The entire game of Pixel Dungeon takes place within a fictional underground structure many floors deep. All gameplay occurs within the dungeon, and it contains all of the game's many elements, such as items, enemies, quests, and the hero. These game elements all have their own articles, and so this one will focus on the dungeon itself.

The dungeon is split into 26 floors over fives stages. A floor of the dungeon is made of up a 32x32 grid of tiles, which are often arranged into tunnels and rooms. Most floors are semi-randomly generated, and so each run of the game will take place within a unique dungeon.
