Sad Ghost[]
Sad ghost | ||
The ghost is barely visible. It looks like a shapeless spot of faint light with a sorrowful face.
|
||
The Sad Ghost is an NPC, which spawns in the sewers, depth 2 to 4, inside an exit room and wanders around the room randomly. When talked to, they asks the Hero to avenge their death by killing a miniboss (the Fetid Rat on floor 2, the Gnoll Trickster on floor 3 and the Great Crab on floor 4). All of these minibosses have powerful abilities which let them easily kill the Hero (rat, gnoll) or counter their attacks (crab), but can be countered if you follow the Ghost's advice. They mainly exist to teach the player about mechanics which they will have to deal with regularly later in the game. The miniboss only spawns the moment you interact with the ghost for the first time. It spawns unaware of the Hero, but it's more likely to move towards it while wandering.
Quest accepted (rat) | Hello Hero... Once I was like you - strong and confident... But I was slain by a foul beast... I can't leave this place... Not until I have my revenge... Reward | Please take one of these items, they are useless to me now... Maybe they will help you in your journey... Also... There is an item lost in this dungeon that is very dear to me... If you ever... find my... rose...... |
Farewell | Farewell, adventurer! |
Fetid rat[]
Fetid rat | ||
Something is clearly wrong with this rat. Its greasy black fur and rotting skin are very different from the healthy rats you've seen previously. Its blood red eyes make it seem especially menacing.The rat carries a cloud of horrible stench with it, it's overpoweringly strong up close.Dark ooze dribbles from the rat's mouth, it eats through the floor but seems to dissolve in water. | ||
HP | Armor | Accuracy | Evasion | Damage | EXP | EXP Cap | Properties |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
20 | 2 | 12 | 5 | 1 - 4 | 4 | 5 | Miniboss, Demonic |
Compared to a marsupial rat, the fetid rat has 12 more points of health, 1 more point of armor, 4 more points of accuracy, and grants 3 more experience on death.
- Surrounded by a cloud of fetid stench, which can paralyze.
- Its bites have a 25% chance to inflict with the caustic ooze debuff.
- Considered by the game to be Demonic, making it take bonus damage from the Wand of Prismatic Light.
- This makes it the first Demonic enemy the player can encounter, aside from mimics.
To defeat the rat, stand diagonally to the rat while fighting it and step away from it every few turns in order to keep out of the paralytic gas. Step in water to wash the caustic ooze away.
Alternatively, you can drink a potion of purity to temporarily become immune to the gas and fight the rat while standing in water.
Gnoll trickster[]
Gnoll Trickster | ||
A strange looking creature, even by gnoll standards. It hunches forward with a wicked grin, almost cradling the satchel hanging over its shoulder. Its eyes are wide with a strange mix of fear and excitement.There is a large collection of poorly made darts in its satchel, they all seem to be tipped with various harmful substances. | ||
HP | Armor | Accuracy | Evasion | Ranged damage | EXP | EXP Cap | Properties |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
20 | 2 | 16 | 5 | 1 - 6* | 5 | 8 | Miniboss |
The Gnoll trickster shoots different types of darts including regular, poison, and finally incendiary darts. These are based on pre-0.6.3 darts.
It can be lured into melee range by going around corners, or through doors. Unlike most enemies, Gnoll trickster will not attack when cornered and in melee distance, even if there is no other way to act. Upon defeat, it can drop half a stack of any missile weapon, except for darts.
While this enemy can be slain using ranged weapons like wands and projectiles, it is not recommended unless the wand or ranged weapon is reasonably powerful. This is because the Gnoll trickster will shoot at you while you are attempting to attack it, and its attacks get more dangerous as they land, going from regular darts to poison darts to incendiary darts.
Blinding it using a Wand of Prismatic Light or blindweed can also be a good strategy, for it won't be able to throw darts at you if it can't see you.
Great crab[]
Giant Crab | ||
This crab is gigantic, even compared to other sewer crabs. Its blue shell is covered in cracks and barnacles, showing great age. It lumbers around slowly, barely keeping balance with its massive claw.While the crab only has one claw, its size easily compensates. The crab holds the claw in front of itself whenever it sees a threat, shielding itself behind an impenetrable wall of carapace. | ||
HP | Armor | Accuracy | Evasion | Damage | EXP | EXP Cap | Properties |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
25 | 4 | 12 | 0* | 1 - 7 | 6 | 9 | Miniboss |
- The giant crab moves one tile every other turn, but this does not impact its detection speed or attack speed in any way.
- It blocks all attacks that would be not surprise attacks, including magic attacks that don't surprise it.
- The great crab can only block attacks from one source at a time; using an ally to help will allow one to be able to land hits effectively.
- It also can't block unblockable damage, like damage from blobs (ex.:fire).
- To slay it, hide around corners and doors to perform surprise attacks, which are guaranteed hits. Stunning, paralyzing, burning, or poisoning it via planted seeds or traps is also effective. It will block any physical damage the traps would inflict, however.
- The crab can be hit with a ranged attack upon first entering the player's vision.
- Upon death, it drops 2-3 mystery meat.
- It is otherwise identical to a regular crab, with the only stat-based difference being its increased health (25 to a crab's 15).
Reward[]
After the miniboss is defeated, the Hero must reach the ghost. Upon talking to the Sad Ghost after defeating the required enemy, the Ghost will offer either a weapon or armor. Unlike in the original Pixel Dungeon, you can see which weapon/armor you are going to get. The likelihood of the rewarded item being of certain tier and being upgraded isn't the same as for items from most other sources. Instead, it uses different odds seen in table below
Tier | Odds | | | Upgrade level | Odds |
---|---|---|---|---|
2 | 50 % | | | + 0 | 50 % |
3 | 30 % | | | + 1 | 30 % |
4 | 15 % | | | + 2 | 15 % |
5 | 5 % | | | + 3 | 5 % |
The item is always identified, never cursed, and has a 10% chance to be enchanted.
The ghost vanishes after the reward is accepted. A side benefit of completing the Sad Ghost's quest and accepting its reward is that the Hero will gain the ability to equip and use the Dried Rose if and when they have one.
Old Wandmaker[]
Old Wandmaker | ||
This old yet hale gentleman wears a slightly confused expression. He is protected by a magic shield. | ||
The Old Wandmaker spawns in an entrance room on floor 6 to 9 at random. He always asks the Hero for a powerful magical item, which can be obtained from a unique room on the same floor. The floor he spawns on doesn't determine which item he asks for.
Greetings (Warrior) | Oh, hello there! What a pleasant surprise to meet a warrior from the north in such a depressing place! You must have travelled quite far to get here. If you're looking for adventure, I may have a task for you. |
Greetings (Mage) | Oh, hello Mage! I heard there was some ruckus regarding you and the wizards institute? Oh never mind, I never liked those stick-in-the-muds anyway. If you're willing, I may have a task for you. |
Greetings (Rogue) | Oh Goodness, you startled me! I haven't met a bandit from this place that still has his sanity, so you must be from the surface! If you're up to helping a stranger out, I may have a task for you. |
Greetings (Huntress) | Oh, hello miss! A friendly face is a pleasant surprise down here isn't it? In fact, I swear I've seen your face before, but I can't put my finger on it... Oh never mind, if you're here for adventure, I may have a task for you. |
Greetings (Duelist) | Oh, hello miss! What a pleasant surprise to meet a hero in such a depressing place! If you're up to helping an old man out, I may have a task for you. |
Introduction | I came here to find a rare ingredient for a wand, but I've gotten myself lost, and my magical shield is weakening. I'll need to leave soon, but can't bear to go without getting what I came for. If you can get that for me, I'll be happy to pay you with one of my finely crafted wands! I brought two with me, so you can take whichever one you prefer. |
Quest accepted (dust) | I'm looking for some corpse dust. It's a special kind of cursed bone meal that usually shows up in places like this. There should be a barricaded room around here somewhere, I'm sure some dust will turn up there. Do be careful though, the curse the dust carries is quite potent, get back to me as fast as you can and I'll cleanse it for you. |
Quest accepted (seed) | The old warden of this prison kept a rotberry plant, and I'm after one of its seeds. The plant has probably gone wild by now though, so getting it to give up a seed might be tricky. Its garden should be somewhere around here. Try to keep away from its vine lashers if you want to stay in one piece. Using fire might be tempting but please don't, you'll kill the plant and destroy its seeds. |
Quest accepted (embers) | I'm looking for some fresh embers from a newborn fire elemental. Elementals usually pop up when a summoning ritual isn't controlled, so just find some candles and a ritual site and I'm sure you can get one to pop up. You'll wand to avoid boxing yourself in while fighting it though, or you could keep some sort of freezing item handy. Newborn Elementals are pretty powerful and chaotic, but they can't stand the cold. |
Quest continues (dust) | Any luck with corpse dust, Hero? Look for some barricades. |
Quest continues (seed) | Any luck with a Rotberry seed, Hero? Look for a room filled with vegetation. |
Quest continues (embers) | Any luck with those embers, Hero? You'll need to find four candles and the ritual site. |
Quest completed (dust) | Oh, I see you have the dust! Don't worry about the wraiths, I can deal with them. As I promised, you can choose one of my high quality wands. |
Quest completed (seed) | Oh, I see you have the berry! I do hope the rotberry plant didn't trouble you too much. As I promised, you can choose one of my high quality wands. |
Quest completed (embers) | Oh, I see you have the embers! I do hope the fire elemental wasn't too much trouble. As I promised, you can choose one of my high quality wands. |
Farewell | Good luck in your quest, Hero! |
Corpse dust[]
Somewhere on the level, a room blocked by a barricade will spawn. Inside, there will be one or two skeletons and many remains, one of which will contain corpse dust. All gold found in these remains are always found in a quantity of 1, and the remains with the corpse dust will always spawn a Wraith.
Corpse Dust | ||
The ball of corpse dust doesn't differ outwardly from a regular dust ball. But you can feel a malevolent energy lurking within it.Getting rid of it as soon as possible would be a good idea. | ||
Upon picking up the corpse dust, the game will notify you that "a chill runs down your spine". At this point, the corpse dust will begin rapidly spawning wraiths (in accordance with the table below) within your field of vision until the item is given to the Wandmaker and the quest is completed. Completing the quest will destroy all wraiths on the current depth.
The corpse dust cannot be dropped or thrown, and its curse cannot be removed.
It is a vital part of the necromancy strategy, if you're willing to sacrifice the quest reward.
Current number of wraiths | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4+ |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Turns until next spawn | 1 | 4 | 9 | 16 | 25 |
Rotberry seed[]
Rotberry Seed | ||
The berries of a young rotberry shrub taste like sweet, sweet death.Given several days, this rotberry shrub will grow into another rot heart. | ||
The depth with the Old Wandmaker contains a locked room covered with tall grass and a rot heart, which always spawns next to a wall. Fire will quickly kill everything in the room, but it will also destroy the seed and render the quest impossible to complete. Killing the rot heart with a Wand of Disintegration has the same effect of destroying the seed, as well as bombs.
Rot Heart | ||
A Rotberry's fruit is very unique. Instead of rotting away and providing nutrients, the fruit grows, hardens, and encompasses the seed. It provides protection for the internal organs which grow inside the fruit. This giant orb is referred to as the heart of an adult Rotberry plant. | ||
HP | Armor | Accuracy | Evasion | Damage | EXP | EXP Cap | Properties |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
80 | 0 - 5 | - | 0 | - | 4 | 9 | Immovable, Miniboss |
The Rot heart will create blobs of toxic gas when attacked, but otherwise it's passive to the player. Upon its death it drops the seed of rotberry (regardless of hero level).
Rot Lasher | ||
The rot lasher is a part of a mature rotberry plant's root structure, and also their primary means of defense. Lashers are blind and stuck into the ground, but will violently assault any nearby threat after taking a moment to detect them. When there is no nearby enemies, they stand motionless, attempting to blend in with surrounding vegetation. | ||
HP | Armor | Accuracy | Evasion | Damage | EXP | EXP Cap | Properties |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
80 | 0 - 8 | 25 | 0 | 10 - 20 | 1 | 9 | Immovable, Miniboss |
In addition to Rot Heart there are up to 6 rot lashers in the room standing between the entrance and the heart. The rot lashers will always be spaced 1 tile apart from each other or the heart. They cannot move, but have a powerful melee attack, which also cripples their target for 2 turns. It also has high armor and regenerates 5 HP every turn while not attacking. Thankfully, the lashers take 1 turn to notice the Hero and spawn in a way which leaves a "safe" path towards the Heart (you will have to step next to lashers but not for more than 1 turn). Rot Lashers die when the Rot Heart is defeated and have a 75% chance to drop a random seedon death.
When the rotberry seed is planted, it grows into a small rotberry bush. This plant does nothing aside from dropping the seed once trampled. It does, however, have synergy with the warden subclass.
Elemental embers[]
Elemental Embers | ||
Special embers which can only be harvested from young fire elementals. They radiate thermal energy. | ||
Newborn Fire Elemental | ||
Elementals are chaotic creatures that are often created when powerful occult magic isn't properly controlled. Elementals have minimal intelligence, and are usually associated with a particular type of magic.This fire elemental is freshly summoned, but still quite dangerous! Because of the chaotic nature of its summoning, this elemental can only spread fire in inaccurate blasts after charging for a turn.
|
||
HP | Armor | Accuracy | Evasion | Damage | EXP | EXP Cap | Properties |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
60 | 0 - 5 | 15 | 12 | 10 - 12 | 10 | 20 | Fiery, Flying, Miniboss |
There are four ceremonial candles scattered across the depth. The Hero has to place them in a cardinal formation on the corners of the ritual marker (a 3x3 tile with a red star symbol) inscribed in one of the rooms. A newborn fire elemental will spawn; it has lower damage, accuracy and evasion than the elementals found in the Dwarven Metropolis stage, but can be even more deadly considering lower Hero experience level. The elemental's ranged attack is telegraphed with a 1 turn warning and targets a tile next to the Hero, but it hits a 3x3 area and the fire lingers for 7 turns. Once it's defeated, it will drop the elemental embers. The quest ends once the embers are brought to the Old Wandmaker.
A good way to kill it is to use a potion of frost, which deals damage equal to 1/2 to 3/5 max HP, just in case of a regular Fire Elemental. The newborn elemental is a flying enemy, so icecap plants will not be trampled and must be manually activated, instead.
The elemental embers can also be used in alchemy to create five Summon Elemental spells, but doing so will prevent you from completing the quest along with obtaining the wand.
Reward[]
Upon bringing the requested item to him, the Old Wandmaker will offer one of his 2 wands. Unlike in the original Pixel Dungeon, the wands offered will be completely random and will not be divided into battle/non-battle wands. However, their names will be visible when choosing. The wand level ranges from +1 to +3.
The Wandmaker vanishes after the reward is accepted, there is currently no way to encounter him again.
Troll Blacksmith[]
Troll Blacksmith | ||
This troll blacksmith looks like all trolls look: he is tall and lean, and his skin resembles stone in both color and texture. The troll blacksmith is tinkering with unproportionally small tools. | ||
The blacksmith spawns on floor 11 to 14 in a unique "forge" room. After talking to him, the player receives a pickaxe required to complete his quest. The blacksmith's room also features an entrance to an Old Mine sub-floor, where walls can be broken with the pickaxe. This is where his quest takes place; it can be only entered once the quest is started and becomes permanently inaccessible after coming back.
Greetings (Warrior) | Hey Human! You look like a tough one. |
Greetings (Mage) | Hey Human! You look like a smart one. |
Greetings (Rogue) | Hey Human! You look like a sneaky one. |
Greetings (Huntress) | Hey Human! You look like a quick one. |
Greetings (Duelist) | Hey Human! You look like a brave one. |
Introduction | Wanna be useful, eh? Yeah I got something you could do. I built dis workshop ontop of an old mine, it's just down dat ladder. Take dis pickaxe and mine me some dark gold ore. 40 pieces should be enough. The rock down der is nice and soft so you'll be able to mine through the walls with some effort. What do you mean, how am I gonna pay? You greedy... Ok, ok, I can do some smithin' for you. Consider yourself lucky, I'm the only blacksmith around. |
Crystal Caverns | Careful though, the mine's dangerous for a little human like you. It's been abandoned for a while, and bunch of crystals have started growing. They're shiny, but too fragile to be worth anythin', and they've got some magic things protecting 'em. They're pretty strong, so be careful where you mine or you'll get their attention. There's a giant crystal somewhere too. It's a lot tougher, so be prepared for a fight if you start breakin' it. I'll bet smashing it will slow all the crystal growth down though, so I'll pay extra if you can do it. |
Mushroom Forest (unused) | Careful though, the mine's dangerous for a little human like you. There's some sorta fungus monster that's been growing down there. It's got mushroom sentries that're really deadly if they see you, but they can't get up and chase you at least. Keep out of sight if you want to stay alive. I'll pay extra if you can manage to take down the biggest mushrom, but it'll take some real effort. It's connected to a bunch of mycelium nodes that're hidden in the walls. You'll have to break most of 'em before you can really damage it. |
Gnoll Encampment | Careful though, the mine's dangerous for a little human like you. Some gnolls want the gold too and now they're wreckin' the place. They're stupid things, so their mining has caused all sorts of collapses and cave-ins. You'll have to mine it though, so look for recently disturbed rock. I think one of the gnolls is causing most of the trouble, probably a geomancer shaman or somethin'. I'll pay extra if you can find and kill it, but I'm sure it'll fight back. |
Speaking again | You done wastin' my time? The mine entrance is over there. |
Speaking again without pickaxe | Are you kiddin' me? Where is my pickaxe?! |
Entering the mine | You ready to go down? Make sure you've got some free space for the gold. I'm only lettin' you down der once! |
Coming back with 0-9 gold | You done already? You've hardly got any gold at all! You should be able to get 40 pieces. |
Coming back with 10-19 gold | You done already? Doesn't look like you've got a lot of gold. You should be able to get 40 pieces. |
Coming back with 20-29 gold | You done? You've got some gold at least, but there's definitely more in the mine. You should be able to get 40 pieces. |
Coming back with 30-39 gold | You done? Looks like you've got a good amount of gold, but I could use a bit more. You should be able to get 40 pieces. |
Coming back with 40+ gold | You done? You've got lots of gold, but make sure you haven't left any of your gear behind. |
Crystal Spire not killed | That giant crystal's still down there too. I'll pay extra if you destroy it. |
Giant Mushroom not killed | That giant mushroom's still down there too. I'll pay extra if you kill it. |
Gnoll Geomancer not killed | That gnoll geomancer's still down there too. I'll pay extra if you kill it. |
Reward | Ok, a deal is a deal, here's what I can do for you. |
Reward (pickaxe) | I guess I can give you the pickaxe back if you want. I've got plenty more. You sure you want dis old thing? The rock around here isn't soft like in the mine, so you won't be able to do any more digging with it. |
Reward (free pickaxe) | Eh, you did a pretty good job, I'll give it to you for free. |
Reward (reforge) | I can reforge two of the same type of identified item into one of a higher quality. |
Reward (harden) | Ok, a deal is a deal, here's what I can do for you. |
Reward (upgrade) | If you've got an identified item below +3 I can upgrade it for you. |
Reward (smith) | I can try forging a weapon or armor for you from scratch. It'll be higher tier and probably upgraded, and you'll get some choice over what you get. Alright, I'll get the forge warmed up and then you can pick what you want. |
Reward (cash out) | I can just give you some regular gold I've got lyin' around. 1 for each point of favor. Okay so that's %d gold. I'm not doin' any more work for you after dis though! |
After reward | I'm busy. Get lost! |
Quest[]
Dark Gold Ore | ||
This metal is called dark not because of its color (it doesn't differ from the normal gold), but because it melts under the daylight, making it useless on the surface. | ||
In his quest, the blacksmith hands the Hero a Pickaxe and asks them to mine 40 pieces of dark gold ore in the old mine and bring it back to him. He also wants you to kill a miniboss in the mine.
Pickaxe | ||
This is a sturdy and heavy tool for breaking rocks. It can probably be used as a weapon in a pinch. Typically this tier-2 melee weapon deals 2-15 damage and requires 14 strength to use properly. |
||
The pickaxe is a tier 2 weapon, which deals 2 - 15 dmg per hit, but requires 14 points of strength to be used effectively. Just having the pickaxe in inventory allows the Hero to break walls and other obstacles in the old mine sub-floor. This is very important as some places in the mine can only be reached by breaking tiles in the way. The Crystal Caverns contain a Crystal Spire as the miniboss, while the Gnoll Encampent has the Geomancer as the miniboss.
Reward[]
Unlike with other quests, the reward depends on player's performance during the quest. Every piece of dark gold ore collected gives the player 50 points of favor (capped at 2,000), 1,000 more points are given for killing the miniboss. After leaving the mine, the favor can be exchanged for blacksmithing services.
- The player can choose to keep the pickaxe. It offers very little benefits outside of the old mine as it can't break walls anywhere else, and it has a very poor stats as a weapon. It can be somewhat useful for the Duelist thou, as has a quite strong ability. If at least 2,500 favor points was obtained, this reward is free, otherwise, it costs 250 favor points.
- The player can reforge two of the same items to upgrade one of them at the cost of the other, just like before 2.2.0 update, and also 500 favor. The upgrade is like an upgrade scroll, so a +3 ring and a +2 ring would combine to one +4 ring. Both items must be identified.
- The player can harden any weapon or armor for 500 favor points. Hardened items can't lose an enchantment/glyph including a cursed one when upgraded with a Scroll of Upgrade. However, when upgrading the item past +6 there is a chance for the hardening to be lost just an enchantment/glyph can be lost when upgrading past +4.
- The player can upgrade any item currently at level +1 or lower for 1,000 favor points.
- The player can have the Blacksmith smith 3 items for them for 2,000 favor points. They always get to choose from 2 random weapons and a random armor generated using Dwarven Metropolis tier distribution. The items have 15%/55%/20%/5% chance to be upgraded to +0/+1/+2/+3 respectively and are never enchanted or cursed.
- The player can cash out converting all remaining favor to gold coins at 1:1 ratio.
Any reward except pickaxe, cash out and the smith service can be theoretically selected multiple times, increase in cost by 1,000 favor after each use.
Ambitious Imp[]
Ambitious Imp | ||
Imps are lesser demons. They are notable for neither their strength nor their magic talent, but they are quite smart and sociable. Many imps prefer to live among non-demons. | ||
The imp spawns in a random standard room on floor 17 to 19. As the imp is semi-transparent and his location can be anywhere on the floor, he can be quite difficult to find. His quests remain mostly unchanged from the original, only the number of enemies you have to kill for him has been reduced. The quest you get depends on the floor on which he appears. He will always offer monk quest on floor 17, random quest on floor 18 and golem quest on floor 19.
Greetings | Psst, Hero! |
Quest accepted (monks) | Are you an adventurer? I love adventurers! You can always rely on them if something needs to be killed. Am I right? For a bounty of course ;) In my case this is monks who need to be killed. You see, I'm going to start a little business here, but these lunatics don't buy anything themselves and will scare away other customers. So please, kill... let's say 5 of them and a reward is yours. |
Quest accepted (golems) | Are you an adventurer? I love adventurers! You can always rely on them if something needs to be killed. Am I right? For a bounty of course ;) In my case this is golems who need to be killed. You see, I'm going to start a little business here, but these stupid golems are bad for business! It's very hard to negotiate with wandering lumps of granite, damn them! So please, kill... let's say 4 of them and a reward is yours. |
Quest continues (monks) | Oh, you are still alive! I knew that your kung-fu is stronger ;) Just don't forget to grab these monks' tokens. |
Quest continues (golems) | How is your golem safari going? |
Reward | Oh yes! You are my hero! Regarding your reward, I don't have cash with me right now, but I have something better for you. This is my family heirloom ring: my granddad took it off a dead paladin's finger. |
Farewell | See you, Hero! |
Meeting again in the shop | Hello, Hero! |
Talking in the shop | Hey there, I've got special prices for demon hunters! Oh and be careful down there! The demons below won't care how courageous you are. You can't come back up and spend more money if you're dead! ;) Are the demons like me? Hehe, not at all. I'm just a small fellow, not much of a fighter, and I've managed to keep my mind intact. The demons below are much stronger things, and they've all been enslaved by... well... just be careful down there. |
In the shop, during Ascension | What did you do Hero? Shop quickly, I've got to get out of here! |
If you fail to steal from the shop | I thought I could trust you! |
Lunatic monks[]
This quest requires the Hero to kill 5 dwarven monks and bring the tokens they drop to the imp.
Dwarf Token | ||
Many dwarves and some of their larger creations carry these small pieces of metal of unknown purpose. Maybe they are jewelry or maybe some kind of ID. Dwarves are strange folk. | ||
Wandering golems[]
This quest requires the Hero to kill 4 stone golems and bring the tokens they drop to the imp. The tokens are similar to the ones dropped by monks.
Reward[]
The imp offers the player a random ring, which has 2 extra upgrade levels (can go up to +4) and is guaranteed to be cursed. Due to how ring curses work in Shattered PD, the ring will provide no benefit unless the curse is lifted.
The imp disappears after Hero takes the ring, but appears later as a shopkeeper in floor 20. His shop does not spawn if his quest is not completed.
Shopkeeper[]
Shopkeeper | ||
This stout guy looks more appropriate for a trade district in some large city than for a dungeon. His prices explain why he prefers to do business here. | ||
The Shopkeeper spawns in every shop (on floor 6, 11 and 16), except in the last one, where the Ambitious Imp takes the role of a shopkeeper instead. Interacting with him lets the Hero sell items or buy back one of 3 last sold items. It's also possible to speak with the Shopkeeper, but doing so serves no purpose gameplay-wise.
Unlike other NPCs, which completely ignore getting hit, the Shopkeeper gets angry upon taking damage or getting afflicted by a debuff as long as he is visible by the Hero. When this happens for the first time, he simply warns the player and removes any harmful blobs from the shop. IF this happens again, however, he teleports away taking all his goods with himself. The same thing happens immediately if you fail to steal from the shop. Because of this, it's always better to be careful when near him and avoid stealing without 100% success chance, especially if you still haven't purchased important items like a bag or darts.
Introduction (Warrior) | That's an interesting seal you've got there, they're usually in one piece. You a disgraced hero or something? Well whatever you've done is none of my business, your coins are still good. |
Introduction (Mage) | Hehe, I think I've seen a wanted poster with your name on it somewhere in the city. On the run are we? Oh you're innocent are you? Of course, of course... Don't fret, I've got better things to do than report on you, but perhaps you should buy something to be sure? |
Introduction (Rogue) | Have you come from the thieves guild to clear the area? No, just shopping? Well kill a few monsters while you're here anyway. Don't expect a discount either, I pay good protection money to you people and you're barely keeping me safe down here. |
Introduction (Huntress) | You seem to be out of your element miss. Tight dungeon corridors aren't as spacious as grand halls or the forests surrounding the city are they? Hehe, oh don't mind my rambling, why not buy something? |
Introduction (Duelist) | Well if it isn't the travelling hero! If you're trying to save another town then good luck, the dangers here are much worse than petty bandit gangs. I'm sure you'll do better than anyone else could, just try to not die right outside my store. |
Prison Shopkeeper | I have everything you need for a successful adventure! |
Cave Shopkeeper | Spend money, live longer. Oh and say hello to that Troll blacksmith for me if you see him. Remind the lug that he still owes me money for that hammer I sold him last week! |
City Shopkeeper | My wares can keep you safe down here. ...And don't loiter if you please. It took forever to get the locals down here to leave me alone, I don't want you attracting any trouble! |
Warning | Watch it! I won't warn you again. |
If you fail to steal from the shop | Thief, Thief! |
Rat King[]
Rat King | ||
normal: This rat is a little bigger than a regular marsupial rat and it's wearing a tiny crown on its head.festive: This rat is a little bigger than a regular marsupial rat. It's wearing a tiny festive hat instead of its usual crown. Happy Holidays! | ||
This NPC is located in a unique hidden room in floor 5, he can also be summoned in any floor by a distortion trap (1% chance). In floor 5, he spawns sleeping; talking to him or trying to attack him will wake him up. Afterwards, he will run around the floor randomly, which can make it difficult to interact with him again. In any other floor, he immediately runs towards the stairs and despawns, trying to get back to floor 5.
While he doesn't ask the Hero for anything, there is actually a hidden quest tied to him. He can be given dwarf king's crown by the Hero and gives him his crown in exchange. The player won't be able to choose armor ability, but will instead gain a hidden armor ability, ratmogrify.
Waking up | I'm not sleeping! |
After waking up | What is it? I have no time for this nonsense. My kingdom won't rule itself! |
Summoned by distortion trap | Wha... Where am I? My kingdom needs me! |
Being visited with crown, no armor | Put some clothes on! You're in no state to talk to royalty! |
Being visited with crown | Oooh, is that crown for me!? It looks much shinier than mine, so I graciously accept! In fact, I think I can offer you something as a reward for this crown. A tremendous power befitting a hero such as yourself! Would you like that? |
Crown not given to him | Fine! It's not like I wanted it anyway... |
Crown given | Hehehe, thank you! Now go and make your king proud! |
After crown quest | Enjoying your new armor? No take-backsies! |
