  • 1.9 update added this new room called "Sacrifical Chamber" and I think I found it in-game.

    Screenshot 2015-08-05-17-50-05

When I stepped on that thing in the middle of the room, it gave me this weird debuff with a blue icon; and I have no idea what it does.

What do you think about it?

    • I just died on top of it, and it said something along the lines of my sacrifice was worth it. The first 2 levels of my next game had 3 wands in the first 2 floors. Maybe it increases item spawn rate

    • I've lured two marsupial rats into the flames then killed them, and been told that my 'sacrifice is worthy'. I'll let you know what happens next Dungeon level

        Loading editor
    • Well, I found a cursed ring of accuracy and another sacrificial chamber. The experiment continues

        Loading editor
    • I killed 4 or 5 rats on this thing, and the blue flames went out, a voice intoned (well, there was an on screen message, but I swear it was a Booming Voice in my head) "Your sacrifices are worthy, and so are you!"

And an item droped on the alter: a scroll with a skull motif on it. It identifies as a "Scroll of Wipe Out", and its description text reads:

Read this scroll to unleash the wrath of the dungeon spirits, killing everything on the current level. Well, almost everything. Som eof the more powerful creatures may not be affected.

    • I tried the 6 kills with debuff as written in the Sacrificial Chamber page, but everytime, I got "Sacrifice is unworthy" as opposed to "Sacrifice is worthy", and I never got the scroll. So I guess there is one more condition to get it?

    • I think they must stand to at least two hits while having the debuff in order to be worthy. (I work around it using darts)

    • OMG!The Scroll of Wipe out killed even the shopkeeper, but his shop is still there!!!

Lol. So it does kill the Shopkeeper, but I wasn't expecting all his goods to still be there.

    • 1. Scroll of wipe out kills all non-boss things - so skeletons in dwarf king depth, yogi larvas... but also troll blacksmith, old wandmaker, ambitious imp, rat king, and also i believe sad ghost. needless to say, it disrupts your quests to use it on wrong depth, I guess we need some balancing on its power, or, to make it only target enemies.

      2. Only enemies within your level range are worthy.

      3. Scroll of wipe out doesn't fit in scroll holder. and apparently it won't burn. And does not count for identify alll scrolls achievement.

      4. I have no idea yet what happens when you drop it in well of transmutation. It's getting tricky to find  well and chamber on same run, for some reason.

      Oh wow.

Did the Shop items become free to take?
Or did you have to buy them from the Shopkeeper's "ghost"?  XD
      Or did they become non-interactable/non-purchaseable?

Thank you so much for scouting all of this intel!  (^_^)

LoL!  His ghost lingers & demands gold offerings.

Makes one wonder.. whether the NPC we know as the Shopkeeper is really the Shopkeeper, or if the Shop room itself is the actual Shopkeeper, and the person is just a humanoid manifestation/embodiment of the room, to fool/accommodate potential customers.
(Which explains why the entire Shop & its contents disappear when certain debuffs are inflicted on the.."Shopkeeper"..)  XD

No, I had to buy them.

This presents a fascinating situation, though..

If the Shopkeeper is no longer present to get hurt & incur debuffs, does that mean it's safe to fight in the Shop & use items that give off certain debuffs?
Cause if so, then this is somewhat of an interesting Wipe Out scroll Exploit to use at the Shop depths, making it a less tense experience to buy items, as the fear of the Shop disappearing would be removed.

      Hahah.. Interesting bug/flaw/conundrum there, Watabou..

      Thank you, Rayssa!  (^_^)

    • You can't sell things however if the Shopkeeper is gone. So there is a cost for using the Scroll of Wipe Out on a shop depth, but there is a little benefit as well.

Ahh, a trade-off; that's true.  I forgot to consider that

I don't know about others, but I suppose I can manage, though, especially since I'm a packrat & am already used to making extra trips, lugging my excess equipment from one Shop to the next, until they're identified & sold.

That's a creepy theory...I wonder if all that story was intended by Watabou or it's just a weird bug...

Yes, that's a feature that Watabou purposefully implemented.

    • Thanks you guys for this wonderful intel :D

    • Seems strange, how the shop keeper's "ghost" can sometimes force you to pay and sometimes you don't have to! Perhaps it is because of previous actions, such as killing shop keepers from other depths or even other runs!?

    • Scroll of wipeout can burn up by the way
