtained.
  • ARealMan, Curse Ankh - Union hunter and Uncle S. appear and start experimenting/selling pills only after the "3 potions cooked" badge is obtained.
  • The Shopkeepers open their store only after the "Item of level 12 acquired" badge is obtained.
  • Said by Sun and Otiluke appear only after the "Otiluke rescued!" badge is obtained.
  • Dream Player and Pet Dealer Lery appear and Lery also opens his store only after the "Summoned 5 pets!" badge is obtained.

Badges - Enemies[]

  1. The Test Mob appears only after Trainer Rain has already spawned, so also after the "Level 40 reached" badge is obtained.
  2. The two Giant Piranhas in the Dolya Town pond only appear after the "3rd boss slain" is obtained.
  3. The Tombstone appears only after the "4th boss slain" badge is obtained.

Quests - NPCs[]

  • Oldnewstwist opens his store only after the hero completes his quest by giving him the Gnoll Clothes dropped by the Gnoll King.
  • Rune Scholar Lynn appears only after the hero gives her the Toadstool Mushroom on depth 12 of the regular dungeon.

NPCs having additional behavior after Otiluke is rescued[]

  • Dream Player -> asks the hero if he/she wants something funny, and then their level returns to 1 (and all the secondary stats that were increased because of level ups also return to their base value), while their max HP gets down to just 50.
  • Hate Sokoban -> gives a wand of Flock to the hero for free.
  • Honey Poooot -> gives a Poooot Key teleporting item to the hero for free, which leads to a mock Safe Home, and after the hero leaves it a "No text found! - [Tengu's sword]" appears in the hero's inventory.
  • Mercenary - Thirteen the Frozen Mist -> gives a "No text found! - [Chaos Pack]" to the hero, but only if the Power Hand is in the hero's inventory, which the Mercenary takes in exchange.
  • Millilitre Isaac: buys the hero's blood (100 HP) in exchange for 500 to 3,000 gold pieces.
  • Said by Sun: sells "No text found! - [Cursed Blood]" to the hero for 100,000 gold.
  • Shield Goblin -> sells a Goblin Shield weapon to the hero for 3,000 gold.
  • Shower -> gives a Special Knuckles weapon to the hero for free.

After the hero obtains the "No text found!" - [Chaos Pack], [Cursed Blood] and [Tengu's Sword items], he/she can take them to the Troll Blacksmith in the caves and have him craft a Shadow Eater weapon, which is currently just an Easter Egg in SPS-PD, but will have a specific purpose in an extended playtesters' storyline of a forthcoming version.

The additional behaviors of all these NPCs occur randomly, but can happen many times when interactions get repeated with them.

Enemies[]

Note: None of these enemies exist in Sprouted PD's Dolyahaven.

Clockwork Scarecrow[]

Scarecrow SPS-PD
Clockwork Scarecrow
This scarecrow is dangerous. Don't touch it.

It is already in Dolya Town in the hero's first visit, so much before the appearance of Trainer Rain and the Test Mob. This scarecrow is normally passive but will attack the moment it gets engaged. It isn't capable of dealing much damage, so if its tens of thousands of HP turn out to be too much to handle, it will only become an inconvenience to the specific visit in Dolya Town, as it also causes Stone Ice debuff, which deals damage only when the hero moves. Nevertheless, attacking it in early hero levels is not advised, and if this happens by accident, it would be better to just teleport away from Dolya Town, as the scarecrow will respawn and be at peace again in the hero's next visit. On the first time it is killed, it drops the Portable Scarecrow, a container that holds up to 22 different weapons, melee or missile, and also armors, if the Test Mob has not dropped it already. It is particularly vulnerable to electricity damage and Wands of Lightning. Nevertheless, the totally passive Test Mob is a far easier target and will only need patience until its thousands of HP run out, so players should just wait for their hero to reach level 40, unless they feel very anxiouus to get this container earlier. In any case fighting the Clockwork Scarecrow in early hero levels is not recommended (all that having been said, read about two hero types that don't need to be that careful with the Clockwork Scarecrow in the last bullet below).

  • Mechanical
  • It is located at the bottom left ovorner of Dolya Town. It remains passive until attacked.
  • HP: 100,000 (not a typo)
  • Damage: 5. It deals most of its damage with its debuff.
  • Accuracy: 100
  • Armor, Evasion: 0
  • It applies almost constantly the Stone Ice buff/debuff, increases damage from the hero by 40%, decreases their speed by 20%, but most importantly deals damage equal to 1/20 of the hero's max HP in every hero's move. Note that if the hero doesn't move at all while the buff/debuff is active, he/she will receive no damage.
  • It has no resistances but takes increased damage from Electricity (Shock enchantment, Storm bomb etc.) and the wand of Lightining.
  • Drops always a Portable Scarecrow bag, if it has not aleady been dropped from the Test Mob. If it has been dropped, the Clockwork Scarecrow drops nothing.
  • As the Test Mob doesn't fight back and also drops the Portable Scarecrow, the Clockwork Scarecrow should be better left at its peace, unless the player wants early access to the Portable Scarcrow and doesn't want to wait for the hero to reach level 40 for the Test Mob to spawn. In any case fighting the Clockwork Scarecrow in early hero levels is not advised. That said, see also the exceptions mentioned in the directly next bullet.
  • Two hero types will be facing far less difficulties in fighting the Clockwork Scarecrow, so the previous warnings don't apply specifically to them: A) Enemies with a very big amount of max HP (chapter bosses, Yog-Dzewa, Shadow Yogs etc.) display the pleasant irregularity to fully heal and satisfy the Warlock's hunger with only one hit after they get soul marked, even when the hero has 1 HP and is starving. This also applies to the Clockwork Scarecrow, so a Warlock who has at least one wand with many charges and as result is able to consistently soul mark enemies won't have any trouble in fighting the Clockwork Scarecrow from rather early on, as he will be getting fully healed with every sucessful hit against it, as long as he keeps it soul marked. B) Specifically the Slime skin of the performer can dominate - corrupt both scarecrows by using his unique Slime item, as neither of them are minibosses despite their huge amount of HP. Unlike regular dominated enemies that lose 1 HP per turn though, the dominated scarecrows lose 1,500 HP per turn, so the Slime performer doesn't need to bother with fighting them to get the portable scarecrow container, he can just throw the Slime item to any of the two scarecrows and rest for 67 turns, while the scarecrow will be getting self-destroyed.

Dungeon Guard[]

Dungeon Guard SPS-PD
Dungeon Guard
Guard Dungeon is summoned by someone, but in people's eyes it is the same as in normal dungeon.

Another enemy with tons of HP, a blue dragon that comes with a hefty ranged attack that deals poison damage, but fortunately cannot use it in melee range. It's the only serious safety threat in Dolya Town, but it can only attack if its rest is disturbed in the former Dolyahaven Mines Entrance, hidden behind some burnable overgrown bushes in the bottom left corner of the village. On death, it drops the BossRush book, a teleporting item that can take the hero to the BossRush Challenge depth. A guide about beating the Guardian Dragon in early levels can be found here.

Bossrush portal SPS-PD
Boss Rush
This is an uncompleted bossrush. You can try to fight with those new bosses.

  • Dragon Boss
  • It is sort of located in the border between BossRush and Dolya Town, as it drops in Dolya Town the book that teleports to the BossRush depth.
  • HP: 8,000
  • Damage: 60-80
  • Accuracy: 50
  • Armor: 20-50
  • Evasion: 40
  • Speed: 1.5
  • Its ranged attack also Poisons, which deals heavy damage due to the increased depth. In melee range it does not poison so its attacks are much weaker.
  • Resistant to Poison, Toxic Gas, and the Dark enchantment.
  • XP: 10
  • Drops always the BossRush challenge book, the portal to BossRush Challenge.

Giant Piranhas[]

Piranha gif
Giant Piranha
These carnivorous fish are not natural inhabitants of underground pools. They were bred specifically to protect flooded treasure vaults.

Two spawn in each hero's visit in the pool above the bottom right corner of Dolya Town after one of the Caves chapter bosses is defeated. In early levels they are very hard to get hit with melee attacks without an Attack Up buff or a highly upgraded ring of Accuracy/Sharpshooting, but can't resist getting pulled by Ethereal Chains or getting zapped by wands.

Piranhas Dolya Town SPS-PD
  • Beast
  • 2 of them always appear in Dolya Town in the southeast pool, after the fourth chapter boss is defeated, and respawn in every hero's new visit.
  • HP: 315
  • Damage: 55-114
  • Accuracy: 130
  • Armor: 0-55
  • Evasion: 120
  • Speed: 1.5
  • Immune to Burning, Corruption, Freezing, Paralyis, Rooting, and Toxic Gas (this does not mean that it does not take damage from enchanted weapons or the relevant wands, just that it is immune to their debuffs)
  • XP: 5
  • Drops always meat and a Violet Dew Drop.

Stone Beetle[]

Spider jumper SPS-PD
Stone Beetle
A bug alive with ice stone.
  • Beast
  • It is the most recent addition to SPS-PD's enemies. It appears normally in depths 14-15, but also in every hero's visit in Dolya Town (only once there, but in every visit). It also always spawns next to Geological Surveyor Xavier251998, so it notices the hero rather soon because of him/her spawning close to Xavier251998. Although its stats do not appear to scale up with depth, its version in Dolya Town is apparently buffed in comparison to that of the regular dungeon, and in the very first visits of the hero in Dolya Town it is perhaps better to use the Light - Invisibility option of the dew vial, to make the beetle wander away in Dolya Town's big area. It shares the same sprite with the Spider Jumper of the Spider Queens, but apart from that and both of them being beasts it has no other similarities with the Spider Jumper.
  • HP: 82-85
  • Damage: 15-20 (it can deal also damage with its debuff upon death)
  • Accuracy: 16
  • Armor: 2-5
  • Evasion: 15
  • Speed: 1.5
  • Immune to the Dark enchantment.
  • Upon death when the hero is in melee range but not when it is killed with a ranged attack it always causes the Stone Ice buff/debuff for 10 turns, which increases damage from the hero by 40%, decreases their speed by 20%, but most importantly with every hero's move it deals damage equal to 1/20 of the hero's max HP. Note that if the hero doesn't move at all while the buff/debuff is active, he/she will receive no damage (in contrast, if he/she moves in every turn while it is active, he/she will lose 10/20 = half of their max HP).
  • XP: 9
  • It has a 30% chance to drop Stone ore.

Test Mob[]

Scarecrow SPS-PD
Scarecrow
Test Mob

It spawns below Trainer Rain, who appears after the hero reaches level 40 (it never appears by itself without the Trainer). Not exactly an enemy as It is completely passive and won't attack in any case, even when some AI-altering effect like the scroll of Rage is applied to it. It has tens of thousands of HP and drops the Portable Scarecrow container if the Clockwork Scarecrow has not dropped it aleady. Due to its passivity, it is a far better candidate than the Clockwork Scarecrow for the hero to fight, in order to obtain the container, unless the player wants the hero to obtain the Portable Scarcrow container earlier than in level 40, which will be only possible by attacking the Clockwork Scarecrow. It is particularly vulnerable to Fire damage.

  • Plant
  • It is located below Trainer Rain to the left. It remains passive even when attacked and can only become aggressive by reading a scroll of Rage.
  • HP: 100,000 (not a typo)
  • Damage: 1
  • Accuracy: 100
  • Armor, Evasion: 0
  • Takes increased damage from Burning, the wand of Firebolt and the Test Weapon. Immune to Amok, Charm, Sleep, Terror, Vertigo.
  • Drops always a Portable Scarecrow bag, if it has not aleady been dropped from the Clockwork Scarecrow. If it has been dropped, the Test Mob drops nothing.
  • As the Test Mob doesn't fight back and also drops the Portable Scarecrow, it should be preferred as the hero's target, unless the player wants the hero to obtain the Portable Scarcrow container earlier than in level 40, which will be only possible by attacking the Clockwork Scarecrow.
  • Note also that specifically the Slime skin of the performer can dominate - corrupt both scarecrows by using his unique Slime item, as neither of them are minibosses despite their huge amount of HP. Unlike regular dominated enemies that lose 1 HP per turn though, the dominated scarecrows lose 1,500 HP per turn, so the Slime performer doesn't need to bother with fighting them to get the portable scarecrow container, he can just throw the Slime item to any of the two scarecrows and rest for 67 turns, while the scarewcrow will be getting self-destroyed.

Tomb - Wraiths[]

Tomb
Tomb
This ancient tomb may contain something useful, but its owner will most probably objet to checking.

It appears along with Watabou, after any of the fourth chapter's bosses is defeated by the hero, and spawns four Wraiths like all disturbed tombstons (the tomb usually drops a piece of Dark Gold and any other item that is found in the Dolya Town chests more rarely, but always drops something). The tomb appears in every visit in Dolya Town, even when it was destroyed in the just previous visit, and it is the only place in SPS-PD that can be farmed for scrolls of Magical Infusion and Upgrade (although in a limited way, as the Dolya Slate needs 500 turns to charge for one visit in Dolya Town).

Wraith gif
Wraith
A wraith is a vengeful spirrit of a sinner, whose grave or tomb was disturbed. Being an ethereal entity, it is very hard to hit with a regular weapon.
  • Undead
  • A group of 4 will appear after the tombstone at the south east corner of Dolya Town is disturbed.
  • HP: 56
  • Damage: 1-58
  • Accuracy: 65
  • Evasion: 325
  • Has a ranged attack that causes Terror and Vertigo.
  • Immune to Amok, Burning (not wands of Firebolt), Charm, Dark enchantment, Freezing (not wands of Frost), Paralysis, Sleep, scroll of Psionic Blast, Rooting, Terror, Toxic Gas, Vertigo.
  • Without a highly upgraded ring of Accuracy or Sharpshooting equipped, they are very evasive to get hit or shot by the hero, but a single use of the Ankh Shield will stun the 4 wraiths spawned from a tombstone for enough turns for the hero to take them down easily. Upgraded wands of Lightning due to their chain effect can also take down a group of 4 Wraiths with one or two zaps.
  • XP: 1
  • Without the hero having a Lucky Badge equipped, it has a 6% chance to drop a scroll of Magical Infusion and a 9% chance to drop a scroll of Upgrade.

Spring Festival Town - not easily accessible during most of the year[]

[The Spring Festival Land dolya slate page that is giving access to Spring Festival Town used to be getting dropped by the Year Beast miniboss in the Yog-Dzewa depth if it got killed within 1,000 game turns in the directly previous "0.9.4 Year Hunter" version of SPS-PD, so practically always. In the current version the Year Beast does that only if it gets killed within 5 game turns, and the 1,000 turns prerequisite is reserved only for the time period of the actual Spring Festival celebrations, from late January to early February (note also that the only way currently for the hero to have the "Spring Festival turns counter" instead or the regular one, is to attack the Year Beast specifically with a Firecrackers holiday weapon equipped, but this weapon is randomly and infrequently sold only by Oldnewstwist, so heroes can't rely on having it). This means practically that currently there might be many runs in succession that the hero won't get its page dropped so this area will be unaccessible to him/her. This area is meant to be mostly a recurring feature from late January to early February of each year, which is the time period that the lunar/traditional Chinese New Year starts, and Spring Festival is a celebration for it, which is as important in China as the 1st of January is in most other parts of the world. Having been designed to be mostly available during the Spring Festival period explains also the two different "killing the Year Beast" counters determined by the calendar. As players might still be lucky enough to have its page dropped by the Year Beast, the following section remains in the wiki, but players should not expect to encounter this area in every run, unless they are playing SPS-PD's Test challenge, which is the only case that Spring Festival Town is always available, as heroes spawn in this challenge with its Dolya Slate page already in the inventory.]

The Spring Festival Town is almost as big as Dolya Town, although almost 2/3 of its space are occupied by a huge "2020 Spring Festival" sign made by red marble (the 2020 part), and red-green overgrown shrubs (the Spring Festival part) but has a little more than half of Dolya town's population, no quests, and only two little shops that sell one thing each in every hero's visit. The NPCs of Dolya Town that appear also here are all saying the same things they say in Dolya Town and are just relocated in regards to their position on the maps's depth (they all retain their either stationary or wandering character though). These NPCs are: Alfred Abbey and Abeys, Apostle, ARealMan, Cooker M.O.S., Curse Ankh, Dream Player, Fruit Cat, G2159687, Geological Surveyor Xavier251998, Hate Sokoban, Honey Poooot, Jinkeloid - Union President, Maintainer S.O.F.S., Mercenary - thirteen the Frozen Mist, Milliltre Isaac, Ømicrónrg9, Pet Dealer Lery, Rawberry - Chairman of the Union, Ren, Rune Scholar Lynn, Secretary kostis12345, Shattered Flame Blast - Union Fire Mage, Shattered Pixel Dungeon, Shield Goblin, Shower, Tempest102, Treasure Hunter S.M.R., Uncle S., XiXi0.12. Note that: a) the appearance of none of these NPCs is related to badges obtained, like it does for some in Dolya Town, so they are all already in Spring Festival Town from the hero's first visit, while none of them changes behavior after Otiluke is rescued, and b) the "merchant" NPCs of Dolya Town sell nothing here, although they still say their merchandise-related messages (so Tempest102 is still talking about his studio with musical instruments, but resonance weapons will never spawn around him in Spring Festival Town etc.)

The only exception in these familiar NPCs is Secretary Kostis12345, who is not selling anything in Dolya Town, but has a small shop in the northwest corner of Spring Festival Town that sells one different item in each hero's visit: either a ring for 1,875 gold or an artifacts for 2,500 gold (her shop is a more straightforward version of the ARealMan's laboratory in Dolya Town, that exchanges rings with artifacts). There is also a new shopkeeper NPC named Coconut, who doesn't appear in Dolya Town at all (he is neverthelss mentioned, if you check Fruit Cat's messages, the Fruit Cat is talking about Coconut's departure and leaving his merchandise behind) and sells here random regular items that could be found in any main dungeon shop, but with the inflated prices of Dolya Town, one in each hero's visit.

Spring Festival Town has also three unique NPCs:

  • Coconut: "a metal cat maybe" that keeps a small shop at the south of Spring Festival Town, which sells one regular item that could be found in any main dungeon shop, but with the inflated prices of Dolya Town, one in each hero's visit. It says that it is thinking of summoning a new hero, but it is not sure about it, that It had spent a lot of time to build this place, and that it still has a shop in here. It offers regular scrolls and potions from 500 to 1,000 gold, wands for 1,875 gold, weapons and armors for 2,500 gold, but it doesn't sell rare iitems.
  • Hmdz001, the developer of this game, who is nevertheless described as "a player, not a developer", who "will try to fix some errors in this world." He is located in a room at the south of the town, hidden behind some burnable overgrown bushes that their arrangement makes the hero need 4 potions of Liquid Flame or bombs to free the way for him (there is no practical reason for the hero to meet him, nevertheless it is nice meeting the developer of the game you are playing). He asks the player if he/she had seen his cat, Coconut, which is cute and is made from metal, and informs him/her that this town's purpose is to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival, and although he knows that he and and the player have different cultures and histories, this is just one part of the game. Apparently the developer is addressing the engish speaking gamers community, as there is also a chinese version of SPS-PD, in which this statement would not make much sense. He also wishes to the player to have fun here.
  • You, a wandering character with the sprite of the Ice Corps boss from the BossRush challenge (You is a totally friendly character though) who only says: "It is you. / It is just you."

There are two alchemy pots in Spring Festival Town, one in plain sight in the room with Cooker M.O.S., Hate Sokoban and Treasure Hunter S.M.R. at the center north corner of the town, and one semi-hidden in hdzl001's room in the south of the town. Also the NPCs of Dolya Town that interaction with them innvolves an alchemy-pot-like window (Alfred and ARealMan) open this window also here and it is fully functional, unlike the merchant NPCs of Dolya Town that in Spring Festival Town sell nothing.

There are also two enemies in Spring Festival Town: a) the familiar Test Mob, which can also drop the Portable Scarecrow container, if it gets destroyed for the first time there (the Clockwork Scarecrow never spawns in Spring Festival Town) and b) the Year Beast, which still appears as a miniboss in theYog-Dzewa depth in current SPS-PD and has the same base stats here, but it is much stronger in comparison to its Yog-Dzewa depth version, because all of its debuffs (Burning, Charmed, Disarm, Frozen) are more powerful due to the increased depth and it also retains its self-buffs (20% Attack Up, 20% Defence Up, renewable Glass Shield 3) and its many resistances and immunities (Burining, Charmed, Fire, Poison, Psionic Blast, Sleep, Terror, Toxic Gas, Vertigo). Note that the Year Beast in Spring Festival Town is semi-hidden in a room behind a locked door at the bottom left of the map, and hero has to buy a key from G2159687 to get access to this room (there are no other locked rooms in Spring Festival Town). The Year Beast also has a unique drop in Spring Festival Town, the Soul of Year pet card, that releases the Baby Year pet. You can read more details about the Year Beast's combat features in the Bosses page of SPS-PD, and about the Baby Year pet in the Pets and Allies page.

Lastly, in the southeast part of Spring Festival Town there is a small tomb-like column titled "Thank list" that every time the hero interacts with it, it will mention randomly the name of a person that the developer wishes to thank for their help or positive influence on SPS-PD. The names that have been included in the 2020 list are: ‎Bilboldev, BlankDriver, Buue2‎, ConsideredHamster, Dachhack, Deeperbroken, DGN1, DragosCat1, Eccentric eye, Eldskutf. HeXa, Hmorow12, Ian949, Juh9870, Leppan, Lighthouse64, Locastan, Najecniv20, Noodlemire, NYRDS, ‎OldNewsTwist, Q1a2q1a2, Qi, QueenOfTheMeowntain, ‎RaiseDead, RavenWolf, Ropuszka, SadSaltan, Sharku2011, SkyMuffin, SuperSaiyan99, ‎Torian99, TrashboxBobylev, Typedscroll, Watabou, Yell1, 猫佑薄荷, ‎老雷霆, ‎指虎教徒, 白幽妹, 章华, and Everyone who plays this game.
