A seed is a string of characters that determines every aspect However, the dungeon layout is also altered by Forbidden Runes challenge and can be further impacted by the player choosing a trinket which alters floor generation. As such, same seed doesn't actually guarantee same dungeon layout. For a regular run, the seed is a random combination of 9 numbers and letters, excluding vowels. This can be changed in the run configuration, where a custom seed run or daily run can be selected. These options are accessed at the bottom left corner of the hero select screen and become available after winning the game for the first time.
Custom Seed Run[]
Custom Seed | ||
The game uses a seed code for dungeon generation, the same seed and game version always generate the same dungeon! Custom seed games cannot earn badges or contribute to games played, and appear at the bottom of the rankings page.

One can input any combination of 9 numbers and letters, inputting the same seed results in the same dungeon being generated. It's also possible to copy a seed from a finished run on the Rankings screen to produce a dungeon identical to that of the selected run. Seeds don't produce the same dungeon between different game versions if there were any changes to the level generation or new items or features which can generate in the dungeon have been added.
Daily Run[]
Daily Run | ||
Every day a new game is available that is the same for everyone! This 'daily run' generates the same dungeon for every person who plays it (so long as they are also playing the same game version). You can take as long as you like to complete a daily run, but can only have one active at a time. Daily runs are not eligible for badges and have their own separate rankings page.

These runs use the current date as the seed resulting in all players who start a daily run on a given date having an identical dungeon layout. As the seed format differs from random and custom seeds, it's impossible to recreate daily run dungeon layouts by inputting a custom seed. You can start a daily run right after finishing the previous one and even play multiple daily runs on the same day. Finished daily runs are stored on a separate Rankings page and only the first run completed on a given day is preserved. There is currently no in-game option to publish or share your score.
