Food
Until the latest beta, the food items of YAPD that were either dropped, found as loot, or sold in YAPD were the small ration, the raw meat and the dwarven pasty (most nutritious among all food items). Raw meat would satisfy hunger but would also poison the hero, so it was much better to get it burned or frozen and turned into chargrilled meat or frozen carpaccio. Herbs could also get eaten but satisfied little hunger and were mostly used to remove debuffs, while two of them aplied debuffs to the hero in contrast (sorrowmoss, whirlvine).
[Players who are not beta testers should not take the following two paragraphs into account.] After the latest beta the food items of YAPD that are either dropped, found as loot, or sold in YAPD are the ration of food, the small ration, the raw meat and the dwarven pasty (still most nutritious among all food items), but with some changes implemented to raw meat. Raw Meat is now completely safe to eat, can't get frozen anymore, while burning raw meat will turn it into burned meat, which is a worse version of raw meat (raw meat restores 20% satiety, while burned meat restores 15%). Raw meat can also be cooked in alchemy pots with herbs and gain herb-specific buffs for 50 turns, same with the effect of the herb when eaten alone but for a considerably longer amount of time, while it also restores more satiety, 25%. Herbs now require only one turn to get eaten, restore 5% satiety, and do not apply any debuffs when eaten, but either Add HP, Remove Debuffs or apply short Resistance Buffs for 10 turns. [To read about the different herb - raw meat combinations of the beta and all the herb-related effects, you should visit the Herbs and Alchemy YAPD page of the wiki.]
The small ration restores 50% satiety, the ration of food 75% satiety, and the dwarven pasty 100% satiety. All three of these food items and also meat require 3 turns to get eaten.

Changes in Potions - Beta
[Players who are not beta testers should not take these bullets into account at all.]
- Four New Potions are added: Caustic Ooze (applies caustic ooze to enemies and creates temporary acid puddles on the floor), Confusion Gas (causes Vertigo in its area of effect), Rage (it causes a "Berserker's Fury"-like Enraged buff to the hero, just like the scroll of Challenge, but without attracting enemies), and Toxic Gas (Poisons characters in its area of effect and doesn't deal direct area of effect damage like it does in Original PD).
- The former potion of Blessing is separated into the new potions a) of Shield, which increases Physical Defense/Armor Class and Resistance to Magical Elemental damage for the hero, and b) Blessing, which Uncurses items and Harms Magical creatures in its area of effect, or around the hero and inside the hero's inventory when he/she drinks it, as it creates a blessed area of effect around him/her. Keep in mind though that unlike the scroll of Banishment and getting resurrected by an Ankh, which uncurse almost always the whole inventory, and the scroll of Enchantment and Upgrade that uncurse fully an item, the potion removes from only from 1 up to 3 negative levels from cursed items with each use, and not necessarily all of the negative levels at once.
- The potion of Overgrowth is changed into the potion of Webbing (just Roots in a 3X3 area of effect, doesn't grow vegetation anymore). The two ways to to grow vegetation and herbs that have remained in YAPD is to pour water on a grass tile or read a scroll of Sunlight above grass tiles.
- The potion of Strength does not increase Regeneration rate anymore.
- The potion of Thunderstorms now can be used to refill wells.
