[This wiki page describes the current version "0.9.4 Testers' Party - The Start" in which no significant change has been made in these Dolya Slate depths. In the directly previous version, named "Year Hunter", the only change was that the Whistle was renamed to Book of Soul and retextured, but this item seems to not be working in general currently. You can read about Dolya Town and Spring Festival Town in their separate page and about the Energy Core fight in the Bosses page.]

Dolya Slate (formerly Otiluke's Journal) generally[]

Dolya Slate contents SPS-PD

Sprouted PD's Otiluke’s Journal is renamed to Dolya Slate, is sold at the depth 1 shop for 1,500 gold, and has also some more differences with the journal of Sprouted PD. It charges up to 1,000, but it can be used even at 500+ charges to teleport to any Dolya Slate depth (in other words it can be used two times in succession, when it is fully charged at 1000 - note that the game does not give a message when it is fully charged anymore). Any time the hero adds a new page, the Dolya Slate gets fully charged, even if it has no charges, and if the hero adds a new page to a fully charged Slate, it will get +50% charges (so it will have +150% with one page, +200% with two pages etc. but these excess charges do not extend its cap, and it always has 1000 charges).

Otiluke's Journal
Dolya Slate [sold in the depth 1 shop]
A transport item made in Dolya Town. You can add some location into this magic stone and you can go there by using this thing.

Its former Safe Room and Dolyahaven pages are not dropped by enemies anymore and are sold instead in depths 10 and 15 for 1,500 gold (Prison - Safe Home) and 2.250 gold (Caves - Dolya Town) each.

The Dragon Cave and Vault depths have been removed from SPS-PD, so there are only 7 original Otiluke's journal depths left (all renamed apart from the puzzles) but also 2 new depths have been added:

  • 4 puzzle depths (Sokoban 1,2, 3, 4)
  • 2 “friendly” depths (Sweet Home - formerly Safe Room, Dolya Town - formerly Dolyahaven)
  • the First Final Battle depth, renamed to Energy Core (new page in SPS-PD but the end of Dolyahaven Mines in Sprouted SP).

The Dolya Slate's pages with their game descriptions follow, in the order that the hero first encounters them in the dungeon:

[Note: In all the pages Otiluke is misspelled as Otiluck. Also, as you will read in the game descriptions and the introductory messages mentioned SPS-PD narrates a much more elaborate story regarding Otiluke and Dolya Town in comparison to Sprouted PD.]

Otiluke's Journal - Sokoban 1 [drops from the Sewers chapter bosses]
Location of Sokoban 1

My hometown was a beautiful place 50 years ago. Lots of people came here for the magic stones, the great waterfalls, the delicious food, or something wonderful.

But because of the empire's industrial pollution, and of low-quality visitors, my hometown became worse. So I decided to save my town.

When the hero first arrives at Sokoban 1, this message is displayed: Finally, I start my adventure in my hometown. I went to Tower, an old magic school, it was famous for its laboratory and library. After that, I heard a story about weird boxes, deadly traps and hidden treasures. I know where I should go. Otiluke, 1,345th year of the Empire.

When the hero first arrives at Sweet Home, this message is displayed: The seller: Shopkeeper. The buyer: Hero. The seller and buyer, based on equality, voluntariness and negotiated consensus, hereby conclude the following agreement on the purchase and sale of this commodity house: Seller will sell Sweet House to buyer. Buyer will give Seller 1,500 gold. This agreement is in duplicate and has the same legal effect.

Otiluke's Journal - Sokoban 2 [drops from the Prison chapter bosses]
Location of Sokoban 2

I have spent lots of time to collect useful information, and I finally found this place. I see some huge boxes, traps and treasure in there.

I am sure this is some quest, and I know I can solve it.

When the hero first arrives at Sokoban 2, this message is displayed: I completed that quest, and found some treasure. One piece of gold I found in there has some terrible energy. After I came back to the Tower, I sent this gold to the laboratory. It seems like... a co-ordinate. I hope my Dolya Stone can still work. Otiluke, 1,348th year of the Empire.

Location of Dolya Town.

Sorry, no magic stone is sold here now.

When the hero first arrives at Dolya Town, this message is displayed: Dolya, located in the northwest of the Empire, is famous for its beautiful and unique scenery. Xianquan mountain is sheer and cliffy, which is known as the natural scenery of Dolya. Sorry, there are no tours and other services available in this scenic spot at the present. Location of Sokoban 3

I found that place, a castle appeared after I used Dust of Appearance.

I know this castle has some builder as that prison. There are same traps, same boxes, same tr... wait, a huge mirror with a mirror weapon?! I must reduce my voice.

I will never give up before I find the way to save my hometown.

When the hero first arrives at Sokoban 3, this message is displayed: Killing that mirror wasted my time, but I found that artifact at last. Based on the report by the laboratory, these glasses can open a portal to another world. There are some unknown creatures that live in there. I am ready to enter this portal. Otiluke, 1,355th year of the Empire.

Location of Sokoban 4

Those creatures are in fear when I close them, and they will transport me to somewhere else.

It was the 61st time. I found a big stone tablet, and I can see some unknown words in there. If I can understand what this says, I may communicate with that creature.

When the hero first arrives at Sokoban 4, this message is displayed: I can't remember how much time I have spent in translating that language, but at last I succeeded. This world is created by Zot, a powerful void leader. He was trying to rule every world, but he failed. With the help of different heroes in different worlds, Zot lost his power and can't move anymore. Then, I had a great idea. If I control Zot, I wil have enough energy to save my hometown. I can see my bright future! But first of all, I need to enter his fortress. Otiluke, 1,361st year of the Empire.

Spring Festival Land [dropped randomly by the Year Beast in depth 25]
A simple location with number 25/01/2020.

Spring Festival Town is currently a not easily available Dolya Slate depth, as in this version its Spring Festival Land page is dropped not always, but only if the Year Beast miniboss in the Yog-Dzewa fight gets killed within 5 game turns. It is meant to be a feature mostly available from late January to early February of each year (so the Year Beast during that specific time period drops its page if it gets killed within 1,000 game turns, sopractically always). Late January - early February is the time period that the lunar/traditional Chinese New Year starts, and Spring Festival is a celebration for it, which is as important in China as the 1st of January is in most other parts of the world. Note that players who are very curious and want the hero to visit this area as soon as possible should select the "Test Challenge" from the game's main menu as in this challenge all heroes have its dolya slate page in the inventory by default.

The puzzle depths’ general layout is identical with that of Sprouted PD's puzzles, but there are some major and minor differences, mostly in the texturing of the depths and in the available solutions for the puzzles, due to the availability of the Jump Shoes and also of wall-destroying items (Huge Bombs, Two Bombs, Shovel, Effect Button, Diamond Pickaxe). Like in Sprouted PD, their unique and rare items spawn only in the hero's first visit, but unlike Sprouted PD gold chests retain their good amounts of gold in every hero's visit, with the chests that contained rare or unique items in the first visit having good gold loot in all the next. Sokoban 1 chests will drop from 1,500 to 2,500 gold, Sokoban 2 chests from 10,400 to 20,800 gold, and Sokoban 3 and 4 chests from 6,300 to 11,000 gold.

Unlike Sprouted PD scrolls of Magic Mapping and Blue berries work in all the Sokoban puzzle depths. Potions of Mind Vision and the Peek ability of the dew vial also work in all Sokoban puzzle depths, even in the Energy Core battle. Still Levitation from potions and the Jump Shoes of the Rogue or from the enhanced Dew Vial doesn't work on the Sokoban puzzle depths.

Lastly, in the current version of SPS-PD there is no way for a pet to exist in a Dolya Slate depth like they do in Sprouted PD: the Book of Soul (formerly whistle) doesn't work in general so it can't summon them, ready-to-generate-a-pet souls, pet cards or lanterns with a soul can't release a pet there and pets don't get teleported along with the hero to any Dolya Slate depth even when they are standing on a tile next to him/her.

Sweet Home (formerly Safe Room - depth 50)[]

Sweet Home SPS-PD

Unlike Sprouted PD the Sweet Home page is sold for 1,500 gold in Prison shop at depth 6, and is not dropped by a Gnoll Archer in the Sewers challenge anymore. The former Safe Room apart from being renamed is now much different than before, being more spacious and hosting many more rooms. Additionally, it comes with an alchemy pot and 40 chests; they mostly contain gold (small amounts, from 25 to 50 gold each, unlike the gold chests in the Sokoban puzzle depths, but they are many, so the hero will leave Sweet Home the first time from 950 up to 1,950 gold pieces richer), but they have also a low chance to contain a scroll of Upgrade, and one chest always comes with a Lucky Badge, SPS-PD's equivalent of Sprouted PD's ring of Wealth. The depth offers more features than in Sprouted PD, so the Safe Room will be much more useful in SPS-PD until Dolya Town is reachable, where there is also an alchemy pot, and the grass also regrows each time the hero visits it, as well as over time during the hero’s visit.

List of different Rooms in the Sweet Home[]

  • Heroes always spawn in a wide room at the top, which has a decorational blue tent in the middle. In the hero's first visit this room contains a lot of chests.
  • There are two small 3 X 3 rooms to the left and right, The left one contains a decorational bed and the right one is as perfect as possible for watering once some grass is put inside of it via Planting with the dew vial (there is already one grass tile inside it, so one preparational planting will just be needed for the other tiles around it to become fertile). In the hero's first visit the right room also contains chests.
  • Down below is an even larger room that branches out to five more rooms (it is the room where the Plumber Soldier is standing in the picture). In the hero's first visit this room also contains a lot of chests.
  • On the left and right are tall but empty rooms. In the hero's first visit these rooms also contain a lot of chests.
  • The lower left room is small, and contains an Alchemy Pot useful for cooking, crafting and brewing. Until the hero obtains the Invitation to Town page, this will be the only alchemy pot available to him/her on every depth, as long as the Dolya Slate is charged.
  • At the bottom is a 4 X 3 room filled with grass. It's not quite as ideal for planting as the small room on the top.
  • The lower right room is flooded with water. It becomes convenient when the hero has a Burning / Caustic Ooze debuff and no water nearby in the regular dungeon or dew in the dew vial to Clean himself/herself, as he/she can visit the Sweet Home in order to get cured by stepping in this room.

Sokoban Puzzles 1, 2, 3, 4 (depths 51, 52, 53, 54)[]

Differences from Sprouted PD[]

The most important difference in solving Sokoban puzzles 1, 2, 3, 4 in SPS-PD is the availability of the Jump Shoes and Huge Bombs/Two Bombs for all classes and skins, and additionally of the Shovel/Effect Button/Diamond Pickaxe for four of the hero skins (Classic and Lion Dancer performers - shovel, Vtuber performer - effect button, Builder follower - diamond pickaxe). Many parts of each puzzle that would demand either a lot of sheep moving or a wand of Flock in Sprouted, are instantly solved by jumping or destroying a wall in SPS-PD (apart from the simplicity of this solution, its second advantage is that the Wisdom Protectors that spawn when a wand of Flock is used are rather slow to defeat with physical attacks due to their high defense, so the less the wand of Flock is used, the better and quicker for the hero). Similarly to Sprouted PD Sokoban puzzle 1, 2, 3, 4 pages are dropped by the chapter bosses of depths 5, 10, 15 and 20 (in SPS-PD there are just more chapter bosses that vary in each run). Also, switches, portals and sheep in SPS-PD's Sokoban puzzle depths are retextured:

A) Switches and portals into square or rectagular tiles with different symbols on them:

Box 1-0
Item Switch
If you push one box in here, something will drop in this floor.

It gets activated by Sokoban boxes or the wand of Flock, and makes keys spawn first, and after the keys are finished, makes rare scrolls/rare seeds/the floor's unique item spawn somewhere in the Sokoban puzzle depth.

Box 1
Portal
This is a portal.

It gets activated by a red switch and teleports the hero to another Sokoban puzzle room, which is most of the times otherwise unaccessible.

Box 1-1
Portal switch
This is a portal switch.

It gets activated by Sokoban boxes or the wand of Flock and activates the teleportation portal.

B) White sheep into white boxes with lines representing to what direction the boxes / former sheep can move and Black sheep into red boxes with a bomb symbol on them:

Boxes
  • + [Rook box]: "Push this box. This box can be moved like the Rook." It can be pushed only vertically and horizontally,
  • + and x combined [Queen box]: "Push this box. This box can be moved like the Queen." It can be pushed vertically, horizontally and diagonally,
  • ↔ [Swap box]: "You can exchange places with this box." It can get moved to all directions, but by switching places with the hero and not by pushing. It can only get pushed by the wand of Flow.
  • [Explode box]: "After you touch this box, it will destroy a trap." It names and depicts in a more straightforward way the function that the black sheep also have in Sprouted PD, disarming/destroying one random fleecing trap

The names Rook and Queen refer to the movement of chess pieces, which are the same with those of the boxes. Putting aside all this retexturing and renaming, they all function the same as their portal, switch and sheep equivalents in Sprouted PD.

The white boxes get destroyed when moved on a Fleecing trap (this is the dangerous trap), but also deactivate it by turning it into a Wool Rug.

Wool Rug tile SPS-PD
Wool rug
It was destroyed into a few debris.
Box 1-3
Fleecing trap
This trap can destroy everything. Push a box into it.

The Fleecing trap destroys the hero's armor, and if he/she has no armor sends him/her away from the Sokoban puzzle depth. It gets deactivated by white boxes and the wand of Flock, while explode boxes also deactivate a random fleecing trap each.

In contrast the white boxes change their available directions each time they are moved on a Change Box trap (it is named as "trap" by the game, but it is not really one, as it does not do anything harmful to the hero, and just changes the function of the boxes).

Box 1-2
Change Box trap
This trap can change one box to another box.

The directions change in a fixed order: they first get from ↔ to +, then from + to + and x, and eventually the boxes become unmovable Sheep.

Sheep gif
Sheep box
It can't move...

Note that in contrast to Sprouted PD's sheep, SPS-PD's sheep boxes can’t activate switches at all when moved by a wand of Flow. Also, Sheep boxes never spawn in the puzzle depth generation and are only products of change box traps or the wand of Flock.

Like the wand of Telekinesis in Sprouted PD, the wand of Flow of SPS-PD can be used in Sokoban puzzle depths to move boxes (even the normally unmovable sheep boxes) around, saving again the hero from the use of the wand of Flock. The wand of Flock in SPS-PD's Sokoban puzzle depths has the same effects with the wand of Flock in Sprouted PD, but it is heavily nerfed and produces only one sheep per wand zap (upgrading it only increases its charges and the sheep's lifespan), but still summons one Wisdom Protector with each zap. Lastly, like in Sprouted PD, Sokoban puzzle depths block Levitation from the potion, from the enhanced dew vial's Speed ability, and from the Rogue's jump shoes. On the other hand, unlike Sprouted PD scrolls of Magic Mapping, Blue Berries and also Mind Vision either from the potion or Peek ability of the dew vial, all work in the Sokoban puzzle depths.

If a Sokoban puzzle depth is repeated, there will not be a unique item or rare items like scrolls of Upgrade in some chests anymore similarly to Sprouted PD, but instead gold loot in all of these chests. Nevertheless, unlike Sprouted PD all the chests with gold loot will be equally generous in any of the hero's next visits, dropping from 300 to 500 gold pieces (specifically in Sokoban 2 this will be just less than on the hero's first visit, on which they will drop from 400 to 800 gold). Note that In early hero's levels repeating the Sokoban 1 puzzle is a convenient way to make 1,500 to 2,500 gold quickly, as it is easily solved without any need of wands. Equipping a Lucky Badge before visiting a Sokoban puzzle depth for the first time will not affect the spawning of rare items or make more gold spawn in its chests, like equipping a ring of Wealth has no effect also in Sprouted PD (rare items spawn in a prefixed amount and the range of gold pieces loot is also prefixed). Lastly, Sprouted PD’s Flying Protectors that spawn whenever a wand of Flock is used are renamed to Wisdom Protectors, and Animated Statues are renamed to Sokoban Protectors, but have no other difference with their Sprouted PD's equivalents, apart from a higher defense against physical attacks and a lower defense against magical attacks.

The unique rewards of Sokoban puzzles are:

Towel Sprouted PD
Towel
Don't forget your towel!
  • Sokoban 1 - Towel: It has the same sprite and is very similar in function with Sprouted PD's Towel, just more powerful, as it removes regular Bleeding, Demon Blood Bleeding and Caustic Ooze, but also the Cold, Dry, Hot, Wet and Countdown debuffs (it is the only way available in SPS-PD that can remove the last debuff). It is the most useful Sokoban puzzle reward and also the most easy to obtain. Like in Sprouted PD after a very big amount of uses it gets "broken" and can't cure anymore, but because the Bleeding debuff is much rarer in SPS-PD, practically tte Towel never gets broken in this mod. It doesn't get equipped and is always available for use.

The Towel has lost some of the importance it has in Sprouted PD, due to the removal of the 10 depths of the Dolyahaven Mines and the constant bleeding caused by the Kupuas/Gullins there, but it is still very useful against the enemies that produce Demon Blood (mostly the two types of Bokoblins and almost all the bosses of the BossRush challenge). Because Sokoban 1 is very easily solved without the need of any auxiliary item, and in addition it is a very small depth so it is also solved quickly, it is recommended that players visit at least this puzzle depth and get its reward.

Spectacles
Spectacles
I wonder what these do...
  • Sokoban 2 - Spectacles: Same in function and with the same sprite as Sprouted PD's Spectacles, but useless in SPS-PD. In SPS-PD the Vault and Dragon Cave depths are removed, so unlike in Sprouted PD there is no point in burning bookshelves with Spectacles to find these journal pages anymore. Also, scrolls of Magic Mapping and Blue berries work in all SPS-PD's Sokoban puzzle depths, without needing the hero to equip the Spectacles first. To offer nothing, the Spectacles have to be equipped.

As a side note, the burnt bookshelves is SPS-PD can drop scrolls like they do in YAPD, so the hero should burn bookshelves as soon as he/she has the means to do that easily, and players already familiar with Sprouted PD should not wait until they visit the Sokoban 2 puzzle and obtain the Spectacles, as it won't have any additional effect.

Potion Bandolier YAPD
Auto Potion
Wearing this charm will automatically use a potion when your life gets low.
  • Sokoban 3 - Auto Potion: Same in function with Sprouted PD’s Auto Potion, but with the sprite of YAPD's potion bandolier, it makes the hero drink a healing potion, whenever their life is in danger, but only if it is equipped. It is the only Sokoban puzzle reward with a low chance not to get spawned, a feature that has been inherited from Sprouted PD.
Book of Soul
Book of soul.

[Note: this item has been recently renamed and its sprite was also retextured to a greenish version of the Dolya Slate. Its image will be soon upladed to the wiki.]

  • Sokoban 4 - Book of Soul (formerly Whistle): It is supposed to be the same with Sprouted PD’s Pet Whistle (until recently it was keeping part of its name also in SPS-PD, "Whistle") and to teleport the hero's pet next to the hero from wherever it is. Nevertheless in the current version it does not work at all, and when its Use option is selected, a game message "It needs writing" just appears, which is basically a note of the developer to himself that he needs to write the code related to this item.

Sokoban Puzzles 1, 2, 3, 4 Maps[]

Due to the availability of bombs that destroy walls, of the Jump Shoes and for four hero skins also of the Effect Button/Shovel/Diamond Pickaxe, there is really no need for any Sokoban puzzles walkthrrough in SPS-PD, and only detailed maps of the depths will be displayed. In all the following maps red squares show where the depth's unique item spawns, and blue squares show which switch gets activated for the unique item to spawn. This does not have to do with the specific switches, but with the number of switches that had already been activated: when there are no more keys to spawn, rare or unique items start spawning, in the same way it works in Sprouted PD's Sokoban puzzles. Therefore, the blue squares actually show which switches are the last that the hero normally will get access to them, without the use of many bombs or the Shovel/Effect Button/Diamond Pickaxe. In Sokoban 3, where there are many variations in the order that the hero will visit its rooms, no blue boxes are noted. When there are more than one red boxes, one of these tiles will randomy spawn the unique item.

Sokoban 1[]

Sokoban 1 SPS-PD

This puzzle is easy even in Sprouted PD, and because of the Jump Shoes it is even easier in SPS-PD (if the hero makes a mistake with a box, in most of the cases he/she can just jump). This puzzle spawns 5 chests that will either drop a scroll of Upgrade (1/6 chance) or from 300 to 500 gold pieces each (on all of the hero's visits), so from 0 to 6 scrolls of Upgrade and from 1,500 to 2,500 gold pieces in sum - most often the drops of scrolls are 1 or none though. The first item switch creates a key and the second item switch the unique item Towel (only on the hero's first visit).

Sokoban 2[]

Sokoban 2 SPS-PD

The hero should first visit this puzzle with at least one potion of Liquid Flame or a wand of Firebolt available, as the potion of Liquid Flame needed to burn the overgrown bushes covering the outer corridor of the puzzle might not spawn at all. This puzzle spawns 26 chests that will either drop a scroll of Upgrade (1/6 chance) or drop from 400 to 800 gold pieces each on the hero's first visit (and from 300 to 500 on all the rest), so from 0 to 26 scrolls of Upgrade and from 10,400 to 20,800 gold pieces in sum on the first visit and somewhat less in all the rest (again, the scrolls of Upgrade will be actually most often from 3 to 5). The first 6 item switches will create keys and the following 6 item switches will create in random order (only on the hero's first visit): 1 +1 scrolls of Magical Infusion, 1 scroll of Regrowth, 1 seed of Phase Pitcher, 1 seed of Starflower, and the unique item Spectacles. Heroes should visit the bottom left room with the two item switches last as there is no way to teleport from it back to the main part of the depth.

Sokoban 3[]

Sokoban 3 SPS-PD

This puzzle spawns 21 chests that will either drop a scroll of Upgrade (1/6 chance) or drop from 300 to 500 gold pieces each (on all the hero's visits), so from 0 to 21 scrolls of Upgrade and from 6,300 to 10,500 gold pieces in sum (the scrolls of Upgrade will be actually most often from 2 to 4). The first 6 item switches will create keys and the following 6 item switches will create in random order (only on the hero's first visit): 1 +1 scrolls of Magical Infusion, 1 scroll of Regrowth, 1 seed of Phase Pitcher, 1 seed of Starflower, and the unique item Auto Potion.

Sokoban 4[]

Sokoban 4 SPS-PD

The hero should visit this puzzle with at least one potion of Liquid Flame or a wand of Firebolt available, as the potion of Liquid Flame needed to burn the overgrown bushes in the east part of the puzzle spawns most of the times in the isolated built-in chest in the east, that needs at least two bombs to become accessible. This puzzle spawns 22 (+1 usually inaccessible) chests that will either drop a scroll of Upgrade (1/6 chance) or drop from 300 to 500 gold pieces each (on all the hero's visits), so from 0 to 22 scrolls of Upgrade and from 6,600 to 11,000 gold pieces in sum (the scrolls of Upgrade will be actually most often from 2 to 4). The first 6 item switches will create keys and the following 9 item switches will create in random order (only on the hero's first visit): 1 +1 scrolls of Magical Infusion, 1 + 1 seeds of Phase Pitcher, 1 seed of Starflower, 1 +1 seeds of Upgrade Eater, 1 Soul of Mobs, and the unique item Book of Soul (formerly Whistle - in the current version it seems not to be working at all).
