    Screenshot 2014-05-29-18-31-16

    My first real run with a Mage. It's much harder than it needs to be because there are locked doors without keys on multiple depths. I noticed it on depth 3 or so and figured I'd come back once I had ID'd Scroll of Magic Mapping. I eventually did so on depth 12, which revealed two locked doors without keys. So I took a screenshot.

    What am I missing? I was under the impression that - and this has been the case in every other run through I have played - there are always keys for every locked door on a depth.

    It's frustrating because I have the makings of a great run but I have been shorted on food and missed multiple wells due to this problem. I've seen it on three depths so far out of 16.

    • For the record I just died on depth 18 to a fire elemental because fire elementals are the one weakness in my build. +6 wand of Firebolt, +2 wand of Telekinesis, +1 wand of blink, wand of slowness. And a +2 Venomous glaive! My armor was crap though. Rings were +2 Sateity and +1 Detection (not great). The wand combos were amazing though. See monster: Slow it, set it on fire and use TK to push it away. Or Slow it, set it on fire and Blink away. Too great. But I had to slug it out with fire elementals and I only had Chainmail +2 (maybe should have used more upgrade scrolls on the armor; I died holding 3 of them waiting to find Plate), so every time I saw a FE I used 2-3 Heal pots.

    • New Room Types!

      Seems to be a Major Bug.

      I suggest you don't descend any further until Watabou releases a hotfix, so the rest of the unvisited depths will generate keys for you.  (Unless the hotfix generates keys for already-visited depths.)

    • I've had the same problem. and I also had that room with a well in the corner (what is that room? I've never seen it before). Maybe it's a room which isn't ment to be locked...

        Loading editor
    • From what I can read, the room is a new room type (called "Pit") which drops the key inside its own room:

       // from PitPainter.paint(Level, Room)
       l = room.random();
       ...
       level.drop(new IronKey(Dungeon.depth), l).type = Heap.Type.SKELETON;

      This should be changed to how every other locked room behaves:

      level.addItemToSpawn(new IronKey(Dungeon.depth));

      However, I don't see anything to stop any locked room from spawning a key as the room's prize...

    • Given its name (“pit” is already used in Level for chasm cells), maybe is this room intended to be reached through a chasm from the floor above (then exited with the key in it)? I’ll check the code too in order to be confirm/infirm my guess, but it’s what its name makes me think about it.

    • Last time I had that happen I went to the floor above which had a chasm and jumped in. Took a few attempts into different chasms, but one of them landed me in the room. I can confirm that the key is in there.

    • The chasm that gets you into the room is quite specific looking.  Then in the room is a skelliton with a pile of stuff including the key.  Only problem is I ran into the unlockable room a few times.  Dont know how to get into it when it is level 1

    • Chasmroom entrance

      Be sure you have a decent amount of HP before jumping

      I haven't encountered this type of room. This is from a friend, he confirmed me that you get in the room by jumping in the chasm of a previous level.

      The well was empty. The key to get out was there. And there were a pile of bones with: ration of food, a potion and shurikens.

    • You are right Darkoko :)

      Chasm.heroFall(int room) {
         ...
         if((Dungeon.level instanceof RegularLevel) && ((RegularLevel)Dungeon.level).room(room).type == Room.Type.WEAK_FLOOR)
                     InterlevelScene.fallIntoPit = true;
                 else
                     InterlevelScene.fallIntoPit = false;
         ...
      }

      "Weak floor" is the room type in the picture above.

      From what I see, the Pit room will only generate if the weak floor room generated above it. (Also the weak floor won't generate if the level below is a boss level)

    • I've just encountered a similar room, but there are no chasms on the floor above, id ignore it, but thats the room where the corpse dust is hiding!

        Loading editor
    • Same thing here, the room is on 9th floor , just under the boss floor, and the corpse dust is inside it.

    • Not sure if this is the problem, but when I say the floor below, I mean the larger depth number. So the 9th floor is above the 10th (boss room) and the entrance to the pit should be on the 8th.
