0.3.0 (2015/05/26) - The Wand Rework

0.3.0 was a second major update which reworked another category of items, wands. It also gave the Mage a unique starting weapon instead of letting him equip wands and changed up Mage subclasses.

Additions

  • New wands
    • Wand of Venom (replaces Wand of Poison) - Zapping creates a cloud of damaging gas.
    • Wand of Corruption - Attempts to corrupt the target, turning it to your side, more powerful enemies require spending more charges.
    • Wand of Frost - Deals damage and chills the target, deals less damage to already chilled targets.
    • Wand of Prismatic Light - Deals damage and has chance to blind its target, more powerful vs demonic and undead enemies.

  • Mage's Staff

    • Any wand imbued in the Staff recharges significantly faster.
  • Ethereal Chains - An artifact which can pull any creature to the Hero or the Hero to any tile adjancent to a wall, even through walls.
  • Dewcatcher and Seed Pod - Two new plants, which can only be grown by the reworked Wand of Regrowth, provide resources when trampled.
  • Starflower - A rare plant which blesses creatures for 30 turns when trampled and can drop its seed, the seed brews into the Potion of Experience.
  • Recharging - A buff which replenishes 1 charge to all wands every 4 turns.
  • Blessed - A buff which increases accuracy and evasion by 20%.
  • Tapping on a buff icon now brings up full buff description.

Changes

  • Mage rework
    • Mage can no longer equip wands.
    • Mage now starts with Mage's Staff instead of Knuckleduster.
    • Battlemage now has a unique on-hit effect when attacking with the Staff, different for each imbued wand.
    • Warlock can no longer gain satiety by eating food, only by killing enemies.
    • Wand of Magic Missile can no longer be disenchanted.
  • Wand changes
    • Wands now have new sprites, each type now has its own sprites instead of sprites being randomized each run.
    • Wand recharging speed now scales with missing charges.
    • Wands can now be cursed; cursed wands have random chaotic effects when zapped.
    • Wands are now capped at 10 charges up from 9.
    • Wands are now identified after 20 uses down from 40.
    • Self targeting with wands is no longer possible.
    • Wands now have a default 10% chance to generate at level +2 up from 7.5%.
    • Wand of Magic Missile now deals 2 to 6 + 2*lvl damage up from 1 to 6 + 2*lvl.
    • Wand of Disintegration now penetrates solid tiles and gains 1 bonus level for every 3 tiles penetrated, all flammable tiles are reduced to embers.
    • Wand of Disintegration range increased to 4 + 2*lvl from 4 + lvl.
    • Wand of Lightning now deals 5 + lvl to 10 + lvl^2 / 4 damage up from 5 + lvl / 2 to 10 + lvl and 50% extra damage to target standing in water down from 100%.
    • Wand of Lightning now deals fullDamage * (0.6 + 0.4*n)/n damage to all characters when arcing through multiple characters.
    • Wand of Regrowth now always uses up all charges, has 1 charge at +0 instead of 2 and fires in a cone; cone size scales with number of charges spent.
    • Wand of Regrowth now has a chance to spawns random plants, Dewcatcher, Seed Pod and Starflower scaling with a number of charges spent.
    • Renamed Wand of Firebolt to Wand of Fireblast.
    • Wand of Fireblast now spends 40% of available charges and deals 1 to 8 + level^2 * (1 + chargesSpent) / 6 damage down from 1 to 8 + level^2.
    • Wand of Fireblast now fires in a cone and cripples / paralyzes targets at 1-2 / 3-4 charges spent.
    • Removed the Wand of Flock and Wand of Avalanche
  • Mimic changes
    • Mimic HP and attack damage increased by 25%.
    • Mimics now drop have 80% chance to drop a gold pile, a random weapon, random armor or a random ring besides the usual loot.
    • Mimics now have 5% chance to replace chests in the treasury room (instead of a 1 chest always being a mimic) and can no longer replace chests in Rat King's room.
  • UI changes
    • Changed app icon.
    • Removed the Dew Vial warning when picked up.
    • Added a visual indicator when a mob is surprised.
    • Added shading to the toolbar, and slightly repositioned it.
    • Added shading to the status pane.
  • Artifact changes
    • Chalice of blood now reduces regeneration interval by 0.9 turns per level down from 1 turn.
    • Cape of Thorns now absorbs all damage, but only deflects adjacent attacks.
    • Sandals of Nature now increase seed drop chance to 25% (up from 22.6%) and dew drop chance to 33.3% (down from 50%).
    • Lloyd's Beacon is now an artifact (replacing the Wand of Teleportation), in addition to its existing effects it can now randomly teleport any target including the Hero.
    • Alchemist’s Toolkit removed (it still generates due to a bug).
  • Seed drop chance from grass increased to 6.25% from 5.56%.
  • Old Wandmaker now offers you two random wands (instead of 1 damage dealing wand and 1 utility wand), you get to see which ones before choosing.
  • The Scroll of Recharging now grants 30 turns of Recharging instead of instantly restoring all charges.
  • Eating food as Mage now grants 4 turns of recharging instead of instantly restoring 1 charge.
  • The Lightning Trap no longer recharges wands.
  • Crystal chests now always describe their content none-specifically ("a wand"/"a ring"/"an artifact").
  • Being charmed now prevents ranged attacks for creatures other than the Hero.
  • Sewers boss floor is now slightly larger.
  • Hunger no longer builds up and starvation no longer deals damage during bossfights.
  • Potion of Experience now gives total XP needed to level up, not XP needed to level up currently (using it closer to leveling up won't give you any less XP).
  • Hero level is now capped at 30.
  • Drinking a Potion of Experience at level 30 now blesses the Hero for 30 turns.
  • When Frozen debuff ends for a character standing in water, they are left chilled for 6 turns.
  • Modified warlock healing specks a bit.
  • Removed light effect caused by burning.
  • Weapons and armor now have a default 2.6% chance to generate at level +3 or -3, down from 4.4%.
  • Items unique to each Hero now persist through revivals.
  • Blessed Ankh now heals the Hero to 25% health upon saving them down from 100%, but it now also grants initiative.
  • Level 1 now generates with enough rats for the Hero to level up (#39).
  • Changed several ingame descriptions.

Bugfixes

  • Fixed randomly generated rings being capped at +1.
  • Fixed bugs with Sewers boss floor generation (#42).
  • Fixed a sign refering to the Scroll of Magical Infusion as a Scroll of Weapon Upgrade.

0.3.0a was a small patch released to fix bugs and provide some early game buffs to Mage and Huntress.

Changes

  • Mage changes
    • Mage now partially identifies wands when using them.
    • Warlock now restores significantly more wand charge from eating food.
    • Battlemage now gains 1/3 charge up-front on his staff when melee attacking, instead of a 2 turns of Recharging.
    • Mage's Staff no longer loses strength requirement from being upgraded.
    • Mage's Staff now gives a wand +1 max charges, Wand of Magic Missile reduced to 3 charges to compensate.
    • Mage's Staff imbued with a Wand of Magic Missile no longer regains 5%*lvl missing charges on hit, now grants lvl turns of Recharging instead.
    • Mage's Staff imbued with a Wand of Frost no longer procs Chilling enchantment on hit, now has a chance to freeze the target scaling with the number of stacks of chill debuff instead.
    • Mage's Staff imbued with a Wand of Prismatic Light now cripples tartet on hit instead of paralyzing it.
  • Wand Changes
    • Wand of Corruption now has base corrupting power of 10 + 2*lvl instead of 5 + 5*lvl and gains 5 + lvl corrupting power from extra charges spent down from 10 + 2.5*lvl.
    • Enemy corruption resistance increased to (0 to maxHP) + 2*HP from 0 to (maxHP + HP), but it's now reduced by 33% for every debuff on the enemy.
    • Quest minibosses are now immune to corruption just like bosses.
    • Wand of Venom now creates 50 + 10*lvl units of gas down from 40 + 20*lvl, gas now deals 1 + lvl initial damage, not 1 + depth/5.
    • Wand of Prismatic Light now has a (lvl + 2)/(lvl + 5) chance to blind targen down from (lvl + 3)/(lvl + 5) and blinds for 0.34*lvl + 2 turns down from 0.5*lvl + 2.
  • Improved Mage's Staff particle effects.
  • Plants are now visible in the fog of war.
  • Succubi can no longer blink into pits and onto traps.
  • Unfreezing in water now leaves a character chilled for 4 turns down from 6.
  • Updated class descriptions.
  • Added description to traps.
  • Corruption and Bless effects now have their own icon.

Bugfixes

  • Fixed dew drops appearing on top of heaps when they shouldn't.
  • Fixed being able to escape boss arenas using Ethereal Chains (you can't use them to phase through walls on floors 10, 15, 20 and 25 anymore).
  • Fixed a bug where the player was not properly charmed by the Wand of Transfusion.
  • Fixed a bug where saving and loading while the fists are ali ve would make Yog Dzewa invincible.
  • Fixed a bug where traps would sometimes appear over signs.

0.3.1 (2015/8/17) - It's a Trap![]

0.3.1 added a large number of traps into the game, both completely new ones and stronger versions of existing ones. It also overhauled the trap generation, making more dangerous traps only spawn in later chapters and making certain traps less common. Alongside new traps and changes to trap generation, this update also brought significant UI improvements including the support for up to 4 quickslots.

    • Spear Trap - Damages any creature on the trap tile, never deactivates.
    • Teleportation Trap - Randomly teleports any item or creature on the trap tile.
    • Venom Trap - A stronger version of Toxic Gas Trap.
    • Warping Trap - Randomly teleports any item or creature on the trap tile to a random floor above the current one.
    • Weakening Trap - Weakens any creature that triggered it.
    • Worn Trap - Does nothing when triggered, can't generate hidden.

Changes

  • Trap changes
    • Gripping Trap now deals 0 to depth bleeding damage down from 0 to depth + 3, but it also roots for 5 turns and cripples for 15 turns up from 10.
    • Lightning Trap now restores half of missing charges to any wand on the trap tile.
    • Room of traps now make use of the new trap types.
    • Trap visuals overhauled
    • Traps now get trickier deeper in the dungeon, floor 1 now only has Worn Traps.
