1.0.0 - Coming to iOS

Detailed Changelog

Changes:

  • Shattered Pixel Dungeon is now available on the iOS, costing 5$ to purchase.
  • The main screen and exploration themes have been replaced with remastered versions by composer Kristjan Thomas Haaristo.
  • The game no longer supports the Android 2.3 Gingerbread and the less popular Android 3 Honeycomb.
  • Two new alchemy items have been added: Liquid Metal and Arcane Resin.
    • Liquid Metal is attained by placing thrown weapons into an alchemy pot. Higher tier weapons will give higher amounts of liquid metal. It can be used to repair thrown weapons.
    • Arcane Resin can be attained by placing wands(must be uncursed and identified) into an alchemy pot. Higher upgraded wands will give higher amounts of resin. It can be used to upgrade wands; however, it will not be able to upgrade past +3.
  • Two new traps: The Geyser Trap, and the Gateway Trap
    • The Geyser Trap launches a plume of water, knocking back everything in a 5x5 area. This can paralyze the player or enemies if they are in front of a wall, and disable traps.
    • The Gateway Trap is a new variant of the Teleportation Trap. It is unbreakable, and will always teleport the user to the same spot.
  • One new enemy: The Spectral Necromancer
    • A rare variant of the Necromancer; instead of spawning a skeleton, it will spawn numerous wraiths, surrounding the player. It is guaranteed to drop a scroll of remove curse.
  • Unblessed ankhs will now allow you to reclaim your inventory. It will spawn you back to the floor's entrance, giving you the Lost Inventory debuff. Blessed Ankhs will give you 3 turns of invulnerability, ensuring that you don't die immediately after resurrecting.
  • All scrolls now produce 2 runestones, some stones buffed to compensate.
  • Various buffs to several armor abilities.
  • Buffs to woolly bombs, as stones of flock were buffed.
  • Mage's staff base damage reduced to 1-7 from 1-8.
  • Various nerfs to a few armor abilities.

1.1.0 - Alchemical Overhaul[]

Changes:

  • Alchemical energy has been completely overhauled
    • Summon Elemental allows you to summon a friendly elemental. It's made from elemental embers, an arcane catalyst, and a high amount of energy. It allows for a new alternate use of the embers from the Wandmaker's quest.
    • Telekinetic Grab allows you to retrieve thrown weapons from far away. It is made from liquid metal, an arcane catalyst, and a smaller amount of energy.
  • Two new spells added, and alchemize has been totally redesigned.
  • New music has now been added for each area of the game, except Sewers
  • Several exotic potions and scrolls have been reworked:
    • Holy Furor (exotic Potion of Experience) has been renamed to Divine inspiration, and gives you two bonus talent points, which can be spent on any tier, meaning you can invest in more talents than normally possible.
    • Adrenaline Surge (exotic Potion of Strength) has been reworked into Mastery. Rather than increasing the player's strength by 2, it now decreases the strength requirement of all equipment by 2.
    • Affection (exotic Scroll of Lullaby) is being reworked to Siren's Song. It now targets a single enemy, and permanently makes them an ally. It still charms surrounding enemies
    • Confusion (exotic Scroll of Rage) is being reworked to Challenge. It now alerts the floor's enemies, and creates a small arena around the player where the player take 33% less damage. The name of this scroll is a reference to the original Scroll of Challenge from the original Pixel Dungeon
    • Petrification (exotic Scroll of Terror) is being reworked to Dread. It instills such a fear in the affected enemies, that they leave the dungeon entirely.
    • Polymorph (exotic Scroll of Transmutation) is being reworked to Metamorphosis. Instead of affecting surrounding enemies, it affects the player. Upon reading, it grants the player the ability to swap a talent to another equivalent talent from another class.
  • Various buffs to exotic potions and scrolls
  • Buffs to artifacts, especially the Toolkit
  • Various buffs to talents and armor abilities
  • Berserker rage loss now has a delay

  • New special rooms
    • Two new rooms requiring crystal key(s); crystal path and crystal choice.
    • Three new hazardous rooms that require you to use potions and creativity to overcome; toxic gas room, eternal fire room and the red sentry room.
      • The toxic gas room has two chests and a skeletal remain, surrounded by poison gas. You need a potion of purity for this room.
      • The eternal fire has loot on one side and empty tiles on the other. The two sides are separated by a magical fire. You need either a potion of frost or a Wand of Frost to extinguish it.
      • The Red Sentry room requires you to run to the other side of the room to get the loot. A red Sentry will fire at you as you run, so you need to be quick. This room requires a potion of haste.
    • The Sacrifice Room from the original Pixel Dungeon is no longer unused, and has similar mecanics as the original one, though it grants a different reward.
  • New UI for large screens
    • Added persistent inventory pane to the bottom right.
    • Hero icon, health and XP bar moved to bottom left.
  • Crystal doors - appear 2 in new rooms and an existing one, see-through, require a crystal key to open.
  • A fifth badge to each of the current tiered badges (enemies killed, gold collected, food eaten, items crafted, level reached, strength obtained, games played, item level acquired).
  • Steam achievements for every badge.

    • Rot darts now have 5 uses up from 1, use count still can't be boosted.
    • Sleeping dart is now cleansing dart which works on allies and gives them short debuff immunity.
    • Adrenaline darts now grant 30 turns of adrenaline up from 10.
    • Displacing dart now always teleport the enemy 8 to 10 tiles away from the Hero and grants mind vision for that enemy for 5 turns.
    • Holy darts now grant 100 turns of blessed buff up from 30.
    • Poison darts now inflict 3 + depth/2 poison damage up from 3 + depth/3.
    • Shocking darts now deal 5 + depth/4 to 10 + depth/4 damage up from 8 to 12.
  • Other alchemy balance changes
    • Scroll of foresight now grants 400 turns of foresight up from 250.
    • Scroll of dread now grants 50% of regular XP for removed enemies.
    • Potion of shrouding fog gas quantity increased to 1,620 up from 1,080.
    • Aqua blast now has effect similar to geyser trap, quantity reduced to 8 down from 12.

  • Seeded runs
    • The player can now input custom seed when starting a new run.
    • Unlocked by beating the game once.
    • Badges can't be obtained during a seeded run.
  • Daily runs
    • Have a set seed based on current date.
    • Otherwise identical to normal runs, the player can pick a Hero and enable challenges.
    • There is currently no online leaderboard.
  • New badges
    • Zapped - Die to an enemy's magical attack.
    • Friendly fire - Die to your own magical item.
    • A worthy sacrifice - Die while next to sacrificial fire.
    • Deadly Misstep - Die to a grim trap.
    • Spotless Victory - Defeat the sewers boss without letting it use its charge attack or heal in water.
    • Gotcha! - Defeat the prison boss without getting hit by any traps or hazards.
    • Outmaneuvered - Defeat the caves boss without getting attacked or damaged while it is supercharged.
    • No Weapons in His Presence - Defeat the city boss without ever directly attacking him with weapons or wands.
    • Doom Slayer - Defeat the final boss with all demon spawners alive and the Badder Bosses challenge enabled.
    • Score Chaser - End a run with a score of 5,000/25,000/100,000/250,000/1,000,000 or higher.
  • Harder ascension
    • Enemies have their stats adjusted so even early-game ones now pose a legitimate challenge.
    • Teleporting between floors is disabled.
    • The Hero receives a debuff which gets more severe with each floor ascended, can be only remedied by killing enemies.
    • Once you start ascending, you can no longer end the game (until you reach the surface).
  • New weapon curses
    • Explosive - A curse that makes a weapon periodically explode, damaging both the wielder and target.
    • Dazzling - A curse that randomly causes flashes of light, which blind the wielder and everyone near them.
  • Added support for having multiple floors per depths (currently unused).
  • Added radial menu for controller users.
  • Added quickslot swap key for screens that can't show all 6 slots at once.
  • Added dev commentary to the remaining 0.7.X updates.

  • Badge adjustments
    • Monster hunter: 10/50/100/200/300 enemies killed -> 10/50/100/250/500 enemies killed
    • Treasure hunter: 250/1,000/2,500/5,000/10,000 -> 250/1,000/2,500/7,500/15,000.

  • Scoring system rework
    • Progression score (level + score reached) is now capped at 50k.
    • Score from gold capped at 20k, value of items in inventory when the game ends is counted too.
    • Added score for fully exploring the floor and looting all special rooms, 20k total.
    • Added score for killing bosses, 20k total.
    • Boss score is reduced if you get hit by "avoidable" attacks (like pump up or falling rocks).
    • Added score for completing quests, 10k total.
    • Added multiplier for ascending (x2.5) and for dying with the amulet (x1.5).
    • Each challenge enabled now increases score by 20%.
  • Ranking screen adjustments
    • Added a separate ranking page for daily runs.

  • Several curse are now less harmful
    • Sacrificial curse now deals 1/5 * (HP^2/max HP) bleed damage instead of 1/6 HP.
    • Wayward curse now has 25% chance to lower your accuracy by 80% for 10 turns instead of constantly lowering your accuracy by 56%, landing a hit cleanses the effect.
    • Anti-Entropy curse now freezes all surrounding creatures instead of just the attacker and ignites the wearer for 4 turns down from 8.
  • Support darts rework
    • Adrenaline darts now cripple enemies, but only apply adrenaline to allies for 10 turns down from 30.
    • Holy darts now deal heavy damage to demonic enemies, but only apply bless allies for 30 turns down from 100.
    • Cleansing darts now remove buffs from enemies.
  • Settings menu changes
    • There is now a separate keybind settings for keyboard and controller
    • Added setting for controller sensitivity
  • Talent and armor ability adjustments
    • Endure damage bonus increased to 1/2 of damage taken from 1/3.
    • Wild Magic base wand boost and max boost increased by 1.
    • Fire Everything now has a 25% chance per point to let a wand be usable 3 times.
    • Conserved Magic no longer lets a wand be usable 3 times, now grants a chance for wild magic to take 0 turns instead.
    • Elemental power boost per point up to 25%, from 20%.
    • Reactive Barrier shielding per point up to 2.5, from 2, and max targets now increases by 1 per point.
    • Shadow Clone now costs 35 energy, down from 50. Initial HP down to 80 from 100.
    • Shadow Blade damage per point up to 8%, from 7.5%.
    • Cloned Armor armor per point down to 12%, from 15%.
    • Eagle Eye now grants 9 and 10 vision range at 3 and 4 points.
    • Go for the Eyes now cripples at ranks 3 and 4.
    • Swift Spirit now grants 2/4/6/8 dodges, up from 2/3/4/5.
    • Heroic Leap energy cost up to 35 from 25
    • Body Slam now adds 1-4 base damage per point in talent
    • Impact Wave now applies vulnerable for 5 turns, up from 3
    • Double jump energy cost reduction increased by 20%.
    • Smoke Bomb energy cost up to 50 from 35.

  • Dungeon seed now uses 9 letters instead of numbers.
  • Added a slight delay to the chasm jump confirmation window.

  • You can now move armor ability from one armor to the next, but the original one is destroyed.

1.4.0 (2022/10/4)- The big patch & Lore[]

1.4.0 was a minor update, that featured many improvements and bugfixes. It also added the Ring of Arcana and brought substantional changes to the Footwear of Nature and Berserker subclass. It was originally supposed to feature the Blacksmith quest rework, but it was delayed as the update was already large enough and the designing the quest did not go as planned.

    • Any rage above 100 % increases shielding gained by berserk and reduces time/xp needed for recovery
    • Reduced the rate that berserk's shield decays over time

    • Footwear now increases chance to find Dew in grass to 4.8/5.9/7.7/11.1 % down from 5.0/6.7/10.0/20.0 %
    • Footwear now increases chance to find seeds in grass to 18.2/20.0/22.2/25.0 % down from 19.0/22.2/26.7/33.3 %
    • Using the Footwear now replicates the effect of the last seed fed into it, you can trigger the effect anywhere within 5x5 tile
