Buffs are positive status modifiers that can provide benefits from additional healing to invisibility. Some buffs are completely unexpected, and some are the result of using an item.

On the opposite end of the spectrum are debuffs.

These buffs help the Hero in a positive way, usually acquired by the use of items, like potions.

Shadowmelded
影溶Shadowmelded
Found in Gardens. While standing or waiting in the area of effect the Hero will be invisible and everything around him will be in shadows. Also, the Hero will get hungry at a significantly slower rate while Shadowmelded.
Immune to gases
免疫毒气 Immune to gases
When drinking a Potion of Purification, the Hero will be immune to Paralytic gas and Toxic gas. The buff has a really low duration.
Invisible
透明   Invisible
When drinking a Potion of Invisibility or when eating frozen carpaccio (Template:Code probability), the Hero will be invisible. Enemies won’t be able to see the Hero, if the Hero doesn’t attack them. Reading scrolls or using a wand will also make the Hero visible to enemies. However,drinking a potion, eating food, or throwing an item or ranged weapon will not make the Hero visible to enemies.
Levitating

When drinking a Potion of Levitation, the Hero will levitate. When levitating the Hero does not trigger any traps and has better chance of not being spotted by sleeping mobs.
Mind vision
灵视     Mind vision
When drinking a Potion of Mind Vision, the Hero will be able to see all the enemies on the level and see through walls.
Illuminated
照明  Illuminated
In [[Dungeon stage/5]] stage, allows the Hero to see at distance 4. The Hero will receive this buff when carrying a torch or on fire.
Herbal healing
草药治疗  Herbal healing
Acquired when stepping on a Sungrass. Heals the Hero as long as he stays still, by Template:Code of his total HP every 5 turns. Herbal healing is not affected by the Hero's hunger.
Herbal armor
树皮甲   Herbal armor
Acquired when stepping on a Earthroot or from the glyph of entanglement. Makes the Hero temporarily immune to physical attacks as long as he stays still, for a total damage absorption equals to his total HP.
Combo
连击   Combo
Combo is a buff that only the Gladiator sub-class can experience.

If the Hero hits an enemy 3 or more times in a row, each of this hits will be more powerful than the previous, the damage multiplier increasing by 0.2 each time. The 2 first hits have their damage multiplied by 1 (i.e. no change) while the 3rd hit is multiplied by 1.2, the 4th by 1.4, the 5th by 1.6, etc.

However the number of turns between successful hits in order to keep the buff active is decreasing. There should be at most 1.1 turns between 1Template:St and 2nd successful hit, 1.1 turns again between 2nd and 3rd, 1.01 between 3rd and 4th, 0.91 between 4th and 5th, 0.81 between 5th and 6th, etc. A weapon fast enough allows to keep the buff active even in case of dodged hit, as long as the maximal delay between successful hits is met.

As there should be a negative time (-0.09 turns) between the 14th and 15th successful hits, a 14-hit combo is the absolute maximum attainable. Reaching the 14-hit combo requires an attack speed of 100 (as maximum delay between the 13th and 14th successful hits is 0.01 turns), which can be reached only with a knuckleduster (speed = 2) and haste level of 42 at least (speed multiplier > 50), which is in practice impossible even with Hero's remains. Haste level of 16 is enough for reaching 13-hit combo with a knuckleduster.

Fury

Fury is a buff that only the Berserker sub-class can experience. If the Hero is at low health, he’ll inflict more damage.
Barkskin
树肤术  Barkskin
Acquired by Warden when trampling high grass or plant, or by any class by eating frozen carpaccio (Template:Code probability). The Hero/ine’s armor absorption will be increased by a fraction of his/her total health (initially a third when trampling high grass or plant, a fourth when eating frozen carpaccio), but the armor bonus decreases by one each turn until reaching 0.

These buffs are acquired by some enemies under given conditions.

Amok&Enraged
暴怒   Enraged
Gnoll brutes enrage when their HP falls strictly below 1/4 of total health (i.e. if HP < 10). They make more damage under this buff (Template:Triangular range instead of Template:Triangular range). Even though this buff is using Amok’s icon, it’s totally different.
Goo gif 膨胀  Pumped up Goo can pump itself up instead of performing a standard melee attack, with a probability Template:Code. The Hero shall then immediately run away in order to avoid a strong attack (Template:Triangular range instead of Template:Triangular range). Goo will have a “!!!” symbol above it when affected by this.


Debuffs are negative status modifiers that can hinder the Hero or enemies by dealing damage, slowing actions, or worse. Some debuffs are completely unexpected, and some are the result of using an item or stepping on a Trap.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, are buffs.

These debuffs can affect both enemies and the Hero/ine.

Rooted
缠绕    Rooted
The character is rooted to the floor, unable to move. Can be dispelled by the Hero/ine by drinking a Potion of Levitation.
Paralyzed
麻痹  Paralyzed
The character is paralyzed for a few moves, unable to do anything against attacks.
Slowed
缓慢   Slowed
The character’s general speed is divided by 2.
Poisoned
中毒  Poisoned
Take poison damage every turn. Can be dispelled by the Hero/ine by drinking a Potion of Healing.
Burning
燃烧   Burning
Take fire damage every turn, with a chance for a random scroll or Mystery meat in your inventory to burn up. It can be dispelled by waiting it out, stepping into water or freezing.
Frozen
冻结    Frozen
The Hero/ine and/or any enemy in the area of effect is frozen for 5 turns.
Amok&Enraged
狂乱    Amok
Can be cast from Wand of Amok (to the Hero/ine: by standing near a wall and zapping it). Under this debuff an enemy hits everything in its way without noticing if it is another enemy, a NPC or the Hero/ine. In addition, the Hero/ine or enemy will not avoid detected traps if there is some on his shortest path.
Charmed
魅惑   Charmed
Cast by a Succubus, or caused by the Hero/ine making an attack while wearing an Armor inscribed with a glyph of affection. The Hero/ine or enemy won't be able to perform melee attacks (bare hands or weapon in first slot). Magic and missile weapon attacks are recommended.
Blinded
目盲   Blinded
Can be caused by reading a Scroll of Psionic Blast or stepping on a Blindweed. The Hero/ine or enemy’s vision is limited to 3 by 3 tiles, similar to the shadowmelded buff. In addition the Hero/ine cannot read scrolls.
Crippled
Crippled
Can be caused by stepping on a gripping trap, being hit by a Scorpio, falling into a chasm or hitting an enemy with a Javelin. The Hero/ine or enemy's walk speed is divided by 2. Can be dispelled by drinking a Potion of Healing.
Bleeding
Bleeding
Can be caused by stepping on a gripping trap, falling into a chasm, being attacked by an albino rat or by hitting an enemy with a Tomahawk. The Hero/ine or enemy will be damaged over time, like the poisoned debuff. Can be dispelled by drinking a Potion of Healing.

These debuffs can only affect the Hero.

Hungry
Hungry
Has no negative effects -- it is only a warning about the Hero’s hunger.
Starving
Starving
So hungry it hurts. You will suffer 1 damage every 33.33 turns in average (1 damage every 40 turns in average if being Rogue). Your natural regeneration (even with a Ring of Mending) is also halted.
Caustic ooze
Caustic ooze
Cast by the Goo and the Rotting fist. The Hero takes 1 point of damage each turn. Washes off in water.
Weakened
Weakened
Cast by Dwarf warlock. Makes the Hero lose 2 points of strength for 40 turns. Can be dispelled by drinking a Potion of Healing or using Scroll of Remove Curse.

敌人特有负面状态

These debuffs can only affect the enemies.

Sleeping Sleep Can be cast from Scroll of Lullaby. Under this debuff the enemy sleeps.
Terror
Terror
Can be cast from Scroll of Terror, or from the Eldritch enchant. Under this debuff the enemies run in fear from the Hero. If the hero attacks the victim the debuff will be dispelled.
Sniper's mark
Sniper's mark
Cast by a Sniper when using a ranged attack on an enemy.

The speed of all ranged attacks against an enemy with this debuff will be twice as fast as usual.

The debuff lasts 1.1 times the attack delay of the missile weapon that cast the debuff (i.e. 0.6 turns with shuriken and 1.1 turns with other missile weapons). It’s by consequent impossible to maintain the debuff on two enemies at the same time, because attacking an undebuffed enemy lasts to long for the debuff on the first enemy to be still active when that first enemy will be attacked again.
